Jerry was on the teevee last night talking about the displays. Apparently they’re 5 feet over the NFL’s prescribed minimum height (obviously set back in the day, probably before Ray Guy). Jerry insisted he’s not going to raise them, instead mandating a re-kick if a punt hits the screens. I kind of wonder how that’s going to work, long-term…

Oh, and they aren’t “scoreboards” Buzz, they are Jumbotrons. Ginormous TV screens so people up in the nosebleed seats (and smaller screens facing the endzones for people sitting there or standing outside) can see the action.

Initial word is that the screens can be raised, though I haven’t heard if they can be raised high enough to get them out of the way.

It may turn into some kind of home-field special rule thing, like the catwalks at Tropicana Field or the speakers in the Metrodome. Maybe an automatic touchback or something if you hit the screens?

Anyway, it is pretty hilarious that they spent a billion dollars and nobody asked if the big honking screens were going to be in the way on punts.

Yes, how much will Metroplex taxpayers have to shell out? I’m surprised that Arligton residents aren’t mandated to buy season tickets and wear Cowboy gear 96% of the team to cement their utter economic fealty to the organization.
