If it’s not ATS, why bother?

  2. Because it’s not Vegas? I’m just picking football games dude.

  3. John O says:

Oliver, c’mon, you gotta pick against the spread.

I mean, sure, you can do what you want being as it is your blog and all…

…but it’s much more fun and predictive of your football acumen to go against the prevailing numbers.

Frequent lurker, first-time commenter. Love your work.

  4. I’ll be perfectly honest: I BARELY understand the spread and how to read it. The one time was when I bet on the Steelers to win the SuperBowl a couple years ago.

  5. Jaim says:

To defend my man Oliver, plenty of sports media talking heads do “locks of the week” or what have you that aren’t against the spread.

  6. Crusty Dem says:

NE? Seriously? They’re going to get destroyed. Did you see any of their first two games? They had no right winning that game against Buffalo and were embarrassed by the Jets. They’re truly a mediocre team (Brady can’t stand up behind the terrible O-line and their defense is weak).

  7. While the Patriots aren’t anywhere near the 2007 Patriots I would wait a while before saying they’re horrible.

  9. Repack Rider says:

You’re not out on any limbs here, but as Niner fan, I would say that you shouldn’t take MN over SF just because of home field and hand-off Bret.

Like to see Patrick Willis chase Bret around, and we’ll see how that turf feels on 39-year old bones. And Frank Gore is looking very AP-like.

Add the Mike Singletary factor. He seems to be the best motivator among active coaches, even if he isn’t the X-and-O man Nolan was.

Game starts in thirteen minutes. Gotta go find my game face. In three hours, one of us is a chump.
