They didn’t “lobby to change the law,” they changed it! Followed the rules. Now the Republicans are rushing to ask “unelected, unaccountable dictators in robes” to circumvent the legislative process.

The hypocrisy of the left and Kennedy in particular is breathtaking. This is a raw political power grab pure and simple. Democrats lobbied to change the law a few years back to it’s form of a few weeks back and then when the Coward of Chappaquidick could see the handwriting on the wall he shamelessly pushed to change it back.

But what do you expect? Ted Kennedy was a man of low morals, no honor, a coward much like his father. The perfect liberal, the perfect Democrat.

Lessee if the MA Court challenges can be cleared before the special election—give the Appointee a chance to do something more than simply warm the seat before the real replacement arrives.

Oh, and if we can pull a “look over there” moment…

When I looked at your frontpage just now, Oliver, there was a web ad for “NetBoots: the web development team for conservatives”

I had to laugh at the sheer awful messaging.

First, these people can’t come up with an original slogan to save their lives, and so shamelessly ape the more successful online left’s self-designation, the “Netroots”.

Second, they totally misunderstand the concept… “Netroots” stands for “Internet grassroots”, i.e, grassroots folks coming together on their own over the internet to try to accomplish what they want. Kinda the opposite of “pay our company to front a web presence for you that will look totally like regular people did it!”

Third, and worst, “NetBOOTS”? Are these guys using Stalin’s aphorism “Wear boots, because when you kick a man in the head he’ll never find his teeth”? I mean we all know the right is fond of its shiny jackboots, but even I didn’t think they’d be quite so up front about it!

Actually I’d favor an appointment before a special election could be arranged regardless of political affiliation. It allows the state full representation until the people can properly elect a successor. Just make sure the appointee is from the same party as the senator s/he is replacing.

The important part is representation of the people. Better a temporary replacement than none at all.

Farris, it seems they did pass legislation to enable this to happen, so the rule of law was followed. The whole special election debacle is pretty shameless, of course, but they aren’t just ignoring law… unless I’m misunderstanding something.
