Regarding that article about Massachusetts, the most striking thing is that despite all that it is NOT doing, the costs of it NOT doing enough have doubled in two years!

She goes on to say that Medicare is the model for what we need to do for universal health care coverage, but as anybody can see, the costs for Medicare goes light years beyond what we were told and it won’t be sustainable without tax increases at some point. Where in the world does everybody think the money is going to come from to cover an additional 250 million people?

I was going to say, that looking at the 5 problems with the system, it seems to say the issue is that the Massachusetts health-care system sucks because the state’s not doing enough.

A bill before Congress, the United States National Health Insurance Act, would provide more comprehensive coverage for all. The bill includes doctor, hospital, long-term, mental health, dental, and vision care, prescription drugs, and medical supplies, with no premiums, copayments, or deductibles.

We must let Congress know we want improved access to affordable healthcare for all, not more expensive private health insurance we can’t afford to use when we are sick. Massachusetts healthcare reform fails on all five Institute of Medicine criteria. Congress should not make it a model for the nation.

Why are Democratic proposals that actually help the majority of Americans the only ones that have to pay for themselves? Medicare isn’t deficit neutral either. Repeal the Bush tax cuts at the same time you pass health care and it will decrease the deficit.
