Giants beat Cowboys 33-31 on last-second FG
Lawrence Tynes sent home the largest regular-season crowd in NFL history muttering about what might’ve been.
Tynes kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired, giving the New York Giants a 33-31 victory over the turnover-prone Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night and ruining the debut of their rival’s $1.15 billion stadium.
Bwahahahahahahahaha! Sure, I hate the Giants, but Sunday they were on the side of the angels, beating the Cowboys in their new house. I of course want the Giants to start losing games, but I’m okay with this win vs. evil.
ALSO: FedexField may not be the greatest setup for fan experience in the league, but in attending just my second home game (I’ve seen the Skins play twice in Arizona and once in San Diego) I’m reminded how much fun it is to have 90,000 or so fans all on your side. It’s somewhat tribal, with the ritual wearing of jerseys, hats, etc. and it probably scratches some caveman itch but I loved it.
It’s also interesting just how far behind the Fox broadcast of the game is. At certain points they were about 60 seconds behind reality.
FINALLY: The NFL gave the okay to NFL teams doing marketing deals with local lotteries, and the Redskins deal is with the Virginia Lottery. During the game they mentioned this. A lot. A whole lot. And you know what? Even though I favor legalized gambling of all sorts, it looked really scummy to be promoting lotto scratchoffs during an NFL game.

60 seconds behind is nothing. Fox is living in the pre civil war era for much of it’s broadcasts and generally doesn’t get beyond the early 1960′s (pre civil rights laws).
All right Willis, settle down. Anybody can get lucky and catch a ball bouncing off someone’s foot. Your skins better bring their A-game November 22nd, bud.
Bush with the ceremonial coin toss …like we needed another reason to hate the Cowgirls.
Go Big Blue! ….2-0
I’m with you Oliver. It was a hard pill for me to swallow in rooting for the Giants last night, but I’m soooo glad they beat the Cowboys. Now, let’s hope the pouty-boy and his team lose the next 5 games. HooYah!
BTW, I think all the games now have that 60 second delay. I believe it is a rule that went into effect after the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.
Feh, I’m a Cowboys fan and they deserved to lose that game. The first two turnovers were ridiculous, especially the pick-6 Romo threw…who the heck was he throwing to? That’s 14 points right there that the Giants shouldn’t have had. Maybe they were nervous, first time for real in the new building? Dunno. They looked better as the game went along, but you can’t turn the ball over. Terence Newman giving up that 34-yard pass interference by cutting off the receiver’s route…it should have been 4th and long and a Giants punt from deep in their own end, instead he makes a rookie mistake like that?
Feh, I say. Not a good effort. They’re better than that.
Yeah, bwoy!!! Beating Tony “I Cant Win A Playoff Game to Save My Life” Romo in the first game in the new stadium was much more gratifying than whooping the ‘skins the week prior. And the Eagles lost? Ahhhh, ’twas a good day! Note to Jerry – Try buying a QB instead of spending 1.2 billion on a new playground for yourself.
