Hard to know if that’s true, Dennis. It could be. But then again, it could be that Republicans support racist platforms. It could the spokespeople for the conservative side tend to spew venomous racist invective at many opportunities (see Limbaugh, etc). All of the above, perhaps. It’s tough to tease it out. Your hypothesis is a bit self-serving, but my alternatives are self-serving to my side. Maybe we should ask black people what they think.

No offense to Oliver, but I’m fairly sure that his influence on the discourse and on the average black voter is tiny, tiny, tiny. A relatively small blog with a small following is not why black people vote Democratic.

Given the current state of the Republican party, their de facto leadership, and the who knows how many Dittohead Jim David Adkissons out there, she probably ought to.
She threw with her body, so that the windup actually helped propel her motion forward. Obama’s wind-up did nothing for the forward motion of his shoulder and arm; the throw was almost all in his wrist. He played hoops, his throw was more like and overhead basketball pass than a baseball throw. No big deal. It’s not a knock on Obama.

I think it’s somewhat true that sometimes the Democratic Party may take some black votes for granted. Still, if the Republican Party really wants to attract African-American voters, they have to do a lot more than simply point out Democratic foibles. Not letting Rush Limbaugh drive your public agenda would be a good start. Not being so closely identified with neo-Confederates would also help.
