More Fantasyland

This US News blog entry argues that Mitt Romney could find a way to the 2012 Dem nomination by running for the Kennedy seat.

Romney isn’t that popular in Massachusetts (the governor’s seat flipped from Republican right after his term). And even worse, does anyone think Dems – in Massachusetts and in the rest of the country – won’t be super energized to defend Ted Kennedy’s seat from the likes of Mitt Romney?

And then Mitt would fail. Again.

Mitt’s a buffoon, but I’ll say this about the guy — he’s easily the GOP’s best chance in 2012, but there’s no way in hell the fundies and the teabaggers are going to let him get the nomination without ample smearing and name-calling. The Mormon thing is just too much for wing-nut lizard-brains to handle, not to mention having passed health-care reform (and being proud of it).

It’s a bit far ahead in the future, but I do think he’ll get the nomination once the GOP money-bags wake up and realize what a completely unelectable whackadoodle Palin is. But by then the damage will have been done, and the former Governor of Massachussetts will be absolutely crushed by Obama in a landslide since the US economy will be back on track, post-Rececssion with decent but maybe not great employment numbers.

But running for Ted’s seat? Um, no.

Will Mitt still make “who let the dogs out” and “bling bling” references in ‘12?

Romney’s probably moved too far to the right to win a Massachusetts-only election.

Mitt Romney will be elected dog catcher in MA…over my cold dead hands.
