Spare Us The Vetting Lectures

The result of the thoroughly vetted Donald Rumsfeld’s tenure
Now Bush administration officials are wagging their fingers over the vetting of Van Jones? Really? The people who brought us Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, Harriet Miers, Michael Brown and not to mention Bush and Cheney themselves are going to lecture anyone on vetting?
Negro, please.

Micheal “Heck of a Job” Brown….end of story.
Why do reporters continue to ask these people questions? They’ve been consistently wrong about EVERYTHING.
On a positive note, now that conservatives are clear about excluding ex-commies from politics, we won’t have to hear any more from Crazy Davey Horowitz.
Right guys?
“death squads are a good thing”-cable news on John Negroponte
Your use of this photo in this way is a fucking obscenity.
As to your tenuously-labeled “point,” Rumsfeld had previously served as Secretary of Defense AND was confirmed by the Senate.
Brown and Gonzalez were also approved by the Senate. Miers was White House Counsel, which doesn’t require Senate approval. She was nominated for the Supreme Court, which did require confirmation, but she withdrew after a firestorm of criticism — from both sides. So that’s bullshit, too.
AND the race card at the end. What a surprise.
But back to your use of that photo… fuck you, you worthless sack of shit. That is quite possibly the most obscene exploitation of the honored dead I have ever seen.
J.
That is quite possibly the most obscene exploitation of the honored dead I have ever seen.
Then you should have been paying more attention when they were sent off to die in the first place.
So none of the conservatives have yet explained why they weren’t angry about Bush’s various czars w/out the senate stamp of approval. At least not that I’ve seen.
JT, I’m a veteran and you are not. Therefore my opinion of how my deceased brothers and sisters in arms should be presented is worth more than yours.
I approve of the photo, since it illustrates important points, the waste of lives and the crippling of our military for nothing more than Bush’s petty ego, and the number of incompetents he rounded up to harm our nation.
If you don’t like what you see here, nobody is making you stay. You could always start your own blog and let me comment there. You may have noticed that I never use obscenities in my responses.
Have you ever considered a hitch in the Armed Forces? I absolutely guarantee that Basic Training will straighten out that kink in your psyche, and make you appreciate the service of your betters. There is even a remote chance that it would make a man out of you.
A remote chance is better than no chance.
Looks like JT needs his bottle.
“Negro, please.”
I, as a caucasian, have every right to call you, a black man, a racist! Hooray for me and my counter-intuitive, and therefore correct and praiseworthy, line of reasoning!
Jay Tea is so busy getting offended in every thread that I hope he can keep up his “multi-tasking”. Although one wonders why he spends so much time reading and commenting on a blog that offends his delicate sensibilities so much. Sounds like an unhealthy obsession.
Repack Rider: Have you ever considered a hitch in the Armed Forces?
What are the “multi-tasking” benefits like?
Although one wonders why he spends so much time reading and commenting on a blog that offends his delicate sensibilities so much. Sounds like an unhealthy obsession.
Sounds more like an unemployed, former blog writer.
So, Jay Tea, what happened to the Commentary gig. Were you fired, did you resign or were you thrown under the bus?
My money’s on fired.
JT, help me understand how your mind works; what is offensive about the photo, and why would you, a guest, resort to using profanity against the host?
How I was raised, being a bad guest is akin to being a bad member of society.
If you people can’t understand what is so offensive about dead American soldiers being used by a political hack to defend a political hack’s putting a Communist in high office…
It ain’t worth it.
It never was.
J.
If you people can’t understand what is so offensive about dead American soldiers being used by a political hack to defend a political hack’s putting a Communist in high office…
But a political hack sending those soldiers off to die for political reasons…teh awesum, right Mr. Tea?
JT, Hah! You can’t even explain it! All you do is react without thinking! What is the source of your anger and rudeness? You know what? You don’t have to answer me. But at least answer Repack’s question.
Your use of this photo in this way is a fucking obscenity.
Perhaps if you people had been more offended at the actual dead people and the people who sent them to their deaths, somehow your fake umbrage would have slightly more resonance.
You bounce off the walls at the so-called communist, but you applauded and cheered as thousands of Americans died to glorify George W. Bush.
BE A MAN! ENLIST!
The most vocal supporters of the Iraq War have never seen the inside of a recruiting station. They were for the war just as long as someone else carried the rifle into combat.
If you people can’t understand what is so offensive about dead American soldiers being used by a political hack to defend a political hack’s putting a Communist in high office…
Two words for you about soldiers being used to make a political hack look good. “Mission Accomplished.” That was more than a photo that didn’t cost the taxpayers anything to be published here, that was a lot of money and an extra day at sea for the sole purpose of grafting a military image onto a coward.
JT, one of the benefits of having served is taking part in a PARADE. That’s when they tell everyone in your unit to have a fresh haircut and shoeshine, and turn out on an otherwise free Sunday morning so you can all march past some political hack in a public place, and at the command, “Eyes RIGHT!” you all look at him like you really care who he is. Did you ever, in your wildest imagination, assume that the soldiers you see in a parade actually wanted to be there, or that they give a shit who they are looking at? Just for kicks, get yourself a military rifle and carry it at shoulder arms for a half hour or so.
About appointing a “Communist” to a high office: I would like to know two things, first, what identifies Jones as a “communist,” and second, so what if he is? Why should his political views disqualify him from a job if he is competent at it? I realize that Bush et al required loyalty oaths, but isn’t this a step away from that odious condition of employment?
Do you ask the firemen arriving at your house to do their jobs whether they are communists? Nope, because it doesn’t matter as long as they put out the fire or rescue the cat or re-start grannie’s heart, right?
OTOH, we know that INcompetence was so highly prized in the previous administration that they hired the entire graduating class of Liberty University to run the DOJ and the Green Zone. You could say that rabid Republicanism would be a red flag on an employment application, not necessarily a deal-breaker but an indication of possible competence conflicts.
Remind me again who the Commander in Chief is.
Remind me again who, as a Senator, voted to fund the war.
Spare us the righteous sanctimony.
Jay,
Will you be as outraged the next time anti-abortion activists throw around pictures of aborted fetuses to get their point across?
Leaving aside the criticism by the Left, some of the most pointed and damning indictments of Dubya came from an Reagan era and Bush I era Republicans. Yeah, many were dismissed as Country Club Republicans, but they knew what they were doing, particularly when it came to foreign affairs. And even when they blundered, like when the Marine barracks were bombed in Beirut, they knew rather than to try to prove how tough they were and send other men to die, they cut their losses and brought them home. Bush II is the first president in history to leave 2 ongoing wars to his successor, all while leaving an empty Treasury.
But that is not nearly as outrageous as a picture of flag-drapped coffin.
Oliver, Oliver, Oliver,
Don’t you understand that depicting war dead is far, far worse than actually sending people off to die?
And that voting for a war is at least seventy-three times worse than engineering said war, and lying like a cheap rug to get it?
I swear, sometimes I wonder about you…
Farris, what’s funny, and sad, about folks like you is that you actually THINK you made a good point.
Who has been the party that has been disruptive, petty and manipulative since DAY ONE of Obama’s inauguration?
The folks you seem to be associated with, that’s who. Oh, hey, I didn’t mention bigoted, did I?
Jay took it upon himself, as official house troll, to call everyone “ball lickers” in other threads.
Now he wets his pants over decorum.
Priceless.
But I also want to ask Jay, why not just sign up for a hitch in the armed forces? You aren’t a chicken-hawk, are you?
“So none of the conservatives have yet explained why they weren’t angry about Bush’s czars w/out the senate stamp of approval. At least not that I’ve seen.”
And no members of the press have asked these conservatives about this discrepancy, either. Liberal media my behind.
And no members of the press have asked these conservatives about this discrepancy, either.
Why should they. “I don’t know if it’s true or not, but Lamar Alexander is a Serious Person, so if he says it, it’s Serious. And whether it’s total BS or not, it’s still News if a Serious Person like him says it. So there, I’ve reported Serious News. No need to do any fact checking. My work is done here. Time to play some World of Warcraft, after I click over and see if this week’s paycheck’s been deposited yet.”
-George When-I-Was-Young-I-Worked-For-Clinton-But-Then-I-Grew-Up-So-Now-I-Only-Work-For-Myself-And-When-I-Say-Work-I-Mean-As-Little-Work-As-Possible Stephanopoulos.
Well at least, the Democrats in Congress got to advise and consent the aforementioned people, the simple fact is Van Jones, was accepted not vetted. How do I know this? well either Obama the most technically advanced President in History can’t operate Google, or he didn’t care, or already know Van Jones views. Obama is not stupid, so it must be that he likes Van Jones and his views, but does not have the guts to stand up and say it. So with no defense on the subject, Democrats have to point to the past administration and say, “Look, little johnny did something worse”. Its childish, okay, if that’s your entertainment, but perhaps you should be watching South Park.
Oliver – “Negro, please.”
Cmon man if you’re gonna say it, go for the gold!
So speaking of dead soldiers, where are the nightly body counts and media footage of coffins coming home?
Or do you still think the drive by media is not biased?
Oliver Willis, I can appreciate your anti-war stance, I am a vet of Gulf 1, and as a Soldier everyone in this thread, Republicans and Democrats alike, should solute these fallen hero’s for their sacrifice and strength. Now, as a vet and VFW member I am not thin skinned, I will drink to the hero’s pictured to night, and say a prayer for them. And to the conservatives upset, I say the first amendment and the rest of the constitution was what these young men and women fight and die for.
JT:
Have you ever been to a military hospital? Have you ever seen the maimed up close and personal after they’ve returned home? It’s heart-wrenching. I live in San Antonio, Texas, perhaps the biggest military city in the country. I also happen to be a 21-year veteran of the armed forces. I’ve been to Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brook Army Medical Center. I’ve seen the maimed, the crippled; and I’ve seen their families. I can’t imagine the pain of any of it. It’s heart breaking.
Your “outrage” over the picture OW posted is laughable. If you really gave a damn about our country, you’d give a damn about the people being killed and disfigured for reasons that have yet to be satisfactorily justified to us by the previous or current administration.
Now I’m going to ask you to do something, and I’m typing very slowly so there’s no question what I’m asking: Explain in detail what is so offensive about photographs of coffins honored by our flag and their military escorts?
Jay Tea,
You spend so much time with your head up the arse of those politicians who send men and women to death…while they stay home and reap the financial benefits…you have no clue. Then you have the balls to cry because YOU can’t stomach the sight of the results. Don’t you realize that people like you are the cause of pictures like this? How many parents…wifes/husbands…sons and daughters of those dead men and women have you talked to? You and your like make me sick. Sitting behind your computer acting like you know what it’s like…you’re spineless…
Not one of you understands that my outrage isn’t over the photo itself, but the context.
Oliver is a one-trick pony. All he knows how to do is attack. He has zero ability to express an opinion without lashing out. He can’t promote, he can’t defend, he can’t advocate.
In this case, he can’t defend the appointment of Jones in any way, shape, or form. We KNOW the FBI investigated his background, so we KNOW the Obama administration knew they were bringing in a man who had formed a Marxist revolutionary group.
So, instead, Oliver attacks.
And he uses the bodies of dead American service members as his weapon of choice.
Dead American service members whose image is being used to defend a Marxist revolutionary.
“Defend” in Oliver-speak, of course, means “blame Bush, attack Republicans, and never mention the subject of the original discussion.”
And look, it worked. Not one of the gibbering monkeys who kiss his ass are willing to discuss the facts of the whole Jones case, or Jones himself. Instead, you’re all busy blathering about rhetorical political warfare and stroking each other over how righteous each of you are.
Yeah, Jaim, in that other thread I discussed scrota. The title referred to “teabagging,” so I spelled out what you were all sniggering about.
But no one wants to discuss Jones. Oh, you’ll talk about how he was “smeared,” but no one wants to talk about what a great loss this Marxist radical quitter who will, no doubt, go on to write a book and hit the lecture tour to whine about the “political terrorists” who did the heinous deed of showing people what he has said and written.
And there’s Oliver, standing atop the corpses of American heroes and shouting how people had no business daring to question how the fuck this asshole got a White House job.
The reek around here is beyond intolerable.
J.
Wow, I’ve only started commenting a short time ago, and already I dislike this Jay Tea! He not only continues to be a bad guest, but a hypocrite (because he won’t answer the vets’ questions about serving)… and he’s a drama queen! I would say you have the trifecta there, Jay Tea, but I have a feeling you have a lot more flaws than that; A LOT MORE!
You probably even imagine patriotic music playing as you write those vapid sentences of yours.
The reek around here is beyond intolerable.
Intolerable? Inigo Montoya to you.
If it’s “intolerable” I suggest you stop trying to tolerate it.
Jay Tea, stfu, seriously. Jones’ “Marxist revolutionary group” worked on such controversial issues as “prevention of the demolition of housing projects, stopping the imposition of a curfew (in San Francisco); and support for Affirmative Action.” OMG, somebody stop them before all hell breaks loose!
Jones has worked in the environmental movement for 20 years. He helped write the “Green Jobs” Act, which none other than commie-pinko sympathizer G.W. Bush signed into law as part of the 2007 energy bill. Fast Company named him one of the most innovative minds of 2008, fer chrissakes. He is qualified for the job – why should the fact that he’s a communist prevent him from serving the President when called upon? WTF, are we still in the middle of the Cold War?
And why no outrage at the 36 unvetted “czars” (gods, I hate that word) appointed by Bush?
Wilfredo: JT, help me understand how your mind works; what is offensive about the photo, and why would you, a guest, resort to using profanity against the host?
Jay Tea: If you people can’t understand what is so offensive about dead American soldiers being used by a political hack to defend a political hack’s putting a Communist in high office…
Once again Jay Tea responds to a request for info and clarification with “You go figure it out for yourself.” Because he can’t figure out his own words.
JT,
By my count the three self-identified military vets in this comment thread don’t have a problem with the photo appearing here.
Your explanations of why you do ring false, like overcompensation for your own cowardice.
Come on, JT, be a man and sign up for a hitch. It will change your perspective, AND you will get to shoot a weapon that isn’t your mouth.
Just so we’re all clear here:
Pointing out the servicemen that were killed needlessly due to someone’s mindless incompetence: the bodies of dead American service members as a weapon.
It all makes sense now. The right respects our war dead far too much to ever use them as props. Or, you know, ever acknowledge them. Or admit that our little venture into Iraq was thought out, executed, and maintained by a mob of incompetent ideologues.
Geez, figure it out, libs!
“USING the bodies etc.”
Coulda sworn I had that typed in there.
Jay, you are a hypocrite, a liar, a chicken-hawk, and deep down in your heart of hearts, a miserable coward.
The right uses photos and verbal images very similar to those posted above. Every day nut radio hosts talk about the American blood spilled on foreign soil to spread freedom blah blah. JT’s moral outrage is a sham. They should never have died because they should never have even gone to fight in Iraq. We all know this, I know.
JT Said: And there’s Oliver, standing atop the corpses of American heroes and shouting how people had no business daring to question how the fuck this asshole got a White House job.
You really are a piece of work. Corpses? Please. Get a grip on reality. Oh, and you still haven’t answered my question.
And in case you were wondering (and I know you are, because you don’t seem to get it), the President of the United States got his “White House job” by being elected by the citizens of the United States. Last I read, that was how it was done. There was no coup. There was no self-appointment, and he sure as fuck didn’t get selected by the Supreme Court of the United States.
