I’ll just wait right here. I’m sure someone will be along shortly to tell us this is a sign of the Obama administration’s weakness on foreign policy.

  2. Duros62 says:

Did we pick the wrong person for SecState?

    Bubba gets shit DONE.

  3. Duros62 says:

Quaker, clearly this is good news for John McCain.

  4. SaveFarris says:

Good news for the journalists and their families … though I’d love to know what we gave up in order to make it happen, not to mention the precedent we just set.

  5. Sam Simple says:

I hope Bill didn’t “blow it” over in Korea. I sure hope he didn’t get sucked into a sticky situation. The Koreans probably took a long, hard look at the weapon Clinton had in his pocket and decided to shy away.

Now what would make you think we “gave something up?” And what precedent is that? That diplomacy and conversation works at least as well as cruise missiles and for a lot less $$$?

    “bomb them”-John Bolton to Greta

    Meanwhile, In Chappaqua,
“Hmmm. Two hot Asian chicks in prison? To the rescue!!!

  9. Burn says:

Wow, NOBODY ever made a Clinton dick joke before.

  10. some guy says:

Just an observation. If you look at a photo taken upon Clinton’s visit, there doesn’t seem to be an accord between both of their moods. Not sure when exactly the photo was taken but Kim Jong Il seems gleeful as a kid in a huge candy store after having been bought the whole store. He looks strangely joyful. I wonder if he forgot that he is full of contempt toward the worldwide community that have attempted to keep him accountable on nuclear arms.

  11. Duros62 says:

Of course you have a link, right, guy?

Why don’t you just stop? You and farris and John “The Walrus” Bolton, just stop.

  12. fafaroo says:

“… though I’d love to know what we gave up in order to make it happen …”

We swapped them for you, Save. Better start packing.

  13. Duros62 says:

Comment stolen from Sadly, No! And yet sums it up nicely. To wit:

Thing is, Big dawg has no official standing, so he has no appease to give. He showed up, gave Kim Jong a lttle respect, made one weasel-word apology, and BANGO! saved two lives.

Already accomplished more than all the Bush family together, and all it took was a few words that in the final accounting, didn’t COST AMERICAN ANYTHING.

But, of course, it was done by the CLENIS, so it was bad. And I fully support all the wingnuts telling that to the families of the reporters who are now free, in person, and while the families are holding large blunt objects.

I’m curious what the result would have been had Dubya gone instead.

  15. Rheinhard says:

Duros: I think this comment from Atrios is equally good and a bit more succint…

When John Bolton saw Bill Clinton go to North Korea, his penis got a little bit smaller. And that’s really what it’s about.

    George would have been bombed.

Obama could really learn something from Clinton here. Clinton did was he was sent there to do, and he did not smile, or look interested. He had the right attitude….Don’t give them more fodder to use for propoganda purposes.

  21. Porlock Junior says:

This is EVIL! The bastard!! This is almost as bad as when we were set to send in the troops to push out the current murderous dictators of Haiti who had become just too inconvenient to tolerate any longer, and that shithead Carter went there and talked them into bugging out under their own power. Without a war!!!

Some of the troops were quite disappointed, too, and I am sorry to say I am making none of this up.

  22. daniel rotter says:

Bolton is such a jackass. He gives no evidence that former-President Bill Clinton “rewarded” the North Koreans with anything.

    The other shoe.

  24. canadian bacon says:

    diplomatic success = failure

    failed war = victory

Quite the little conundrum they got there.

  25. matt621 says:

And today… Iran says they are going to try 3 American captives for espionage.

Well, the price for two has been set. What will Obama trade away this time? Big Bill just ain’t gonna do it, I think. Will Barry have to fly over there and bow to the mullahs?

Maybe they’ll settle for Slow Joe the Racist.

And aren’t incentives amazing to behold?

I can’t think of a better recent example of “You get more of the behavior you reward, and less of the behavior you punish.”

    Heckuva job, Barry.

  26. Sean D. Martin says:

matt621: What will Obama trade away this time?

First you gotta tell us what he traded away this time.

    We’re waiting.

Duros: I think this comment from Atrios is equally good and a bit more succint…

HA! Love that. His penis gets smaller while his moustache gets larger!

for the Koreans, I think, it’s all about saving face. They just wanted someone important to come and say “sorry these punk ass kids got across the border.’ That’s it. Free to go.

Look dude, your country is the strongest on the planet. Little dumb ass dictators shouldn’t worry you one bit. A bow, and handshake; who cares. Is your ego so fragile? I don’t get it. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Two people are alive because of a little diplomacy. Where’s the harm? What would’ve be your ideal scenario? Escalation?

  29. Duros62 says:

    Is your ego so fragile?

    Short answer? Yes.

What would’ve be your ideal scenario?

A wicked super kick-ass HALO/SEAL team extraction, ninja-style! All night-vision goggles and shit!

    Durh.
