There will be official leaders of the Republican party in attendance. Slated to speak are people like Rep. Mike Pence. So, when the images and video come back (I’m planning on going down there myself, follow my Twitter for updates) I don’t want to hear about how it was just regular people in attendance or that it was just “the fringe”, etc. OFFICIAL REPUBLICAN OFFICIALS in attendance, their blessing given to the proceedings.
Just noting this for the record, in case we get one of those revisionist history moments that are a hallmark of the right. Oh, also, the teabaggers will be sharing time on the Mall with the National Black Family Reunion. The Mall is big enough where the two groups might not cross paths.
But then again, they might.
ALSO: All sorts of wild estimates about the turnout. I even heard 2 million from one (I doubt it or I would have noticed something going on on my way home from work), but for reference this is what the Mall looks like when there are millions of people there. I know because I was there at President Obama’s inauguration. These people over-inflate their numbers every time, so expect to see that 300 million people turned up — just in DC.

Out of a morbid sense of curiosity, I took a look to see what those at the White Supremacist website Stormfront are saying about the event. Looks like they have a section of their news specifically for Tea Parties now.
Turns out that lots of those on the board are going. In fact, they’re using the site to arrange carpools.
Here are a few comments:
“Some may describe me as a coward for saying this, but is it paticularly wise (to go)? Their are a lot of Negro’s in Washington DC, who may riot en masse at the site of a large number of anti-Obama Whites demonstrating. At the very least, it might be wise to take weapons for the purposes of defense- would that be permitted in D.C.?”

I’m sure you’ll find dozens of inappropriate signs. But then again, I’ve never seen you hold Pelosi, Durbin, Obama, etc. accountable when the fringe Left bring their ‘Free Mumia’, Che’ shirts, and Palestinian flags to their rallys, so today will be nothing more than your average Oliverpocrisy.

Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation of DC TEA Party Planners
On the eve of what organizers call a ‘Big Ol’ TEA Party’, the Washington, D.C., offices of FreedomWorks were evacuated by DC Metro police on Friday afternoon after the conservative organization reported to authorities at 3:42 pm ET that it had received a bomb threat.
At 4:48 pm ET, the organization put out a Twitter message saying that it turned out to be a false alarm but the organization is not happy about the disruption.

I would like to apologize in advance to our friendly blog host, because this reply is going to get a little salty.

In less than 4 hours from now I will be attending the funeral of an acquaintance who lived a few blocks from me. About 3 weeks ago he collapsed at home and was rushed to the hospital, unconscious. He turned out to have a severe spinal hematoma, and despite heroic efforts at revival, his EEG was flat. His heart was kept pumping artificially and was receiving nutrition only by a feeding tube. After 3 days without brain activity, and a last-ditch attempt to turn his brain back on with a special drug that had to be flown in failed, it was decided to turn off life support. He died in the hospital the same night I was attending a town hall meeting for Frank Pallone listening to other moron inbred assholes like you bitch about euthanasia.
Now thank God, THANK GOD, that Al and his wife and his family had discussed end-of-life issues and had a living will and physician directive (or as crazy Jesus bitch Sarah Palin would call it, a “death panel”) clearly indicating that he did not want pointless heroic measures in the event of brain death, and so his family was able to act calmly and follow his wishes in this traumatic situation. But you and all your fellow “compassionate” “pro-Life” ghouls would happily tear that decision making power away from them and force their family to keep Al on heart-lung machines forever with his brain turning to mush because it would make you feel better about your miserable twisted selves.
This story is even better because Al had worked for years in the library system at CUNY, but a new administrator 2 or 3 years ago decided that they could save money by canning all their older and chronic health problem employees. Jobless in his late 50s, and struggling to keep what insurance they had through COBRA payments from their only income, Al’s meager pension (which was also cut), they lost their home (fortunately other friends nearby, godless liberals who actually care about their fellow man, took Al and his wife in) and were sometimes late with insurance payments. The insurance has said it would be reducing their benefits as a result. Al needed a heart operation a few years ago and so he and his wife decided to try to reserve what payments they could get all for his heart needs, and so his wife hasn’t seen a doctor in 2 years despite having had a gall bladder operation a few years ago.
So despite being screwed over by their insurance and by his work, assholes like you and Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity et al. seem to think that we don’t need to have some kind of public plan that folks like these could rely on. No, they could have just saved up the money for that heart operation in savings account, right? If only they weren’t such lazy losers!
Fuck you you America-hating scumbag. The fact is that you and Bible Spice and the rest of the Republican Nazi Party WANT THESE PEOPLE TO DIE. That is not the same as being elderly and frail, perhaps a burden on your children or others, and facing a panel of strangers, asking you whether you should go on receiving expensive life sustaining treatment should you become comatose or immobile.

I know a guy that racked up almost ten grand worth of hospital bills due to an infection that got out of control. Said he didn’t mind tho. That’s a real good way to dispell the idea of “death panels”. Zeke and Obama are both on record discussing the idea of rationing scarce resources and shifting care away from the elderly. Frank is on more solid ground than the concencus here on this topic.
But more on target of this thread, there were an awful lot of real Americans in D.C. today engaging in robust political discourse trying to get their country back. There is hope for the Republic that the pendulum may swing before Obama’s welfare state comes to full fruition.
They might be “real Americans” AO, but not all of them are good Americans (at least not those with the offensive signs like “Where’s my gun” and “Bury Obamcare with Kennedy.” And yeah, the “not-good-Americans” characterization applies to those idiots at left-wing rallies too who are carrying similarly offensive signs and placards).
