From 2007, I’m reminded of the ties that bind between News Corp’s Rupert Murdoch, Fox News, and actual communists:
Mr. Murdoch has flattered Communist Party leaders and done business with their children. His Fox News network helped China’s leading state broadcaster develop a news Web site. He joined hands with the Communist Youth League, a power base in the ruling party, in a risky television venture, his China managers and advisers say.
Somehow I doubt you’ll see any of that on Glenn Beck.

Rupert Murdoch dyes his hair like a woman
So, working with the communists means you are one of them? Check yourself, my man. Check your logic.
I just love Murdoch’s famous quote in that article:
Oh wait, that wasn’t Murdoch.
And it wasn’t in that article, either. My bad.
I’ll say it,
“Look! Over There!”
thanks for the morning guffaw, Dennis.
Southern Quaker, this very post is a “Look! Over there!”
Pay no attention to the progressive Communists in our White House, look at Rupert Murdoch trying to expand his business in China.
Good grief, I can’t believe you went with the easy kneejerk reaction on this one; you’re one of the more thoughtful posters for the home team here, too.
C’mon Dennis, the “OMG!! The White House is full of commies!” schtick is getting old. Oliver’s point is well taken – here’s an example of a right wing mega-capitalist schmoozing it up with real Communists, and the silence from Beck is deafening.
(Is this the same guy who went apeshit over the Diega Rivera mural in the Rockefeller building – the one from the 30’s, the one Rockefeller had destroyed – that somehow proved Obama was part of a vast conspiracy to form a world government?)
FWIW, even if Obama & Co. were socialists (and they are NOT – I have a friend from the UK who is a died-in-the-wool Torrie and even she admits that she’s more of a socialist than Obama) I’d personally have no problem with it.
Pay no attention to the progressive Communists in our White House
Ladies and gentlemen: Your modern Republican party.
-Southern Quaker, this very post is a “Look! Over there!”-
If you replaced the words “this very post” with “the glenn beck show” you might be on to something.
When Beck finds out that his boss/station supports Communism, do you think he will cry or do you think he will organize a tea party protest? Do you think when the Foz News viewers find out that their favorite TV station is a communist supporting/Anti-American network, they will form a “grass roots” movement and demand their country back?
Oh I forgot, it would only be outrage if Foz News was a “librul media”. It’s ok, everyone put down your Lipton Tea bags, nothing to see here.
I’m pretty well aware of that SQ. Most of the posters here have failry similar sentiments, but for some reason get all hot under the collar when someone refers to Obama has having socialist tendencies. Why not just say ‘Ha, Obama a socialist? We wish he was a socialist”?
Dennis,
Chairman Mao said that the longest journey begins with the first step. Agree or disagree?
Dennis, what would you have to do to your mother if you found out that Mao loved his?
Repack, thought of you when I read this, which by the way, would make Mao roll over in his grave:
Carnegie Hall Stagehand Moving Props Makes $530,044
Again, it’s not the quoting of Mao, it’s the announcing to high school students that he’s one of her two favorite philosophers, and whom she refers to most. And if she had nothing to be embarrassed about, why did she try to pawn it off on Lee Atwater, the usual liberal bogeyman? Her excuse might have merit if there were actual referrals Atwater made to that quote, but so far, no one foolishly trying to defend has been able to verify an excuse that she claims the irony was lost on anyone who didn’t get the dig on Atwater. Without that, her excuse is complete bullshit. Which you knew already.
Why not just say ‘Ha, Obama a socialist? We wish he was a socialist”?
I have said that, more than once.
I don’t consider myself a socialist per se, more of a “social democrat” in the European mode. Which just goes to show that we have very different definitions of socialism. The modern conservative definition seems to be “anyone to the left of St Ronnie.” I wouldn’t mind having a European-style socialist in the White House, because I think it would bring some much needed change to our national priorities without sacrificing what makes American great.
The reason (as I suspect you well know) that so many of us are upset is not that the right is calling Obama out on being a socialist, but that they are (a) distorting his record on so many issues and (b) equating European-style socialism with Lenin/Maoist one-party rule that will destroy America as we know it. Which is utter bullshit.
Dennis, what would you have to do to your mother if you found out that Mao loved his?
I think the real question is what would Dennis do to his mother is Sean Hannity told him she was a communist. I’m guessing he’d come here and denounce her.
Why not just say ‘Ha, Obama a socialist? We wish he was a socialist”?
I wish he was a socialist.
This is very interesting information that you won’t see on Fox News
Dennis
You are a textbook example of the cancer that is the modern conservative movement.
SHE MADE A JOKE.
Did you hear the laughter from the crowd?????
She said that her favorite philosophers were Chairman Moa and Mother Teresa because it was FUNNY. (I am planning of stealing that line fyi) The fact that you don’t see it as an obvious joke or are too much of a Douchebag it admit it is the reason your kind is so despised in this world.
In the future, try acting like a human being. You will find that people treat you better.
elspi-
You only have to watch the tape to understand that that was no joke, and high school kids do not understand the joke, they just chuckle. ‘Not often coupled with each other’ would garner a slight chuckle, yes, exactly the small one she got. But then she goes on into the history of Mao and Chiang Kai Shek in 1947 that shows that she was in fact not joking; that Mao is one of her favorite political philosophers. There was nothing ‘joking’ about anything after that coupling of Mao and Mother Theresa.
She’s the White House Communications Director, elspi. If she has no clue about what she said was idiotic, as was the bullshit Lee Atwater excuse, then the woman is simply batshit crazy.
And really, so are you for believing it was a joke.
Dennis is one of those people who watches Glenn Beck and says “yes, this is news”. LOL.
Since this thread is actually supposed to be about Rupert Murdoch and his Communist ties. I would like to get an honest opinion of this specific topic from those on the right. Let’s just stick to this specific topic for a second, shall we? All those on the right who want to defend him, please step forward. Again, lets NOT veer of this topic and see what the next response will be.
Ollie, LOL is that your research firm deemed it important enough to report on it in order to debunk it. The used the Napoleonic ’scorched earth’ strategy to do it, by showing other politicians who referred to Mao before, but that was never Beck’s or anyone’s issue with Chairwoman Dunn.
Media Matters never dug up anything to support her excuse that she was referring to Lee Atwater, who she claimed used to use that particular aphorism of Mao’s. No one has been able to. That would have cleared her somewhat. At least her excuse.
What says Media Matters??? Lee Atwater–Mao–Choose your own path?
Anyone?
Anyone?

Ruber Murdoch, Dennis? Pallin’ around with commies?
ach, should read “Rupert Murdoch, Dennis? Pallin’ around with commies?”
He’s Ruber, Dennis is glue.
