Palin Stiffs Another Fundraising Event

The fourth time is more than just happenstance.

Organizers of an Anchorage event that has been billing Sarah Palin for weeks as a star speaker were left scrambling Wednesday after learning that the former governor won’t be there for tonight’s event and claims to have never been asked.

It would be at least the fourth time in recent months that an anticipated Palin speech has fallen through after Palin and her camp disputed they had ever confirmed it. That includes the brouhaha over whether she’d speak at the annual congressional Republican fundraising dinner in Washington, D.C., this summer.

  1. Dennis says:

    Citizen Sarah.

Her haters can’t get enough of her.

  2. Leota2 says:

    Ummmmmmmm . . . . .
Give Sarah a break. It’s hard quittin’ stuff AND finding ghostwriters to kick out her incoherent and exceedingly stupid Facebook rants. And who the hell else in this country can save old people, her kid and Glenn Beck from that scary man in the WH?

    Lower 48 Barbie–(formerly Tundra Barbie)—that’s who.

  3. Dennis says:

….incoherent and exceedingly stupid Facebook rants.
    –Leota2

Ha. Citizen Sarah’s Facebook rant got Democrats to change the ObamaKennedyCare bill, Leota.

Who else has ever done that?

  4. Nimrod Gently says:

Not because of any great wit or insight she provided, but because Fox News and other right-wing outlets liked the absolute bollocks buzzword she (ie her writers) invented FOR THAT VERY PURPOSE. It’s an ouroborous of suck.

  5. Dr. Squid says:

She ignores her phone calls better than anyone. No wonder the wingnut polloi love her. Returning phone calls indicates that you might be part of a community, and that would just be too liberal.

  6. Dennis says:

Nimrod, why in the world would the adults in charge succumb to such ouroborous of suck; these incoherent and exceedingly stupid Facebook rants of Citizen Sarah Palin?

  7. Nimrod Gently says:

Because that’s what the media’s come to, that’s why.

  8. Dr. Squid says:

why in the world would the adults in charge

Events of the last month have proved that you conservatives are not adults, just whiny little children.

  9. freD says:

I rather like Sarah Palin. She’s the Britney Spears of politics! Who wasn’t entertained by that time a bald headed Britney beat on that reporters car with her umbrella? Good times. I’m looking forward to lots more quality entertainment from Sarah as well.

  10. Leota2 says:

Wow Dennis! I guess bowing to stupidity is becoming rampant. I suppose the Dems can take cues from the Repubs–the masters of bowing to stupidity. And I guess you’re okay with that? Oops–never-mind, I got that answer.

  11. PD100 says:

Ha. Citizen Sarah’s Facebook rant got Democrats to change the ObamaKennedy Care bill, Leota.

By misinterpreting the bill’s language either diliberately or out of stupidity (take your pick) and her equally ingorant contingent of muppetmouths (RE: Dennis) repeating the same trope. Mission Accomplished, nitwit.

  12. Dennis says:

I suppose the Dems can take cues from the Repubs–the masters of bowing to stupidity.

Leota, I’m just askin’, if it was so stupid, why did the Dems, the adult party, the party of Hope and Change, and ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’, change the bill?

Taking cues from a citizen is a democratic thing to do and all, but from Barbie’s Facebook? What gives?

  13. Duros62 says:

why did the Dems, the adult party, the party of Hope and Change, and ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’, change the bill?

So y’all would stop wetting yourselves, they took out the amendment to part of the already existing statute that was introduced by a Republican 4 years ago.

Next time there’s a Teri Schiavo incident, I fully expect you folks to just STFU about it and leave it to the family to decide.

  14. Wilbur says:

So, according to Dennis, telling baldfaced lies about a bill is perfectly okay as long as it produces the desired result.

Can we all just now agree that “republican ethics” is a contradiction in terms?

  15. SaveFarris says:

Not even the New York Times is buying into the line that “Death Panels” were a “baldfaced lie”.

Just keep whistling past the graveyard…

  16. Seriously, guys, stop feeding the troll.

  17. I'm a Hick says:

As Geraldine Jones said, “A lie’s as good as the truth if you can get someone to believe it.”

  18. Nimrod Gently says:

Dennis has been around long enough that we don’t have to feed him, he can live off his own body stupid.

  19. Wilbur says:

Do I need to click on Farris’ link to know that it doesn’t say what Farris claims it says? No, I don’t think I do.

I don’t need to go around dropping rocks constantly to prove to myself that gravity still works.

  20. Quaker in a Basement says:

    TFJ for Wilbur.

Here’s the lede graf from Farris’ linked story:

WASHINGTON — White House officials and Democrats in Congress say the fears of older Americans about possible rationing of health care are based on myths and falsehoods. But Medicare beneficiaries and insurance counselors say the concerns are not entirely irrational.

Who says the fears are not entirely irrational? The people who are afraid!

  21. Enlightened Liberal says:

Farris, my eyes must be failing me, where in that NY Times article does it state that the death panels have a grain of truth?

Actually, where does the article mention death panels?

    Thought so.

  22. jr says:

Sarah hates being in the same room with her base but she accepts their friend invite on facebook so they defend her in comment sections

  23. Sean D. Martin says:

SaveFarris: Not even the New York Times is buying into the line that “Death Panels” were a “baldfaced lie”.

Oh, goody. Another Farris link. You know what that means: It not only doesn’t say what he claims it does, it pretty much says exactly the opposite. First, the Times is compared to the satirical newspaper The Onion (never a good start when your point is trying to be “listen to what the Times is saying now, it proves my point”). And it goes on to conclude:

proposals to compare the effectiveness of various treatments and to counsel seniors on end-of-life care, may explain why some people think the legislation is about rationing

They think it’s rationing. Not, as Farris says, that there is rationing. But that people have been lead to think that rationing is the consequence of such reasonable and logical things as using the most effective treatment and letting people choose what medical care they want to receive. A conclusion (providing the most effective care = rationing) that is baseless on its face.

(I could go on to point out that the actual Times article (which certainly Farris never read because that would require making the effort to check out the actual source material (a whole one click away) rather than just taking as gospel what someone else tells you about it) says:

… the House version of the legislation would help older Americans with their drug costs. It would eliminate co-payments for screenings and preventive services, and it could improve the coordination of care they receive from different doctors.

but that would just belabor the point that Farris has does actually make with his links: They say exactly the opposite of what he claims.

Come on, Farris. Use the actual text of the proposed bill to show us where “death panels” or anything even remotely like them are actually created. You can’t do it, can you?

  24. Sean D. Martin says:

Wilbur: Do I need to click on Farris’ link to know that it doesn’t say what Farris claims it says? No, I don’t think I do.

    Exactly right.

Farris’s links are good for one thing only: To refute what he says.

  25. Enlightened Liberal says:

farris’s approach is quite novel- saves us the trouble of finding another source to prove him wrong- it’s right there in his own link!

  26. Duros62 says:

Seriously, guys, stop feeding the troll.

Well, since we can’t poke him with a stick, this will have to do.

    TFJ for Wilbur.

    I second.

  27. Sean D. Martin says:

Enlightened Libeal: farris’s approach is quite novel- saves us the trouble of finding another source to prove him wrong- it’s right there in his own link!

Yeah. It’s been quite a time saver.

I’ve actually found myself looking forward to a Farris link, just to see how oblivious he can be.

  28. bethany says:

She can’t exactly hide behind the “my staff miscommunicated the dates” excuse now, can she?

  30. Zython says:

Nimrod, why in the world would the adults in charge succumb to such ouroborous of suck; these incoherent and exceedingly stupid Facebook rants of Citizen Sarah Palin?

I think we can both agree that Harry Reid is a idiot. Deal?

Not even the New York Times is buying into the line that “Death Panels” were a “baldfaced lie”.

Just keep whistling past the graveyard…

    *cough*

Seriously, guys, stop feeding the troll.

But it’s so fun to watch them dance.

  32. Repack Rider says:

Her haters can’t get enough of her.

Sarah Palin is the gift that keeps on giving.

Remember how Lucille Ball made millions by screwing things up in a funny way? We laughed at her amusing incompetence, but we didn’t hate her, and we don’t hate Sarah Palin even as we laugh at her seeming inability to make and keep a lunch date.

There’s gotta be a sitcom script in her “Lucy and the football” approach to public speaking invitations. Is THIS the time she’s really going to show up?

Nah. Lucy always jerks the football away, and we always laugh even though we already knew the punch line.

  33. Jaim says:

I’m honestly going to shed a few tears if she doesn’t run in 2012. All of us can always use a good laugh.

But I fear she might be too busy reading every newspaper and magazine that exists in order to stay informed. She’s a reader, you betcha.

  34. Wilbur says:

No, I’m sorry. the answer was Joe Lieberman.
