Chuck Schumer For Majority Leader

I was going to write something like this the other day but someone else already did. Schumer is progressive, aggressive, has no fear of losing his seat to a wingnut, and knows how to operate in the media.

In other words, the exact opposite of Harry Reid.

I’d love to see that happen.

  2. jr says:

Schumer’s awesome on consumer issues. With our luck Max Baucus will be the next leader

    Quantity != Quality.

When even Barack Obama jokes about your media overexposure, you might want to tone it down a hair.

  4. Mike says:

Admittedly, Schumer is insufficiently hostile to Republicans (I’d like to see him call them the traitors and cowards they all are), but he at least is willing to fight. Reid is worthless as leader.

  5. Kevin says:

My father’s family is from upstate NY and they all think Schumer is a sleazeball. What about Feingold?

  6. Jay says:

Schumer is a blithering idiot. A perfect choice to lead the Democratic Party.

  7. Old, slimey, and bitterly partisan. Sounds like a good fit.

  8. Well it certainly seems like he has the wingers seething.

  9. hallo says:

I never understood how Reid got picked as leader. I suppose it could be worse, but I seriously doubt the soggy half of my Chips O’Hoy cookie want to get up from the bottom of the glass of milk to move to D.C.

  10. KXB says:

Gotta disagree with you – Schumer is too cozy with the finance industry, and his attitude towards the Mideast is right out of the neocon playbook.

  11. David in NYC says:

    Kevin @ 10:21pm –

I’m from NYC (as you can tell from my *nom de blog*), and your father is right. KXB is absolutely right about his being in the tank for the financial “services” industry (among other things, big supporter of the capital gains exemption for hedge fund managers).

In addition, the man has an ego the size of the Empire State Building. Watch any event to which he is even tangentially connected, and not only will he be there, but he will also manage a way to hog the camera. For one example, take a look at the footage of Hillary releasing the NY delegates to vote for Obama at the convention. One might assume that this moment belonged to Hillary, but Chuckles managed to get himself in the front of the camera to the exclusion of just about everyone else.
