frankensteinThe GOP Beast strikes.

Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) will not be hosting any town hall events this August — instead, he’s making himself available to constituents for one-on-one meetings about health care reform — and at least part of the reason is this: His offices have received threatening phone calls, including at least one direct threat against his life.

‘We had no town hall events scheduled for the August recess anyway, but in light of everything that’s happened — we have received a threatening phone call in the D.C. office, there have been calls to the Raleigh office,’ said Miller communications director LuAnn Canipe, in an interview with TPM. The threatening call in question happened earlier this week.

Gee, what a surprise. These wingnuts are getting out of hand with their anger and violence. I knew it would come to this sooner or later. Happy now, assholes? He had to cancel the entire meeting.

The dickhead who killed those women in the dance class in Pittsburgh the other day? Another typical angry uptight right wing nut job, posting all his garbage online about what a failure he is because he couldn’t even get a date. There’s your audience, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.

  2. Quaker in a Basement says:

This is just another example of Democrats being crybabies, right Jay?

  3. FreeDem says:

It would seem like there would be a mid point between the extreme vetting that only Psychophants can attend meetings as Republicans always do and at least keeping out the Rent-a-Mobs.

  4. ignobility says:

That’s horrible. Miller was my rep when I lived in Eden, NC, and he was sensational. He would meet w/people in the smallest towns imaginable, like 500 people. His office always responded to emails, letters, etc., and he always voted very progressively. So it looks like the rethugs are accomplishing what they’ve been ordered to do, which is to stop the dissemination of information about the health care proposals.

  5. Suicida| says:

    Burn,

LOL WUT? George Sodini looks like one of your boys, pro Obama – hates right-wingers. ding, ding I think we have a winrar.

  6. Burn says:

Yes, sure, this sounds like a left wing guy to me. Taken straight from his website.

Amerika has chosen The Black Man. Good! In light of this I got ideas outside of Obama’s plans for the economy and such. Here it is: Every black man should get a young white girl hoe to hone up on. Kinda a reverse indentured servitude thing. Long ago, many a older white male landowner had a young Negro wench girl for his desires. Bout’ time tables are turned on that shit. Besides, dem young white hoez dig da bruthrs! LOL. More so than they dig the white dudes!

Every daddy know when he sends his little girl to college, she be bangin a bruthr real good. I saw it. “Not my little girl”, daddy says! (Yeah right!!) Black dudes have thier choice of best white hoez. You do the math, there are enough young white so all the brothers can each have one for 3 or 6 months or so.

Sounds like a typical tree hugging Volvo driving open minded, liberal to me.

  7. Suicida| says:

    How about:

“The worst people by far are religious types. Especially a right-wing, dtiff faced fundy like andy.”

See sounds just like you guys, only he doesn’t say wingnuts.

I didn’t see any reference to Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity on his blog at all, how could that be?

  8. Having been invited to a prep meeting for one of these disturbances by a co-worker, I was shocked by how openly racist some atendees where against Obama, Holder, and even RNC Chair Steel. The “N” word was flying fast and furious.

  9. abanterer says:

Re: the re-routing of the RNC to the DNC.

If I were a voter that got mad enough to complain about the disruption of public venues by know-nothing rentamobs to the RNC, and they pulled a trick like this, I’d be twice as pissed. Pissed enough to join the DNC, if I hadn’t already. Pissed enough to give money, if I hadn’t already. Pissed enough to never take a Republican’s word at face value. Congratulations, GOP – you just polarized the nation a little more.

Of course they’ll pat themselves on the back and high-five each other. It’s all about spite, spite and money to the RNC.

  10. abanterer says:

And of course, they could care less is people get attacked at these events, not when they’ll just write it off as ‘a sign of their disapproval’, or ‘just a whack job’ if it gets too unseemly. Not that the usual well-heeled Bastards In Suits aren’t funding the whole scheme, sticking people on a bus with a hand full of talking points after putting fear into their heads. I’m sure the RNC will hold a ceremonial circle jerk if a Dem congressman gets beaten up at one of these meetings.

Ah, I’m pissed. These are supposed to be where people air out their differences, not ratchet it up to a frenzied mob. It’s the same band of narcissists tossing the ideals of the Enlightenment under the bus so they can make another sawbuck, again and again. Those are the bastards who should be frog marched into a court room; these mobs are just riled wind up toys to them.

  11. Luv says:

Typical right-wing losers “LOOK OVER THERE!!”

  12. jr says:

    This is who they are

  13. canadian bacon says:

Does anybody know who the PR firm is that’s “organizing” the mob? Whose waging the dog?

  14. abanterer says:

I think it depends on the region – Frank Strategies is apparently behind some, but probably not all.

  15. SpiderJ says:

When are we going to call this what it is?

    This is terrorism.

This is a threat or a series of threats designed to elicit exactly this sort of response from people like Miller. Good job, say the Teabagger Mobs, we got Miller to shut up about these things we don’t want him to say. We am Good Americans.

  16. abanterer says:

And it turns out that a lot of astroturfing is being done by Bonner Associates. TPM has something on them.

  17. Dennis says:

Ahh, memories for the days of old. Protests just ain’t what they used to be, no sirree.

Just so many ……..mobsters, now. Swastika-carrying, well-dressed corporate lackeys.

    How shameful.

Those were the days, my friends.
    We thought they’d never end.
We’d sing and dance forever and a day
We’d live the life we choose
    We’d fight and never lose
    Those were the days
Oh, yes, those were the days

  18. Dennis says:

Nancy Pelosi’s district shows how it’s done.

  19. tim says:

My goodness Dennis, once again you’ve nailed it! Holding signs that say stuff is exactly the same as directly threatening someone’s life! Damn you’re good.

  20. Pryme says:

At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell? At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator’s house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?

    Erik Erikson from RedState

Looks like he’s getting his wish.

  21. Suicida| says:

Geezus Dennis, way to put their bullshiat back in their face.

I just love how it must be orchestrated, it couldn’t at all be because people don’t like the proposed solution.

    Medicare – Failure
    Medicaid – Failure
    VA – Failure
    C4C – Failure
    Stimulus – Failure

Government is just too slow and inefficient to manage anything large and dynamic. The only thing the do almost well is the military and they do it at 10x the cost it should take.

  22. Dennis says:

My goodness Dennis, once again you’ve nailed it! Holding signs that say stuff is exactly the same as directly threatening someone’s life! Damn you’re good.

You act as if no Republicans ever get death threats, tim.

  23. Dennis says:

    tim-

The ‘Department of False Equivalency’ thread is a few down from this one if you want to go there and register a complaint.

  24. PD100 says:

“Looks like he’s getting his wish.”

Only if other people do the fighting. Much like the Iraq war.

  25. Rheinhard says:

Hey Suicidal – why doesn’t your party put your money where your mouth is? If medicare & medicaid is a failure, as you claim, why don’t the honest upstanding small government conservatives in your party run on a platform of abolishing them. I look forward to all the Republican ads in the 2010 election cycle, “I’m Sam Hoosafus, Republican running for Congress. If you hate government run health care then vote for me and I will work night and day to completely eliminate Medicare & Medicaid, and Social Security! I will take away all big-government largesse for all those lazy good for nothing senior citizen Social Security Queens sucking down your tax dollars and contributing nothing to the economy. You work hard, why shouldn’t they? Remember in November, vote Hoosfus!”

I think this could be a winning platform for y’all.

  26. SaveFarris says:

I imagine this’ll turn to be as fake as all the other attempts to paint Bipartisan resistance to Obamacare as manufactured hate.

  27. Wow, Republicans sure do love their lynchings. I’m sure the usual suspects will be JUST as outraged at this one…. yep… any moment now…

  28. PD100 says:

    Great article Farris. From it you can see that;
-Wingnuts still come cheap (from their PAC income)
-Still can’t grasp modern technology (with a total of 28 online members)
-And are still rudderless morans: (“”never pulled a lever” for a Republican or Democrat on a federal level” -but describes himself as an “opponent of leftist thinking in America,”)

No need to manafacture any hate for them. It’ll come naturally.

  29. Duros62 says:

    Medicare – Failure
    Medicaid – Failure
    VA – Failure
    C4C – Failure
    Stimulus – Failure

    Wow, seriously?
Medicare and Medicaid and the VA are failures?
I’d bet people in your own family would disagree.

  30. Duros62 says:

why don’t the honest upstanding small government conservatives in your party run on a platform of abolishing them.

Better yet, all the folks who show up to these flashmobs who are on Medicare or Medicaid should rip up their cards. Fucking socialists.

That’s what gets me about this whole thing. All these WATB’s who go to these things already have their government funded insurance; they just don’t want anyone else to have it.

  31. Medicare – Failure
    Medicaid – Failure
    VA – Failure
    C4C – Failure
    Stimulus – Failure

I love wingers who think they’re Tinkerbell. If you just BELIEVE what you say, it’s true.

  32. Gorgon says:

Waah wah wah. Bitch cry and moan all you want. We’re going to steamroll you mother fuckers. And if a revolt is in order, so be it.

Whaddaya gonna do? Make a post about it, you fat fucking whiney black race-hustling piece of shit?

  33. durablend says:

LALALALA–today’s Repubican party, folks. Gotta love that classiness!

  34. SaveFarris says:

    And are still rudderless morans

Misspelling a word while trying to call someone stupid? EPIC FAIL!!!

  35. Parthenon says:

Where did these new trolls come from? And can we send them back?

  36. Parthenon says:

Misspelling a word while trying to call someone stupid? EPIC FAIL!!!

Farris, please tell me you saw the reference to the ‘get a brain, morans’ pic and I just didn’t get your joke.

  37. Parthenon says:

Seriously, did a freeper link to OW.com?

  38. Parthenon says:

And anybody still angry about that ‘right-wing extremist’ DHS report?

  39. durablend says:

Seriously, did a freeper link to OW.com?

    It’s Malkin’s doing

  40. PD100 says:

And if a revolt is in order, so be it.

Yes, please make asses of yourself at civil forums, stamp your feet, shake your tiny fists in the air and dump teabags in DC public relations offices. We’ll just keep laughing.

  41. Southern Quaker says:

I vote to ban Gorgon. All in favor say, “aye.”

  42. abanterer says:

What sort of revolt can I expect? More sign waving? Nasty t-shirts? Yelling, stomping, pounding on stuff that’s not yours? Intimidating the public? Maybe you’ll get REALLY butch, and wear a pistol in the waistband of your pants. Kind of like today, only this time you’ll really mean it.

Whatever, Internet Tough Guy. Chuck Norris has nothin on you.

  43. Parthenon says:

    With you, SQ. ‘Aye’

  44. canadian bacon says:

“Waah wah wah. Bitch cry and moan all you want. We’re going to steamroll you mother fuckers. And if a revolt is in order, so be it.”

You’ll be the first to run under mommy’s skirt. Is that a skunk I smell?

  45. canadian bacon says:

“Whaddaya gonna do? Make a post about it, you fat fucking whiney black race-hustling piece of shit?”

    The base has spoken.

  46. canadian bacon says:

Hey abanterer, thanks for those leads. I’ll check them out.

  47. daniel rotter says:

“We’re going to steamroll you mother fuckers.”

So you’re threatening the lives of people who fuck their mothers? Now that is just uncalled for.

  48. canadian bacon says:

“So you’re threatening the lives of people who fuck their mothers?

He’d have to kill himself first.

  49. Jaim says:

Nah, you don’t ban bigots like Gorgon. You leave their comments up for all to see, a testament to the heart of the modern-day KKK GOP.

  50. canadian bacon says:

    Frank Strategies –

“In other words, we translate complex issues into easy-to-understand, emotion-based communications that “people will feel in their gut”. And then we help you deliver that clear message to voters, reporters and elected officials.”

Translating complex issues into mob formations and threatening public servants and civil discourse.

  51. Jay Tea says:

Sigh… Gorgon, you certainly earned your sobriquet.

For what it’s worth, I say don’t ban him. My knee-jerk reaction is to not ban whenever possible.

But I wouldn’t complain, criticize, or miss him in the least if you did, Oliver.

There’s absolutely no reason for him to be that much of an asshole on YOUR blog, and no excuse.
