    Very nice. Very, very nice.

Didn’t know they were in the healthcare business.

“and a mini zoo in thier backyard” lol

Sean, I’m convinced that you you don’t know what the word “Marxist” means. I know you silly children think that any word that ends in “ism” or “ist” is negative, but really, Google is your friend.

From the context s/he appears to think “Marxist” means “buncha fags!”

Here’s a question: How many health insurance policies could the people who starred in that video collectively purchase for people in the United States?

Will Ferrel paid nearly $10 million for his house. He’s earned just from films alone nearly $140 million in the last 3 years.

I really don’t care how much money they make and I think they should get all they can. The ad was funny (because anything Will Ferrell does is funny IMO) but its part of a serious effort and nothing irks me more than multi-millionaires bleating about about how the government needs to spend more tax dollars.

Presumably Ferrel doesn’t mind paying his share of taxes – you know, that extra 3% that Obama wants to levy, the one that conservatives get their panties in such a twist about – so that those not fortunate enough to be multi-millionaires can have access to affordable healthcare.

    I know, crazy, ain’t it?

And? It’s not like he can’t pay that now if he wanted to. That’s part of my point. How many millions of people talk about how “they don’t mind” paying more taxes? Well giddy up! Nobody’s stopping them? Get the checkbook out and start sending checks to the US Treasury. They’ll cash them.

  9. SaveFarris says:

Hollywood Actors complaining that someone makes too much money?

    Pass.

  10. SaveFarris says:

Coming straight after 8 solid years of “Chickenhawk” … no, it’s really not.

  11. Jaim says:

Shorter chickenhawk Jay: Rich people aren’t allowed to sympathize with poor people!

  12. White Whale says:

Shorter Farris: “You can’t call someone a chickenhawk! They don’t exist!”

  13. Luv says:

Wait, Jay finds something wrong with wealthy entertainers (who were more than likely all born in middle class or poor circumstances) wanting affordable health care for those less fortunate than they are?

    WTF?

  14. farfroo says:

Who wants to bet that Will doesn’t turn in a 1040 EZ form every year, but has a legion of accountants to help him minimize his taxes?

Speaking of insurance…you do know that the FDIC is essentially bankrupt? They are now proposing that banks insure themselves –

Unless they are on the boards of Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, who are getting those tax dollars through the simple expedient of buying a politician like Cunningham or Cheney.

Ferrell doesn’t need the kind of money you make from a TV spot, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he did it gratis. When you point out that the guy has made a lot of money over the last few years, I notice you didn’t say how much of that he donated to charities, or how many appearances he might have made on behalf of good causes. Because you don’t know, and I don’t either.

But Ferrell puts his mouth where his money is, which really irks you, and whatever irks you entertains me.

    Popcorn? Check.

    Beer? Check.

    Comfortable chair? Check.

Okay, please continue your complaining about Will Ferrell’s social consciousness.

  17. Jay says:

Why is it absurd Oliver? Can somebody explain to me what is so virtuous about saying you “don’t mind” paying more in taxes?

Ferrell doesn’t need the kind of money you make from a TV spot, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he did it gratis.

It wouldn’t surprise me either dummy. He founded ‘Funny or Die.’ Run along. Enjoy yr beer and popcorn (a nasty combination btw).

  18. Jaim says:

What, no GOP talking points Jay? Stop being so lazy and get to back to work trolling.

  19. Southern Quaker says:

Can somebody explain to me what is so virtuous about saying you “don’t mind” paying more in taxes?

I don’t mind paying my taxes. I like schools, and roads, and yes, even safety nets for the less fortunate. Who knows, I or my kids may be less fortunate in the future.

Maybe it has something to do with wanting to help build a society that benefits everyone?

    just a thought

  20. fafaroo says:

    farfroo?

    WTF.

  21. gumby says:

Rich people can’t support health care reform because they are rich and should give all their money away or shutup. And poor people can’t support health care reform because they are just trying to leech off the system and make other people pay for something they should pay for themselves.

So, voila! No one can support health care reform!

(Psst… Jay. Look up “ad hominem” in the dictionary! It’s a fallacy. Then look up fallacy.)

  22. Quaker in a Basement says:

(Psst… Jay. Look up “ad hominem” in the dictionary! It’s a fallacy. Then look up fallacy.)

Hey, lighten up, gumbs. Jay knows all about logical fallacy.

  23. gumby says:

Yes, but he spells it with a “ph”.

And that has to do with discussion…what, exactly?

I beginning to think you people don’t even know WHY you’re against health-care reform.

  25. Repack Rider says:

Can somebody explain to me what is so virtuous about saying you “don’t mind” paying more in taxes?

Generosity and compassion for one’s fellow citizens are overrated as virtues.

  26. gumby says:

…and lack of compassion is often mistaken for strength.

  27. Sean D. Martin says:

Luv: I beginning to think you people don’t even know WHY you’re against health-care reform.

Oh, that’s easy. It’s because a Democrat is president.

  28. farfroo says:

    @Luv

Sorry Luv, I forget that most of the people here don’t actually pay taxes, let me explain.

A 1040 EZ form doesn’t allow itemization of deductions. That means that if barbara streisand and funny boy Farrell filed them, they would pay a WHOLE lot of tax! And they are welcome to do it!

However, both of those individuals have legions of CPA’s just to find out how to get out of paying said taxes. However, those of us rich people (you know, the ones making at least 10 times less than the rich hollywood types) need to have their taxes increased.

Come back and talk to me when the rich hollywood liberals are filing 1040 EZ forms.
