I’m honestly curious. What is your assessment of the Bush Administration?

Buzz, if you are going to be so ungallant as to accuse your host of “serious chutzpah” and of being the opposite of “fair and balanced” then don’t get all huffy when some less than glowing assessments of your own words and character come back your way. Your post amounts to “Wah, you hurt my feelings so I’m not going to play with you — which conveniently allows me to avoid an argument that I’m going to lose.”

The typical right-wing bully you see around here is great at dishing it out but runs squealing when he gets a dose of his own medicine. You’re better than that, Buzz.

If you want to be honest, Buzz, you’ll have to admit that Oliver is neither saying nor implying anything of the sort.

Since you call me dishonest for having a different interpretation of Oliver’s comments than you do, I’m not going to waste any more time debating anything with you. Once again on this blog, I must point out that mistakes and disagreements are not lies.

In other words: “Obama is incompetent in the face of our relentless lies! He is a failure at passing legislation we would have lied about no matter what it said!”

I may admire the right wing’s ability to push its lies into the mainstream, but I stand in awe of the right wing’s ability to lie to itself.

What he really needs to do is admit to himself that he spent an immense amount of futile effort defending the worst US president in recent memory, and that ragging like a demented old women on anti-Obama minutiae is not going to change that.

Morrissey claims Geithner “blamed his tax evasion on Turbo Tax.” That’s baldly false. Geithner was directly asked if he used tax software and if so, which one. He replied and remarked that his error was NOT the fault of the software.

Perhaps Mr. Morrissey should be a bit more concerned with his own competence.

If you want to be honest, Buzz, you’ll have to admit that Oliver is neither saying nor implying anything of the sort. If you read his site regularly you’ll see plenty of things that he thinks Obama has done wrong.

What he is saying/implying is the following:

bothching school handout:fucking up the whole economy::the totality of Obama screwups:the totality of Bush screwups

And I think that’s pretty much objectively accurate. Care to argue that point?

These are people who didn’t have the slightest bit of outrage at the prospect of arbitrary detention and the use of torture…. but they complied and let lose the hatred on those who objected to in when so instructed by the right-wing hatred machine.

If right wingers don’t get outraged about these kerfluffles or have the temerity to criticize conservative incompetence, they fare condemned and in some cases fired from their jobs for their disobedience to the cause.

I have no doubt that many rank-and-file conservative screaming bloody murder are doing so because they feel that this is the best way to preserve their friendships and cultivate a good social reputation among the conservative cult.

And yet, that isn’t mentioned in the article you actually link to. What is?
- The failure to check with school districts on start dates before scheduling a national address to “schoochildren”
- Barack Obama’s appointments … His Treasury Secretary blamed Turbo-Tax for his tax evasion, but several more appointments also had tax problems.
- Remember when Obama told the nation that a $787 billion stimulus package would keep unemployment from getting above 8%?
- he passed the buck on health-care reform and wound up losing control of the health-care debate.

Granted, nothing really on the scale invading the wrong country, mis-managing Katrina or nearly causing an economic depression. But you’d look a bit more competent and convincing yourself if you actually pulled an example from the article you link to.
