He knew the fact he needed to know- a man was arrested for (supposedly) raising his voice in his own house. And, that “he’s suoopsed to be postracial” remark is telling.

You state “Go on believing” as though the subsequent clause weren’t true. Here, it is shown that you believe that they CAN do this. This invalidates point b, and by extension, point c.

As for point a, I can’t help but read it as approval of these practices, by virtue of your dismissive tone to those that criticized them.

There is absolutely no reason in the world to equate health care reform with slavery reparations. None. Zero.

And yet Beck made that assertion quite plainly. Why?

Can you explain that line of reasoning?

What he is asking for is a guilty statement that can then be used against you. Do not answer that question, or any other except to give your name.

I cited my Fifth Amendment rights to a California Highway Patrol officer under those circumstances, and he wrote me up. Then I took him to court, and he told the judge that I “took the Fifth” when I was asked if I had been in violation. The judge smiled at me when he said that, and he looked as though he would have high-fived me if he could. I won the case, in part because the officer tried to use my citation of rights in testimony against me, and in part because the officer was lying and I was able to demonstrate that to the satisfaction of the judge, using the officer’s own inconsistent testimony to do so.

First off, what makes you think Gates acted stupidly? Secondly, a police officer being stupid is FAR more dangerous than a private citizen being stupid.

Wow, fafaroo, and to think you called me a hack before. Nice use of the plural on ‘conservative activists’ and lumping it in with a Glenn Beck comment and using these two guys to say ‘they’, as in ‘that’s all they’ve got.

Do you really think this is why Obama’s poll numbers are dropping so dramatically? Because Obama’s black and ‘they’ are all racists?

I harken back to the days of old when his election showed how we’ve gotten past all that. Now in some tough times politically for Obama, it’s like it was the week after Sarah Palin gave her acceptance speech at the Republican convention, that we’re a racist country and that’s why Obama was behind in the polls.

Wow. Just wow. That’s your de facto leader, Republicans. Right there. You must be so proud.

When you have a guy like Glenn Beck saying that health care reform is “reparations” and conservative activists forwarding around photoshopped images of Obama as a witch doctor, this is their answer to serious policy questions: OMG Obama’s BLACK!!!

That’s all they got.

On the other hand, it also gives them an opportunity to further marginalize themselves as the party of the whiny white dude, so maybe it’s all part of Obama’s subtle master-plan.

So the whole of his remark was “Let’s face it, President Obama is black and he has a chip on his shoulder.”

So honest question, Denny; Do you believe that?

Dennis…I don’t see where Sgt. Crowley came into Oliver’s observation or the screenshot showing the Fox chyron.

The rest of the Maha-Rushie’s statement was ‘and he has a chip on his shoulder’. The chyron that you alluded to was paraphrasing him and stating that Obama was angry at this country and not proud of it, and you said Obama was not angry at the country, just those who have ruined it. So I thought your comment about who Obama was really angry at begged the question of whether you thought Obama was angry at Sgt. Crowley and if he was one of those people who he thought was ruining the country.

You and I are in agreement that Gates’ button-pushing should’ve been noted and that there are much bigger worries than a pissed off professor. Obama’s not mentioning Gates’ behavior that contributed to the escalation of the situation just took what should’ve been a forgotten incident by now into an unnecessarily distracting and embarrassing one for Obama, and that was a mistake on his part, IMO.
