Pro-Life/Pro-Choice Evenly Split
Tweet
There is almost universal silence from the media and especially the right in light of a new Gallup poll that shows the split on abortion to be 47-46, showing the previous poll with a +9 advantage for the anti-choice position to be a serious outlier.
Futhermore, if you dig into the issue you’re likely to find that a majority of people are pro-choice with restrictions (ie. first trimester, parental consent).

A majority of Americans are for a woman’s right to choose, but a majority is also opposed to abortion. It’s an issue where the framing of the question is everything.
However, you’d also find that a majority of Americans would not want to throw women or their doctors in jail for having or performing an abortion, and yet that’s exactly the police state the fundies want. It’s worth reminding people of that.
Jaim is corret – but to refine the commentary. It all depends on how you word the question. “Pro-choice” vs “Pro-Life” as you show well engender the 47-46 – but if you ask “Do you think abortion should be legal?” (which ironically of course is the very definition of “Pro-Choice” a large majority of Americans will answer yes

I have always agreed with this statement. I don’t think you can find ANYONE who is pro-abortion. That isn’t even the issue. It’s about having the choice to decide.
