I’m happy that my Commander-in-Chief is continuing his predecessors “Kill Terrorists” policy. If not with as much vigor as his predecessor.

Mehsud also participated in the anti-Soviet Afghan jihad and later assisted the Afghan Taliban in their fight against the Northern Alliance. During his years of fighting in Afghanistan, he drew inspiration from Mullah Omar, the Afghan Taliban chief, and of course the likes of Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri. Mehsud embraced their vision of an Islamic state, based on sharia (as they interpret it).

I don’t think that expanding the terrorist organizations which have had their leadership and such killed or captured is going to help the case that President Obama is more effective at this than President Bush was. All else being equal, President Bush simply had more to choose from.

It’s a list of top al-Qaeda officials and operators killed or captured. I don’t know if you noticed, but that organization has been suffering some personnel attrition for the past few years.

I guess it’s only fair to throw in folks like Aden Hashi Ayro who was killed May 18, 2008. But he was with al-Shabab.
