Try as he may, National Treasure Stephen Colbert cannot out wingnut the wingnuts.

I wonder why there’s no right wing equivalent of Colbert. Hmm.

  2. Continuing my theory that the worst thing for the birthers is having ORLY? on television as much as possible.

  3. jr says:

One would think. But it’s really hard to say. Hopefully she’ll continue to appear on the worst of the worst “news” channels (and wildly funny parody “news” programs) to provide some “balance” for this complex issue. I just like the funny.

  5. mambochicken23 says:

    Ow! My brain!

  6. Burn says:

I wonder why there’s no right wing equivalent of Colbert. Hmm.

Remember Fox News lame attempt at rivaling the Daily Show? It was called the 1/2 hour news hour and it was so lame.

  7. rat_bastard says:

I think whats holding Orly back is her complete inability to exaggerate or use obscene amounts of hyperbole.

  8. El Cid says:

“Another Stalin.” I love it. Please, more, and more TV exposure of crazy eyes Orly Taitz and crazy eyes anchor baby Michelle Malkin.

  9. Duros62 says:

I wonder why there’s no right wing equivalent of Colbert. Hmm.

You mean it’s NOT Glenn Beck?

BTW, Oily, where’s your birth certificate? Are you an American citizen? And if not, why the fuck do you care who is President?
Oh, and can I see your green card?

Lawyer, Dentist, Real Estate agent, 2nd degree black belt in Tai Kwan Do, Constitutional non-expert.

  10. Duros62 says:

Stalin AND Hitler. A twofer of st00pid.

  11. Wilbur says:

Thing is, she was having fun up there with Colbert. She knows it’s all bullshit, but she’s enjoying the ride, raking in the bucks, and incidentally dragging the republican mouth breathers even further down the poop chute to total irrelevance.

    You go, girl!

  12. wiz says:

I had this posted under the ‘Obama born in Hawaii thread’ before this thread started, sorry to duplicate, but seems to fit better here………

Sorry, I have to admit I’m not up on all the fringe celebs out there, case in point, I JUST heard of/saw for the first time, this lady Orly Taitz, on Colbert Report.
All I can say is: WHAT THE FUCK, HUH? WHAT?…!!?!??!!

My face during the interview—> :-O

I also had the weird thought after the way her persona(and perspective) startled me….like what if there was a world where Borat (or that character Andy Kaufmann used to do) were real?
I know, I’m rambling, but damn, listening to her really threw me….

p.s., ditto what Wilbur said. She’s ‘krazee’ all the way to the bank…

  13. Duros62 says:

    You go, girl!

What? You mean another Republic attention whore at work?

  14. Duros62 says:

My face during the interview—> :-O

Yeah, mine too. Did she just take it up a notch and accuse the President of Social Security fraud by saying he has a fake SS card? How the hell did she get his SSN?

  15. Duros62 says:

Are we sure she ISN’T Sascha Baron Cohen?

  16. Sean D. Martin says:

Duros: Yeah, mine too. Did she just take it up a notch and accuse the President of Social Security fraud by saying he has a fake SS card?

Yeah, what was that? “The number he has most frequently used” ???

  17. Syco says:

    @ Duros62

correct me if im wrong but wouldn’t that make her a criminal for even knowing such information?

  18. Duros62 says:

IDK, Syco. It does raise some questions, though, no?

  19. wiz says:

And that Army major hired her to represent him at his court martial proceedings???
‘Uhhh, excuse me, yes, I’d like one first-class ticket on the Leavenworth Express…..’

  20. Duros62 says:

Did that clip seem pretty heavily edited to anyone else? And it seems the audience wasn’t there.

It’s obviously a fake. The shadows are all wrong.

  21. Duros62 says:

Oh, she’s a travel agent also? Is there anything she can’t do? Besides read the fucking constitution, I mean?

  22. Chris says:

    @Duros62
The audience was there, you could hear them laughing at her when watching on Comedy Central… This lady is beyond crazy.

  23. Matt says:

It seems obvious from the soundtrack (the laughter was much softer, and neither she nor Colbert stopped to let laughs finish) as well as the pacing and the rough transition to the actual interview, that it was pre-taped — she wasn’t there in front of the live studio audience.

I wonder if she refused to go on in front of people who wouldn’t at least pretend to defer to her.

  24. Chris says:

After taking another look, you may be right. I didn’t realize how quick that transition was when I was watching last night. (Probably because I was laughing so hard at SC’s comments just before the interview itself).

  25. Duros62 says:

I wonder if she refused to go on in front of people who wouldn’t at least pretend to defer to her.

That would be my guess. She couldn’t take live people confronting her.

  26. Jay says:

This is pretty hilarious. You know, the whole birth certificate thing was pretty much unknown until the left started yelping, “The birthers! The birthers!” The left gave it publicity. And whether the publicity is good or bad, it’s still publicity.

Had they just kept their mouths shut and not whine about it on newscasts, blogs and everywhere else it wouldn’t have gone anywhere.

Now that they’ve been instrumental in bringing this stupid non-issue to the forefront they then want to attempt to make the people who believe that crap part of mainstream conservatism when it clearly is not.

  27. chow shark says:

If I called this woman crazy-eyed or scary-eyed or expressed how frightened I was by looking into her eyes, will I be called a ‘racist’?

  28. chow shark says:

“Had they just kept their mouths shut and not whine about it on newscasts, blogs and everywhere else it wouldn’t have gone anywhere.”

I have another theory. Had they just kept their mouths shut and not whine about it, these extreme right neo-cons would have STILL been given a voice on Sean Hantitty and Lou Dobbs. Forevermore, you know the birthers would’ve cried “Librul Meedeea Bias” had no one else given them the light also.

  29. Burn says:

Now that they’ve been instrumental in bringing this stupid non-issue to the forefront they then want to attempt to make the people who believe that crap part of mainstream conservatism when it clearly is not.

Then where the hell are all the ‘responsible mainstream’ conservative leaders coming out to denounce this bullshit story then? Where are they? And I am not talking about pundits or talking heads or radio hosts. Huck? Romney? Jindal? Crist? Pawlenty? Anyone, hello???

If conservatives want to rebrand themselves to regain the trust of the average voter, then someone in a position of prominence needs to come out and declare that the birthers are full of shit.

But they won’t do it, because they don’t have the balls, or they like the controversy, or they are worried about alienating their base of ignorant dittohead losers. You saw what happened at that infamous town hall by that one DE congressman. They booed him loudly when he said Obama is a US citizen. Think about that…he offered a sane, reasonable response, and they flipped the fuck out because it wasn’t the emotionally comforting answer they wanted to hear. That’s the GOP base for ya!

The longer this story stays out there, and the longer someone doesn’t come to squash it works against the GOP in the long run.

  30. This is pretty hilarious. You know, the whole birth certificate thing was pretty much unknown until the left started yelping, “The birthers! The birthers!” The left gave it publicity. And whether the publicity is good or bad, it’s still publicity.

Yes, like that renowned leftist television host Lou Dobbs and prominent liberal kook Rush Limbaugh who you probably never heard of because of his small local show only available in oh Jesus goddamn Christ I can’t even do this you are so fucking stupid it’s unbelievable.

  31. Duros62 says:

The left gave it publicity. And whether the publicity is good or bad, it’s still publicity.

Gee, and all this time I thought it was the Tea Baggers.

  32. Duros62 says:

The longer this story stays out there, and the longer someone doesn’t come to squash it works against the GOP in the long run.

I would agree with that if it didn’t put so many people at risk, including the President. It just takes one birther toolbox with a van full of diesel and ammonium nitrate to hit a federal building. I hope I’m wrong, but this is the kind of crazy that inspires suicide bombers, and we may finally see a domestic one in the next 6 years.

  33. Scott Ricketts says:

This woman is a loon. She needs medication. I took drugs when I was a youngster and I never thought of anything even remotely as insane as the crap she is spewing.

  34. Indeed says:

This is pretty hilarious. You know, the whole birth certificate thing was pretty much unknown until the left started yelping, “The birthers! The birthers!” The left gave it publicity. And whether the publicity is good or bad, it’s still publicity.

You’ve seen the FDL videos, right? Right?

  35. Jay says:

August, you bore me. Your entire shtick is made up of you drooling, “Your sure are stupid __________!” Go draw one of your unfunny comics you frigging child. But because you’re a drooling idiot, it should be pointed out to you that Limbaugh made a total of two references to the birth certificate issue. One was a total joke and another was a tongue in cheek reference to it. Oh and the ultra far right wing maniacal source for this? Those right wing nuts over at Media Matters who are claiming the only reason Limbaugh isn’t talking about is because of the beating Dobbs took over it. So do me a favor and go back to your nursing time with Mommy kid and leave the sharp things alone before you hurt yourself.

Oh here we go. One of the lamest things ever. The “If you don’t denounce it you support” idiocy. I guess then President Obama supported the notion that Trig Palin was actually not Sarah’s son because I never heard him denounce it and therefore he supported the spreading of that rumor. Try again Burn. That nonsense doesn’t cut it.

Prominent conservative writers, pundits and others (aside from the elected officials) HAVE denounced it including: Joe Scarborough, Michelle Malkin, David Horowitz, Michael Medved, John Avlon, everybody over at Hot Air, the editors of National Review, the Weekly Standard, and Michael Steele.

Of course, if you believe August The Cartoon Child Pollack, Lou Dobbs is the biggest conservative on the planet and reaches an audience of tens of millions.

The longer this story stays out there, and the longer someone doesn’t come to squash it works against the GOP in the long run.

Exactly! And who benefits from it being out there? And if those people benefit from it staying in the news as much as possible, why would they want to see the issue go away?

  36. Of course, if you believe August The Cartoon Child Pollack, Lou Dobbs is the biggest conservative on the planet and reaches an audience of tens of millions.

Ah, it only counts if you reach millions of viewers, 800 thousand is meaningless- unless you’re Rush Limbaugh who does reach tens of millions, but he doesn’t count because he only said it a few times, which doesn’t make you a liar at all saying the left was promoting this.

You throw a lot of tantrums for someone who likes to call other people children.

I guess then President Obama supported the notion that Trig Palin was actually not Sarah’s son because I never heard him denounce it and therefore he supported the spreading of that rumor.

I’m sorry for just assuming you’re stupid. You’re either stupid or really fucking lazy. Which do you prefer?

  37. You know, the whole birth certificate thing was pretty much unknown until the left started yelping, “The birthers! The birthers!”
Our mind control techniques at work again. First we made congressional Republicans sign on to the birther bill, and then we got Lou Dobbs to start pushing the issue. Mind control is awesome.

  38. Sean D. Martin says:

Syco: correct me if im wrong but wouldn’t that make her a criminal for even knowing such information?

I don’t know, but I’d be surprised. Given the number of times people get asked for their Social Security numbers (just about every form you fill out for nearly any purpose, it seems) there are a LOT of folks who would have it. Even if there was a law against folks who have it for non-legitimate purposes, there would be a lot of difficulty determine which folks that applied to.

  39. Marc says:

Yeah, it was definitely pre-taped like his field interviews, but in the studio. I would guess she had some concerns about a live audience

  40. Duros62 says:

The “If you don’t denounce it you support” idiocy.

It worked so well for your team.

Oh, that’s right, you’re not a Republic. I keep forgetting.

  41. Jeff says:

Did she say Barack has a Soc Sec number that says he’s 190 years old? Didn’t we start issuing SSN’s in the 1930’s, just 70 years ago? How many 120 year old’s were given SSN’s in the New Deal?

  42. Indeed says:

    From over at Balloon Juice:

Commenter Eric K summarizes the birther issue perfectly:

“50 years ago you shouted nigger, 30 years ago you talked about States Rights, now you ask to see the president’s birth certificate.”

  43. xKat says:

Re: SSNs – Orly claims to have research from internet databases that show hundreds of SSNs associated with Barack and Michelle’s names and multiple addresses and jobs associated with such SSNs. For a while she claimed this was proof that they were fraudulently holding no-show jobs that aren’t being reported for tax purposes. She claims one SSN that is used most often by Barack (based on these databases) was issued to someone born in Connecticut and who would be 119 today. Supposedly Barack’s grandmother volunteered at the Probate Court in HI and “stole” these numbers from dead people.

RE: the taped interview – from what she posted about her interview last week it was scheduled by Colbert’s people to be pre-taped yesterday at 2 PM. From her performances on TV and in interviews I would think Colbert expected her to be out of control and probably better to pre-tape and edit then have her out of control and have to cut her off. Orly claimed in a posting before the show that they taped for over an hour.

  44. Quaker in a Basement says:

Jay, in 5 words: “Baw! No fair fighting back!”

  45. PC812 says:

“Now that they’ve been instrumental in bringing this stupid non-issue to the forefront they then want to attempt to make the people who believe that crap part of mainstream conservatism when it clearly is not.”

Tell that to your Republican representatives in Congress who have refused to discredit the birthers as a bunch of fringe lunatics. Instead, they just dance around the issue by saying bullshit like, “well there are still questions to be answered…” or “I have no reason to believe he’s not a citizen, but…”

The difference between your example of Obama not denying the Trig Palin rumors is that Obama was not specifically asked about them. YOUR Republican representatives, the people who are the image of mainstream conservatism, have been asked about this, point blank. And they have completely REFUSED to denounce the claims as lunacy. Even far-right nutjobs like Bill O’Reilly, Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin have denounced the birthers, so why can’t the “mainstream” conservatives?

  46. Colorado Dave says:

I watched that clip and watched it again.

I’m not so sure she understands that Colbert is doing a shtick and that he is making fun of her.

    I think she buys it.

    Wow!

    That’s really scary.

  47. Jaim says:

It’s funny how Jay Tea throws a fit every time we simply point out how loony the GOP has become.

“B–b–but, that’s the part of the party that nobody pays attention to!” This spoken by a guy who knows that a drug addicted racist like Limbaugh is the de facto party leader.

Keep it up, Jay Tea. You’re doing wonders for your hopes in 2012.

That said, it’s strange that the crazy Russian woman keeps harping on the citizenship of Obama’s father. Because if this was actually what the Constitution said, we’d also have to invalidate George Washington (United States didn’t even exist yet, so citizenship for his parents would have been impossible).

  48. hf says:

@Jaim: Yeah, that seems inexplicable unless you assume a racist message. Any self-professed lawyer must know about the 14th Amendment, right? Right?

  49. Duros62 says:

Did she say Barack has a Soc Sec number that says he’s 190 years old? Didn’t we start issuing SSN’s in the 1930’s, just 70 years ago? How many 120 year old’s were given SSN’s in the New Deal?

Don’t bother her with your liberal “facts.” She’s rolling..

Any self-professed lawyer must know about the 14th Amendment, right? Right?

    One would think.

And again, Orly, can we see your birth certificate? Green card? How can we be sure SHE isn’t an illegal?

  50. Brett says:

Well, all I can say is if both your parents have to be natural born citizens for you to be one as well, as opposed to, oh I don’t know, being born on US soil, then I guess that resolves any issues with immigrant children born here. Or maybe she’s just upset Arnold can never be president. Or maybe she’s just the world’s most incompetent lawyer.

  51. Paul says:

To all the birthers in La, La Land, it is on you to prove to all of us that your assertion is true, if there are people who were there and support your position then show us the video (everyone has a price), either put up or frankly shut-up. I heard Orly Taitz, is selling a tape (I think it’s called “Money, Lies and Video tape”). She is from Orange County, CA, now I know what the mean when they say “behind the Orange Curtain”, when they talk about Orange County, the captial of Conspiracy Theories. You know Obama has a passport, he travel abroad before he was a Senator, but I guess he fooled them too?

  52. Ron The Marine says:

Trying to humiliate her, this is Saul Alinsky’s Tactic of Escalation, Freeze, Isolate and Humiliate anyone who is not ashamed to speak up and disagree. Type “Little Red Book Tactic” into Google. Then type “NAKED COMMUNIST EXCERPTS.” Learn what our modern college professors adopted as a teaching tool. People must be shamed and ridiculed constantly when they dare to disagree. Obama is posing as a 119 year old man from Connecticut. Personal ridicule won’t change that fact – but keep trying.

  53. Fred says:

“Obama is posing as a 119 year old man from Connecticut. Personal ridicule won’t change that fact”

What fact? the fact that you are a Timothy McVeigh wannabe?

  54. Wow, she was having so much fun she didn’t even notice that Colbert was roasting her alive.

  55. daniel rotter says:

“Obama is posing as a 119 year old man from Connecticut.”

Good God, the Marine Corps doesn’t have mental health checkups on its members?

  56. GUY says:

EDITOR: PLEASE USE THIS REVISED VERSION OF MY POST. THANK YOU.

RE: Jaim July 30, 2009 at 12:35 am ‘That said, it’s strange that the crazy Russian woman keeps harping on the citizenship of Obama’s father. Because if this was actually what the Constitution said, we’d also have to invalidate George Washington (United States didn’t even exist yet, so citizenship for his parents would have been impossible).’

    . . .

FYI: US CONSTITUTION: ‘No Person except a natural born Citizen, ***or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution,*** shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.’

    . . .

So… The men that formed the US Constitution, the Founding Fathers- and, for that matter, in general, virtually any group of people who form/found a nation- are, of course, essentially the 1st citizens of the nation. Thereafter, the requirement for official national citizenship goes for people born after the formation/founding of the nation to be born in said nation. So, of course, the 1st generation always gets in on official citizenship; as for the parents, it’s a matter of being a resident in the US committed to the US as a 1st generation US citizen.

  57. Michael says:

This is the first time I have ever posted at a liberal blog. I’m a bit discouraged by the amount of hatred towards anyone with a conservative leaning. I, and many of my friends, do not consider every liberal or democrat a bumbling idiot who deserves to be put down at every turn. Why is there so much anger towards people you may not see eye to eye with? I will say though that this woman is a complete moron, and to think that Obama was born outside the U.S. is just beyond dumb.

  58. Paul says:

Right Ron, you are a Marine, sell it somewhere else. Next thing you’ll say is you have a college degree. Dream on…..

  59. Duros62 says:

Or maybe she’s just the world’s most incompetent lawyer.

I know I wouldn’t let her work on my teeth, that’s for damn sure.

I’m a bit discouraged by the amount of hatred towards anyone with a conservative leaning.

I am sorry you feel that way, but on the other hand, just how much civility do liberals get on conservative sites? When they’re not de facto banned, I mean?
Go ahead, make a “liberal” comment on Hot Air or Ace of Spades and see how you get treated.
