The Greatest Ever
Tweet
I am not a huge basketball fan, in fact I’m a casual one at best. But there was a time when I was an avid watcher of the game. Why? Michael Jordan. At his prime we had a chance to see a guy who was like Bart Starr, Babe Ruth, and Muhammad Ali at their greatest heights in all their sports combined. When Jordan was on the court you knew he would win it, somehow. And look just SICK in the process.
Tonight MJ is going into the hall of fame and the only question is: what took so long? Heh.
Of all the Jordan commercials (and there are something like 80 million), this was my faviroite:

Bart Starr?
Aw yeah. That one playoff game was just um-bee-leevable when he had the flu and could barely stand, but he still hit the winning shots down the stretch.
Yeah, Bart Starr.
what took so long?
You have to be retired for five years, and MJ has only been retired since 03 (the Wizard years).
Huh. As of 10 years ago The Sporting News rated him the 41st best player in football history. It’s like picking Tony Gwynn or Mel Ott to represent baseball.
Anyway, nice tribute to Money. He was truly awesome.
OK, fine. If not Bart Starr, how about Ringo Starr?
GOAT. By the way gotta suck to be Patrick Ewing. That guy has been posterized more than any other center. GrandmaMa even posterized him.
Bart Starr is not the greatest QB in the history of the Green Bay Packers, let alone anywhere near the top 10 of the NFL.
Unitas is the guy you want, if you are going old-old school.
I noticed you omitted his tenure in D.C. Good move.
Bart Starr? Anyway, no question on Jordan – simply and absolutely the best ever.
I could live without seeing any more John Stockton in his nut hugger shorts footage
The Greatest Ever.
One thing O-Dub -and I ain’t hatin’
Bill Russell.
Just because you’re a electrifying high scorer, doesn’t mean you’re “the greatest”- It’s about winning too and not playing baseball in your spare time.
just wondering–was the vote unanimous?
Sounds like MJ played the whining bitchy punk in his speech at the Hall of Fame, like he hadn’t made it emotionally out of high school play in North Carolina. Not a word of graciousness about him, all about settling scores.

Nobody said he was ever anything but a prick.
Starr? Not even top 25 QBs all time. What’d he do before and after Lombardi?
Packers were an amazing team. Their offensive line had, what, four H-o-Fers? Hornung. Taylor. Etc. Put Starr on the Eagles and ‘Skins of the sixties, and Jurgensen on the Packers, and the results would have been the same for the Pack, but the Eagles and Skins might have been even worse.
Great leader. Consummate winner, but statistically in the same league as, say Don Meredith.
Sure, but he was no Gretzky.
