    Sadly, No!==Sadly, unsurprising…. like ‘dog bites man’….

  2. SaveFarris says:

    1. HE’S ALIVE!!!!!!

    2. Tammy Bruce is just as representative of “the right” as Peggy Noonan is of “the left”.

  3. SpiderJ says:

Farris, you’re right, so let’s just ignore the nationally syndicated radio host calling the POTUS a coon.

  4. jr says:

Billo will continue to book her as a guest

  5. Dennis says:

    Wait, wait, Sadly, No!.

Everyone here tells me this is a parody site, so this is parody, right?

    A joke, right?

Did a certain poster here photoshop that picture to Tammy Bruce’s blog or something, and everyone’s cool about it?

  6. Buzz Killington says:

She has a pet raccoon, she likes raccoons, and was comparing the Nobel to a cracker jack prize. Sheesh, lighten up.

  7. Indeed says:

She has a pet raccoon, she likes raccoons, and was comparing the Nobel to a cracker jack prize.

    Yeah. That’s it.

  8. Indeed says:

Did a certain poster here photoshop that picture to Tammy Bruce’s blog or something, and everyone’s cool about it?

Gosh, I wonder what would happen if Concern Troll would simply click on the link to Tammy Bruce’s site.

  9. Buzz Killington says:

Yeah, I know, racism is in the eye of the observer. Let’s just skip the same repetitive, futile discussion this time.

  10. Indeed says:

Can’t wait to hear what Robert Stacy “Race Mixing is Icky” McCain thinks about this. Maybe Ol’ Gumshoe Bob will “investigate.”

  11. fafaroo says:

Did a certain poster here photoshop that picture to Tammy Bruce’s blog or something, and everyone’s cool about it?

Really, Dennis? It’s a photoshop? That’s what you’re going with?

  12. Dennis says:

No, no, fafaroo, I get the parody that Quibbie was telling me about Sadly, No! is so good at, now.

The word ‘cracker’ on Cracker Jacks.

    It’s really that’s she’s racist against whites.

Sorry, took me a few minutes to get that.

  13. fafaroo says:

Sorry, took me a few minutes to get that.

No need to apologize, Dennis. We’re all aware of your disability and we applaud your daily brave struggle to “get it.”

  14. Dennis says:

And fafaroo, I guess since you were oblivious to the proper use of the ellipsis when Media Matters did the chop-shop thing on the Michael Savage quote, you probably don’t have a problem with putting quotations around something she didn’t say nor would say in the title of a blog post, do you?

  15. Indeed says:

Tough to “get it” when all you watch is Fox News, all you listen to is Heavily Medicated Father Coughlin.

  16. Indeed says:

when Media Matters did the chop-shop thing on the Michael Savage quote

    link?

  17. Indeed says:

    Wait, wait, Sadly, No!.
Everyone here tells me this is a parody site, so this is parody, right?
    A joke, right?

    Person 1 makes claim X
There is something objectionable about Person 1
    Therefore claim X is false

Please don’t make me break out the still unapologized-for David Weigel quote.

  18. fafaroo says:

…you probably don’t have a problem with putting quotations around something she didn’t say nor would say in the title of a blog post, do you?

That’s funny coming from a guy who regularly does that himself.

  19. joaquin says:

    But it’s a cute little coon. ;-)
    Oliver, you’re really reaching now.

  20. Dennis says:

That’s funny coming from a guy who regularly does that himself.

Quotation marks did the disappearing act.

So, please refresh my memory, when did I ever do that, fafaroo.

I’ll ask that they be taken off if they were anywhere near as egregious, how about that?

  21. Indeed says:

Quotation marks did the disappearing act.

So no link? Did the dog eat your homework?

  22. fafaroo says:

So, please refresh my memory, when did I ever do that, fafaroo.

And what was your reply to Sean’s criticism: ‘When in Rome, Sean.”

I’ll ask that they be taken off if they were anywhere near as egregious, how about that?

“Anywhere near as egregious”? Is this like when you defended Palin’s lying because it was “less of a lie” than Grayson’s?

You have an interesting moral compass, Dennis.

  23. bikelib says:

Thank God for a little plausible deniability, eh conserva-trolls?

  24. Dennis says:

So no link? Did the dog eat your homework?

Indeed, I don’t dance for you. Search for it yourself.

Here’s a hint: It was during the time you took a hiatus from here in order to change your identity.

    Good luck.

  25. Indeed says:

Indeed, I don’t dance for you. Search for it yourself.

Shorter Fake Citation Troll: I got nuthin.

Maybe we should put Ol’ Gumshoe Bob, Robert Stacy “Emmett Till had it coming” McCain, on the case?

  26. Dennis says:

Patterico eloquently pontificates on the parody post by Sadly, No! and Tammy Bruce’s pet raccoon.

Sadly, No! Sees the RACISMS!! in Tammy Bruce’s Photo of Her Pet (UPDATED)

  27. fafaroo says:

Wow, Dennis. You cut and pasted that headline verbatim. How did that feel?

  28. Indeed says:

Sadly, No! Sees the RACISMS!! in Tammy Bruce’s Photo of Her Pet (UPDATED)

Gosh, I wonder why Sadly No! sees that. Hmm. Thinking…thinking…

And it turns out that Tammy Bruce is a Fox News contributor. Who knew?

  29. Pyrme says:

Oliver, you know the threshold: unless someone outright calls Obama the N-word, it doesn’t count. Hints, subtle cues, wink&nods…all these things can be interpreted a buhmillion different ways and gives the racists enough cover.

Unless, of course, you refer to that one time Obama said “pitbull” on the campaign trail. That was totally a vicious assault on Sarah Palin.

  30. Dennis says:

Gosh, I wonder why Sadly No! sees that. Hmm. Thinking…thinking…
    –Indeeds

I’m just wondering why you were able to see the racism connotation, Indeed, when exactly none of her commenters ever did.

    Zero.

Seriously, it’s not just Jaim here acting like Flip from Whiteboyz.

There’s really nothing much more pathetic I can think of, even though a lot of things I’ve witnessed here come close, than white guys like you trying to act like you’re fighting racism with these silly exploitations of things that are in no way racist. It’s like watching and being interested in the poor acting in a really bad movie just for the entertainment value of it.

  31. Dennis says:

Oliver, you know the threshold: unless someone outright calls Obama the N-word, it doesn’t count. Hints, subtle cues, wink&nods…all these things can be interpreted a buhmillion different ways and gives the racists enough cover.

Anything else Tammy Bruce ever did with her pet raccoon in regards to either Obama or a person of color that might lend even just the slightest bit of credence to your hypothesis that this was somehow meant to be a racist depiction of Obama, Pyrme? She’s been on the radio a lot and on TV; any quotes of hers that might hint that she’s a racist?

I mean, surely you have tons of stuff to support it, right? I guess you could search for it on Media Matters, but I see even they called her pet a ‘raccoon’ instead of a ‘coon’. Maybe somewhere else, though, no?

  32. Rheinhard says:

Personally, I find the juxtaposition of Internet thug Patterico and the word “eloquent” to be hi-larious.

  33. Crusty Dem says:

I actually anticipate our grand defenders of racism could even find plausible justification for use of the N-word on Obama:

It’s a typo. She just meant that he’s from Niger. He wasn’t born in America, and Niger is right by Kenya, right? You know, liberals are the real racists (wipes nose on arm)

  34. fafaroo says:

I’ll ask that they be taken off if they were anywhere near as egregious, how about that?

    So, Dennis …

  35. Dennis says:

Sorry, fafaroo, I’m a man of my word but that is nowhere near as egregious at the title to the post of this thread, both as it was before he had the quote marks and now. She had a picture of her pet raccoon eating cracker jacks from a box in which she had previously posted about Obama finding his Nobel Prize in a box of cracker jacks. The word ‘coon’ never was in her post.

    Do you defend this? Too?

  36. Dennis says:

fafaroo, do you have any thoughts on Tammy Bruce being a racist at all?

Do you think she is a racist and was being racist when she posted the pic of her pet raccoon?

You have a curious habit of being somewhat non-committal on some of the more ridiculous allegations threads like these.

  37. ME, Myself, and I says:

Oh, I see the internet trolls have congregated here on a slow news day…

    *snore*

  38. fafaroo says:

Sorry, fafaroo, I’m a man of my word but that is nowhere near as egregious at the title to the post of this thread …

Just like you defended Palin for not being as big a liar as Grayson, so her lies were okay, you’re know claiming that you’re blatant dishonesty is not as bad as Oliver’s, so your blatant and obvious dishonesty is cool.

Equally apparent is your arrogance as you’ve appointed yourself the judge of who should be held responsible for their lies and dishonesty, and who gets a pass. Neat that you gave yourself a pass, too.

  39. Dennis says:

    Tammy Bruce, fafaroo?

  40. fafaroo says:

“…you probably don’t have a problem with putting quotations around something she didn’t say nor would say in the title of a blog post, do you?”

It’s lovely that you’ve now decided there are “degrees” to which distorting a headline is okay once you got called out as as one who indulges in the practice.

You weren’t quite so equivocal when you were condemning Oliver.

  41. fafaroo says:

    Tammy Bruce, fafaroo?

Isn’t the subject of the post honesty, Dennis? I think it’s pretty evident that you’re not qualified to discuss the matter.

  42. Marty says:

Boy cries wolf (again.) Film at 11:00.

Oh wait. Is that racist? I mean surely using the word boy, even in a metaphoric reference to an Oliver Willis (a black man) post must be racist. But how can it be if the commenter is also a black man?

I know- must be a self hating black man. Glad I could work that out for all of you before I even hit “submit.”

(Did I use the quotation marks right?)

    Damn racists.

  43. David in NYC says:

Dennis, could you please get off the shtick about Tammy and “her pet raccoon”?

You have use that phrase 5x in this thread so far (2:59, 3:49 [twice], 4:39, and 4:44). One might think, based on your repeated use of the phrase, that this was truly a picture of Tammy’s pet raccoon (and that somehow proves that she is not a racist).

    Sadly, no.

    From Patterioco himself:

After a commenter questioned whether that was really Tammy’s pad, I decided to search the Internets to see if the image was elsewhere — and it is. (emphasis in original)

I know the standard wingnut MO is to make up a lie and then repeat it over and over in the expectation that at least some people will eventually believe that it’s true. But this is just ridiculous — apparently, you did not even read the entire Patterico post that YOU linked to in order to “prove” your case.

    What a moran.

  44. timmy says:

I don’t think Tammy gives a shit whether she’s racist or not.

What matters to her is the use of intentional (but camouflaged) liberal-irritating political incorrectness to try and milk more support from her fans. Sadly, this happens far too often with conservative “pundits” these days.

  45. Indeed says:

I’m just wondering why you were able to see the racism connotation, Indeed, when exactly none of her commenters ever did.

    I bet that’s a braintrust.

  46. Indeed says:

I’m a man of my word

    Riggghhhhhhhttttt.

Yes, next time there’s a Rush Limbaugh thread

  47. Jaim says:

Republicans sure do love their dog-whistles.

But it’s nice to know Oliver back, and hence Dennis has meaning in his life once again.

  48. Felix Helix says:

You’ve got to be kidding me.

Look, this is just embarrassing. I understand and agree that hate speech should be monitored and confronted, but come on. To make any kind of a deal out of this is ridiculous.

You know how a lot of Republicans like to try to get under the skin of their opponents by referring to “the Democrat party” instead of “the Democratic party”? It’s annoying, it’s puerile, it’s grammatically incorrect, yeah yeah yeah whatever — it’s to be ignored. When you engage in a power struggle with adults who are acting like children, you become childish. And when you’re constantly on the lookout for people who might be messing with you, you start seeing things that aren’t there. Paranoia makes you sloppy.

    There’s nothing here.

  49. Dennis says:

It’s race hustling, Felix, pure and simple.

Apparently it’s a fun sport for the usuals here who are aficionados at it.
