Chase Vs. Colt

10:11 am EST August 25th, 2009 | Sports | 14 Comments

Coach Zorn made it official that Todd Collins would be the #2 Redskins QB, with Chase Daniel and Colt Brennan fighting for the #3 spot. Going in to the new season it looked like there might be a fight for #2, but Collins has looked quite solid while the popular Colt has suffered from poor play. Right now, Daniel has to be the favorite to move on to the roster.

The offense has looked as shaky in the preseason as they did in the regular season last year, and if the team has any success, my bet is it will be on the backs of the defense. If things go right we may see a lot of 3-0, 7-0, 10-3 games. Exciting! Although a win is a win.

Colt Brennan = Poor Man’s Timmy Chang

If the offense can’t get it together, then your score predictions will be more lopsided losses. Any defense can be worn down. Fatigue makes cowards of us all.

    Go Redskins; Fuck Dallas!

    Translation: 7-9, here we come!!

I was going to say 5-11, but the Redskins really do have a pitifully easy non-conference schedule. They could go 1-5 against the NFC East and still end up 8-8.

    12-4

  5. Jay says:

Does this matter? The Skins will be looking up at the Giants all seasons anyway.

    shaky offense ≠ 12-4

The jump between 5-11 and 8-8 or 9-7 is tiny compared with the next leap to 12-4, and they’re not there yet. I suspect they’ll tease you with a 5-2 start before ending up ~8-8, maybe 9-7. The rough late season schedule bodes poorly for them..

    And they’ll lose 2 to the Giants….

What are the chances that both quarterbacks will get hurt in a game? I’d just have 2 on the roster and call up the practice squad qb if the starter gets hurt

This team will probably go somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7. Were I a Skins fan I’d be ecstatic if they won 10. They’d win 12 in the NFC West, maybe.

  11. And they’ll lose 2 to the Giants….
    Unlikely.

A team with a crappy offense and great defense can win the Super Bowl. And Jason Campbell is a better QB than Trent Dilfer.

Will it happen? Dunno. I’m clearly a homer. But it can.

“A team with a crappy offense and great defense can win the Super Bowl”

That was 2000. This is 2009
That Ravens team was great, but not against today’s balanced teams like the Pats, Colts, Steelers, SD, and maybe Ravens.

Yeah, but it’s damn rare, and the while I like Campbell more than Dilfer, comparing this defense to the 2000 Ravens is blasphemy. Damn I hated that team. They could’ve played that AFC Divisional game against the Titans 50 more times and would’ve been lucky to win it once. Al del freakin’ Greco… Despite that phenomenal defense, that Ravens team was the worst Super Bowl champion of all time.

  14. that Ravens team was the worst Super Bowl champion of all time
Still, Superbowl champions. Skins won Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks, and in the case of Doug Williams and Mark Rypien, not the kind of guys who are going to make the Hall of Fame. Still, Super Bowl Champions.

I think my Skins will surprise – to the upside – this year. We all know that if it goes the other way I’ll have a temper tantrum on the blog anyway :)
