The Detroit Lions were bound to win their first game in two seasons sooner or later. Whether it was against Washington or another team doesn't really matter. We live in a world where the Cubs may still win a pennant someday. Things happen. I wish Washington's fans would stop crying.

If I owned the Yucs, somebody sure as hell would have gotten fired after this week's debacle. That was one of the most miserable performances in the history of the league. No NFL team should ever get routed that badly, at least in the free agency era.

NFL head coaches almost never get fired this early and even if somehow Zorn did get the boot, most likely an asst. would get the job. However, losing to a team that hadn't won in 2 years (at home no less) is beyond bad and clearly the team is in disarray...if I were Snyder I'd think about firing Zorn and throwing whatever it takes at Jon Gruden.

The Rooney family seems to do well with the Steelers, but they have a system they've been running through three head coaches, and they have Dick LeBeau, who is the defensive guru of the last 20 years. I have oodles more respect for Dick than Buddy Ryan, although Rex Ryan is showing that he's seriously got chops this year with the Jets.

Saints(Who Dat!) and Bears won so I am happy. As for the Redskins, it has become painfully simple where the problem lies. Every meglomaniac owner who shoves thier noses in the middle of football operations ends up sucking but does it with tons of flash.

Kinda miss the early-'80s Bengals....particularly the year they changed their jersey design (was it '81-'82?) That team showed a fight in them I've not seen in years...even into the Super Bowl, where (IMO) they *almost* beat the Joe Montana-led Niners.

......rats, now you have mi kinda pinin' for the Theismann (before his broken leg)-led 'Skins...that was a good, rough-and-tough team, too....

Sorry. I told ya when he was hired that we Seattlites were scratching our heads/laughing out loud, and Zorn's our hometown guy.

At best, during his time here, he was one-part spaceman and one-part god freak. But, you know, he threw dodgeballs at the QBs, so that makes him a genius.

EVERYONE was calling for the Lions to beat the Skins last week. So the real indictment of Zorn is that he couldn't rally the troops around that and use it as motivation leading up to the game.

Instead, the first half was a shambles. THAT is why Zorn must go.

Leave it to Snyder. He just got...

ZORNED!

Washington very quickly became Oakland--East under Snyder (who developed all the death-inducing micromanagement of Al Davis, but without the pedigree). I seriously doubt firing Zorn is the answer; although hiring him certainly wasn't. Washington would markedly improve if ownership simply adopted a hands-free approach and leave the football to people who know what they're doing. Blaming Zorn is like blaming Art Shell for the Raiders' 2-14 season in 2006. Sure, he didn't do much to help the situation, but it was hardly his fault. . . and it's not like Lane Kiffin (or his DC equivalent) is going to be any better.
