One door closes, another one opens up.

This is pretty much a good old-fashioned ass-whuppin’…

Here are the BOTTOM of the 25 top ratings for the week ending Oct. 12:

    AMERICAN DAD 4,550,000
    SURVIVOR: SAMOA 4,534,000
    MODERN FAMILY 4,471,000

Even Poppa Bear gets crushed by American Dad.

And yes, American Dad is a Fox program. My point is that not that many people watch ANY of these gasbags on any given night.

  3. Dennis:
What’s your point? All you Birthers, Deathers and Civil War Reenactors gather at one place. Big deal.

  4. Look over here!
(nobody is arguing that FNC doesn’t get very high ratings)

  5. Burn says:

Let’s add to the dungheap Myspace. What a worthless investment.

Murdoch comes from the old school newspaper mindset. He doesn’t get this fancy internets.

He thinks people will pay for online content, HIS online content. Have they actually started that yet?

Didn’t the NYT Select thing fail epically within a short period of time trying to do the same thing?

Or would the diehard Fox nation pay the fees and subscribe?

  6. White Whale says:

You mean there will be no more Blind Date and Paradise Hotel? Oh the horror!

  7. mister steve says:

I don’t get the crowing over high numbers at fox news. Where do you put the other 301 or so million who are not sitting on their butts watching fox?

You know maybe they’re doing things like getting exercise, interacting with other humans, or (gasp!) community organizing.

I don’t get the liberal blogs total obsession with Fox, either, mister steve. Since so few people overall watch the station, why do so many liberal blogs employ so many people whose jobs consist of monitoring every word spoken on their programs? Monitoring Fox News is a cottage industry for liberal blogs. Once you get why that is then you may start to understand the bigger picture.

    Good luck in your quest.

    Is Obama the Anti-Christ?

Obama hates white people and the white culture

    Schmair and Schmalanced

    It’s a mystery.

  10. Dennis says:

I don’t get your total obsession with me, either, Indeed.

Can you explain that in words?

Or are your emotions difficult for you to verbalize?

  11. Dennis says:

    Fox News Funny

And speaking of obsessions, that guy is to Glenn Beck as you are to me, Indeed.

Only he’s actually managed to make it into a career and a book that no one has read.

    “Another failed enterprise”

The Wall St. Journal seems to be failing big time as well huh OW?

  13. Based on Murdoch’s track record with newspapers, he’s likely to send the WSJ into the tank too.

We follow Fox because the rest of the media pretends its propaganda is real news and injects it into the national dialogue.

  14. Bitter Scribe says:

But, but, Paris Hilton was just at the Fox Reality Channel Reality Awards!

@Burn: Don’t be too dismissive of paid content. The WSJ has made it work for years. This is probably because their editorial content actually is worth reading (as opposed to their opinion columns, which are free—and still overpriced).

  15. mrak says:

I’m just enormously thankful there isn’t the viewership out there to sustain an all-reality TV channel.

The political leanings of the guy at the top of the org chart don’t affect that one way or another for me.

  16. Helen says:

Yeah, the media “genius” who is giving us a ghostwritten Palin screed. One thing I like about Murdoch, he is human and he does fail grandly from time to time.

Here’s a pre-release review of GR so dry it’ll make you thirsty –

Please remember that Congress granted Murdoch an exception that allows his company to own both a newspaper and a TV station in the same market. That exception was made when the NY Post was about to be bought by the minority-owned group that publishes Harlem’s Amsterdam News…I still have the Post issue where the editorial staff SPIKED THE ENTIRE FUCKING NEWS SECTION in order to bitch about the sale. Shortly after that, Murdoch swooped in, got his Congressional waiver, and “saved” the Post.

Does the newspaper/TV station restriction still exist? If it does, Congress should move to revoke Murdoch’s exception.

Good for advertising revenue but they still lost the election. Wonder what that means?

Crap, even that absolute shithouse “WWE Raw” gets more viewers on Monday than Farce News…

If they shut down Fox Reality Channel, that just leaves the Fantasy…errrr News Channel!
