This report from the University Of Northern Iowa does an interesting job of tracking just how the conservative media made ACORN into a national story last year by hurling a lot of accusations (ie voter fraud when at best the cases were of individual voter registration fraud – aka “Mickey Mouse” can’t vote) that the compliant mainstream media picked up and repeated like the empty vessels they are. Good stuff.
More good stuff on this bulljive from R-Perl and ‘Zilla.
Cons heart memory holing Gale Norton’s interior department corruption. White discount.
I wish that the Right showed the same kind of outrage about the corruption at Blackwater or KBR as they did about ACORN. But, since our discourse is ruled by partisan, ignorant talk show hosts, that is unlikely.

Two Cheers for Andrew Breitbart
Sometimes it takes an outsider to show the press corps the way.
–Jack Shafer
Slate Magazine???
….The critics of Breitbart and the filmmakers don’t really dispute the basic information unearthed by the videos. Instead, they take issue with the duo’s spectrum of deception or their political motives in pursuing ACORN. The liberal advocacy group Media Matters for America complains that the ACORN videos, which aren’t a “major story,” are driving an “incomplete, misleading” media stampede. But Media Matters is wrong. Independent news organizations, including the Washington Post, the New York Post, and the Baltimore Sun, are chasing the ACORN story not because they’ve been bamboozled by the Breitbart exposé but because the dress-up stunt has pointed them toward what could be fertile grounds for wrongdoing…..
The very kind of expose liberals would normally be cheering.
Andrew Breitbart hints strongly that after his ACORN and NEA victories, a third one is on order for next week. Which will make it three cheers for Breitbart.
“But, since our discourse is ruled by partisan, ignorant talk show hosts, that is unlikely.”
You’re right, Oprah has dropped the ball on this one.
“Which will make it three cheers for Breitbart.”
Given Dimblart’s fear of the “black studies intelligentsia crowd, its a safe bet that he wants another “expose” that portrays undeserving and duplicitous liberals / minorites as suddenly becoming empowered in some dishonest way with aid of the new executive branch.
In reality however, Dimblart and the rest of his Hollywood practice squad just totally suck at their chosen professions. So they bitch and moan, blaming the liberal universe for their struggle, rather than accept the fact that Capitalism is kicking their shit to the curb.
Paul Underscore D, one only need log on to Biggovernment.com and check the scoreboard for the hits ACORN has taken and is highly likely to be taking much more of to see just how bad Andrew sucks at his chosen profession.
Andrew still has all his battleships. ACORN…not so much.
“one only need log on to Biggovernment.com and check the scoreboard for the hits ACORN has taken and is highly likely to be taking much more of to see just how bad Andrew sucks at his chosen profession.
You’re right Denny Boy, though Big Gubnit’ pretty much works on the same principal; impotent political dead-end malcontents (AM radio f-listers, backwater district repesentatives, Jeff Gannon wannabees). However if it is “Big Government” they’re after, then braying about ACORN and the NEA is like batting .000 for the tee-ball season then proudly displaying the participation trophy like it’s an Olympic medal.
Acorn is a good litmus test.
As an old lefty I applaud Acorn – and it’s SPECTACULAR success in helping register the people who helped kill Republican power in America. IF I was a Righty I’d want their blood too.
ANY group helping to organize the poor and minorities IS GOOD. Even if they have gone too far. Acorn is NOT A THREAT to American Democracy it IS ONE OF ITS SAVIORS.
FYI: Media Matters responded to the Slate story.
Ok…let’s try that again
But, since our discourse is ruled by partisan, ignorant talk show hosts, that is unlikely.
So what’s a few electrocuted soldiers among friends, amirite?
a third one is on order for next week. Which will make it three cheers for Breitbart.
Goat fuckers at Slate magazine!?
The point is to try and drag Obama down with breathless tales of ginned up scandals. Frankly I’m surprised the right just doesn’t admit it. It worked well enough for them under Clinton after all.
The fact that they get to bash on brown people at the same time just makes it all the more appealing to them. I’m looking forward to seeing where ACORN’s lawsuit leads.
There are several possible scandals brewing that the right could latch on to. The fact that they went after ACORN is EXTREMELY telling.
Acorn is NOT A THREAT to American Democracy it IS ONE OF ITS SAVIORS.
Yeah, but they’re ……you know….. that way. Like the President. Therefore they must be a threat to democracy. Somehow.
I wish that the Right showed the same kind of outrage about the corruption at Blackwater or KBR as they did about ACORN.
Yes. This. How many billions of your tax dollars have been funneled to Blackwater and KBR? Where is the conservative outrage over soldiers killed by shoddy contract work? Embezzlement and mismanagement of federal funds? Murder and rape perpetrated by employees of Blackwater who just walk away scott free?
If ACORN is dirty, shut ‘em down. But the ACORN scandal doesn’t even begin to approach the shite that went down at Blackwater, or the ungodly amount of our tax dollars that disappeared down the black hole of private contractors in Iraq.
In over 15 years ACORN has received $53 million dollars from the government and have been involved with a hand full of VOTER REGISTRATION FRAUD (not voter fraud). In over 6 or 7 years Blackwater and Halliburton have received billions of dollars from the government, and have been involved in killings or Iraqi citizens and other frauds.
When are we going to defund them?
Oops should have been “have been involved in killings of Iraqi citizens…”
The Right’s Acorn Strategy.
In action. I wonder how it could have happened. Perhaps we should review History.
Keepin’ it
Klassy!
Know what I mean?
Funny, Indeed, your hero ‘Mr. Eliminationists’ didn’t have anything to say on the violent Leftist uprising in Pittsburgh yesterday. Cat must’ve gotten his tongue. That and his video didn’t have anyone calling anyone the N-word, but that doesn’t stop him from putting it in the title of his post. Liberal bloggers are funny that way, aren’t they, Indeed? Gosh, and he didn’t even put a question mark in the title; he must’ve had more than a hunch, I guess.
Meanwhile….ACORN’s Acorn strategy.
WaPo: ACORN a Reverse Robin Hood
Nice. If you have concerns about a Democrat-shilling 501 c 3 organization transfering millions of dollars of taxpayer money meant to go to the poor and channeled it to politicians and THEMSELVES, it means you don’t care about the poor….. AND you’re a racist…according to Indeed, Susie Madrak and David Neiwert.
The Left’s ACORN strategy.

From the link to the above video revealing The Right’s Acorn Strategy:
Stay Klassy, party of, well, you know…
Indeed, Susie Madrak and Neiwert, all proponents of ACORN taking money meant to go to the poor and instead channeling it to Democrat politicians.
And then calling people racist for opposing such behavior, along with their willingness to aid and abet child prostitution.
Talk about Circular Confirmation.
It’s how they roll.
It’s who they are.
It’s what they do.

You seem to left this part out of your quote, Dennis:
Hmmm. Wrongdoing uncovered and corrected. A strategy utterly alien to right, it’s true, but you could have at least included these paragraphs in your quote in the interest of intellectual honesty, Dennis. Oh, oops. Another alien concept to you …
fafaroo, you have to be fucking kidding me. Bertha Lewis saying ACORN used to have problems under previous management but they’ve been overhauled, might fly for someone who hasn’t seen any of the videos of their employees having absolutely no reservations whatsoever in helping people out with child prostitution rings, but for the rest of us, we can only laugh at that.
And I included the link for anyone who care to read the rest of it, so there’s absolutely no intellectual dishonesty. I just didn’t want to add insult to injury.
FAIL.
fafaroo, you have to be fucking kidding me.
No, Dennis, I wasn’t.
I find it funny that Dennis is so worried about the so-called corruption of ACORN.
So Dennis, why are you not upset that the government is not defunding Blackwater (or “Xe” as they are known now), or Halliburton and KBR? These companies continue to receive hundred millions of dollars from the US government. One contract alone (which they all have several contracts with the government) cost more than what ACORN received in 15 years. And these companies have been accused of fraud, and are being investigated in being involved in prostitution rings, and in the killings of Iraqi civilians and AMERICAN SOLDIERS.
Why the hell hasn’t Congress defunded these bastards? And why aren’t the Republicans crying bloody hell over that?
I guess to the Republicans votes matter more than American’s losing money or losing their lives.
cj,
Dude, ACORN lost freakin’ Barney Frank.
Put that in your bong and smoke it.
I guess to the Republicans votes matter more than American’s losing money or losing their lives.
I don’t really see any other conclusion to be drawn.
Dude, ACORN lost freakin’ Barney Frank.
By which you mean Rep. Frank is more concerned about irregularities at Acorn than republicans are about KBR, Blackwater, etc.
Really, Wilbur.
That’s the only conclusion you can draw when Congress is controlled by Democrats and they don’t defund Halliburton but they do defund ACORN? You blame Republicans?
83-7 Senate vote to defund ACORN.
345-75 vote in the House.
And they beat the Halliburton horse to death for a full eight years; even more, actually. Then when they get control of all branches of government, what? They still can’t come up with anything. Yet when two young kids do a little investigative work on ACORN and expose them for the corrupt organization that they are, your Democratic-controlled Congress folds yet again like a cheap rug. As does Obama, and the Census and the IRS.
I’d think you’d be embarrassed to bring up Halliburton now. Pretty weak defense.
But you still blame Republicans.
Waiting on you guys, Wil.
Where’s the beef?
Why don’t you find some young hot chick and the both of you could go into KBR and Blackwater and do the same thing the O’Keefe and Giles did and get it on tape and become liberal heroes, Wilbur.
I think I’ve got a chinchilla coat up in my attic somewhere if memory serves. I’d be happy to loan it to you.
“I think I’ve got a chinchilla coat up in my attic somewhere if memory serves.”
I bet you do.
Dennis-”And they beat the Halliburton horse to death for a full eight years; even more, actually.”
Just like Republicans cry over ACORN or some other organization that helps minorities and the poor, but when they are in power they do sh*t about it.
Republicans are only targeting ACORN because they see them as a easy target to get back at the Dems.
I do say I will agree (and hopefully the last time) with that the Dems are being pussies by going alone with the fake outrage that Republicans are spewing out. The Dems are only digging a hole for themselves.
And again you ignored what I said, which was Why the hell aren’t you upset over Congress NOT defunding these companies that have been accused of or being investigated of crimes more offensive than what ACORN is accused of doing?
Prostitution rings, fraud (real fraud/ losing billions of Americans dollars),killings of innocent Iraqi civilians and OUR AMERICAN SOLDIERS, does this not upset you?
Republicans are only targeting ACORN because they see them as a easy target to get back at the Dems.
What makes ACORN an easy target? I think I know why — what would your answer be?
@Frank-Are we in a classroom taking a test or something, why do you want to know my answer?
Anyways the reason why I think ACORN is a easy target is because they don’t have lobbyists to lobby Congress and give them the big bucks. So they really don’t have people in Congress that would be behind their back. Republicans do like them because they do mobilize people (mainly minorities) to vote(the got 1 million people to vote this last election), and they also help the poor get the help they need. ACORN was one of the main organization that was telling Congress about those sub-prime loan scams but no one listened.
