Rush Limbaugh: “Let’s Face It, President Obama Is Black”

He says it like a cancer diagnosis. And in his eyes, it clearly is.

The FauxNews chyron has a point….but Obama’s not angry at the Country–only at those who ruined it for the rest of us.

  2. Steve LaBonne says:

The President is black? Oh my God. Why has no one told me of this before? Quick, hide the wimmins and kiddies!

I’M angry at a country where filth like Pillhead Pervert are given a soapbox to spread hate, and find so many willing dupes.

  3. joaquin says:

Obama is Black??? I didn’t know that!
Oliver, did you know that he also has 2 daughters????
Please provide us more of your incredible insight.

  4. Steve LaBonne says:

Obama is Black??? I didn’t know that!

Rush also seems to think it’s big news. I guess he’s as stupid as you are, ace.

  5. Dennis says:

The FauxNews chyron has a point….but Obama’s not angry at the Country–only at those who ruined it for the rest of us.

And so what, Obama faults Sgt. Crowley for being one of those ruining the country for the rest of us?

  6. jr says:

“Obama wants to take your daughters’ virginity. What will you do to stop him?”-Rush

  7. ‘And so what, Obama faults Sgt. Crowley for being one of those ruining the country for the rest of us?’

Suggesting the cop acted stupidly is your idea of his ‘faulting’ the country?

  8. Svlad Jelly says:

He says it like we used to say: “Faced it, George Bush is dumb.”

  9. Dennis says:

Suggesting the cop acted stupidly is your idea of his ‘faulting’ the country?

Not in those words, jrfunky, but that was the question I was asking justadood in his response to the chyron above, yes.

But since you ask me, I have no idea why Obama seemed eager to broach this subject and make an opinion on it on national TV before he knew all the facts of the case. I think it was a bad move for a guy who was supposed to be post-racial. If he thought the policeman acted stupidly and stated it to the world, why didn’t he also say Gates acted stupidly, which Gates clearly did?

  10. Steve LaBonne says:

I think it was a bad move for a guy who was supposed to be post-racial.

And I’m sure we’ll all take the uninformed opinion that you pulled out of your ass with all the seriousness that it deserves.

  11. anotherbozo says:

    the arrest was stupid. period.

  12. Indeed says:

Why don’t you take that bone out of your nose and call me back.

  13. Repack Rider says:

why didn’t he also say Gates acted stupidly, which Gates clearly did?

Asking a police officer for his name and badge number while he is in the house he has acknowledged as yours is SO stupid.

Getting angry when this legitimate request is refused is SO Black.

  14. To all you commenters who have never faced any possibly serious trouble with the police, feel free to continue believing that you can say whatever you want to a policeman in your home, because you have committed no crime. Go on believing they can’t enter your home without a warrant and / or probable cause, because of the Fourth Amendment: “You got nothin’ on me – don’t come back without a warrant.”
Here’s a funny one: If you get pulled over for speeding, and the Officer asks, “Do you have any idea how fast you were going?”, just say, “How the hell should I know? – my speedometer is busted!” He’ll really appreciate your sense of humor.

  15. PD100 says:

To all deprived commenters who have lived the bunker life, by all means put on a police uniform and question people who are legally entering their homes starting in areas like Compton, Inglewood or West Baltimore. Your candor will be appreciated.

  16. mike in dc says:

Funny, I was just going to reference Limbaugh visiting the DR, punched in google as far as “rush limbaugh dominican”, and it offered the following 5 choices to “help” my search:
    “rush limbaugh dominican republic”
    “rush limbaugh dominican boys”
    “rush limbaugh dominican republic boys”
    “rush limbaugh dominican prostitutes”
    “rush limbaugh dominican republic prostitutes”

I guess getting busted with someone else’s Viagra and a bunch of condoms on your way back from a country notorious for child prostitution tends to skew the search results a bit.

  17. justadood says:

Dennis…I don’t see where Sgt. Crowley came into Oliver’s observation or the screenshot showing the Fox chyron.

Since you were so kind as to bring it up, Sgt. Crowley *did* react stupidly, although Dr. Gates’s button-pushing should be noted. In all of that, Gates was in the right–it was *his* home, and the officer should have just ‘let it go’…there are bigger worries, even in sleepy Cambridge, than a pissed-off Professor.

  18. I'm a Hick says:

A couple of well-known local incidents:

    CITY OF HOUSTON V. HILL, 482 U. S. 451 (1987)

Questions surround shooting of baseballer’s son:

  19. Dennis says:

Dennis…I don’t see where Sgt. Crowley came into Oliver’s observation or the screenshot showing the Fox chyron.

The rest of the Maha-Rushie’s statement was ‘and he has a chip on his shoulder’. The chyron that you alluded to was paraphrasing him and stating that Obama was angry at this country and not proud of it, and you said Obama was not angry at the country, just those who have ruined it. So I thought your comment about who Obama was really angry at begged the question of whether you thought Obama was angry at Sgt. Crowley and if he was one of those people who he thought was ruining the country.

You and I are in agreement that Gates’ button-pushing should’ve been noted and that there are much bigger worries than a pissed off professor. Obama’s not mentioning Gates’ behavior that contributed to the escalation of the situation just took what should’ve been a forgotten incident by now into an unnecessarily distracting and embarrassing one for Obama, and that was a mistake on his part, IMO.

  20. Duros62 says:

The rest of the Maha-Rushie’s statement was ‘and he has a chip on his shoulder’.

So the whole of his remark was “Let’s face it, President Obama is black and he has a chip on his shoulder.”

So honest question, Denny; Do you believe that?

  21. Wilbur says:

Yes, that was a mistake on his part. It allows the republicans to distract attention (for however brief a time) from the fact that they have nothing to offer on real issues like health care and the economy.

On the other hand, it also gives them an opportunity to further marginalize themselves as the party of the whiny white dude, so maybe it’s all part of Obama’s subtle master-plan.

  22. Indeed says:

Shorter Dennis/Rush/et al: Why are Black People so uppity? Why can’t They help Themselves?

  23. fafaroo says:

It allows the republicans to distract attention (for however brief a time) from the fact that they have nothing to offer on real issues like health care and the economy.

When you have a guy like Glenn Beck saying that health care reform is “reparations” and conservative activists forwarding around photoshopped images of Obama as a witch doctor, this is their answer to serious policy questions: OMG Obama’s BLACK!!!

    That’s all they got.

  24. Indeed says:

Rush Limbaugh: “Let’s Face It, President Obama Is Black”

Wow. Just wow. That’s your de facto leader, Republicans. Right there. You must be so proud.

  25. Dennis says:

    That’s all they got.

Wow, fafaroo, and to think you called me a hack before. Nice use of the plural on ‘conservative activists’ and lumping it in with a Glenn Beck comment and using these two guys to say ‘they’, as in ‘that’s all they’ve got.

Do you really think this is why Obama’s poll numbers are dropping so dramatically? Because Obama’s black and ‘they’ are all racists?

I harken back to the days of old when his election showed how we’ve gotten past all that. Now in some tough times politically for Obama, it’s like it was the week after Sarah Palin gave her acceptance speech at the Republican convention, that we’re a racist country and that’s why Obama was behind in the polls.

  26. Indeed says:

I harken back to the days of old when his election showed how we’ve gotten past all that.

Let’s face it, President Obama is Black!

I’m sorry, your Supreme Leader interrupted. You were saying?

  27. Zython says:

If he thought the policeman acted stupidly and stated it to the world, why didn’t he also say Gates acted stupidly, which Gates clearly did?

First off, what makes you think Gates acted stupidly? Secondly, a police officer being stupid is FAR more dangerous than a private citizen being stupid.

Go on believing they can’t enter your home without a warrant and / or probable cause

Legally, they can’t. Seems that Frank supports police doing whatever the hell they want.

  28. Repack Rider says:

Here’s a funny one: If you get pulled over for speeding, and the Officer asks, “Do you have any idea how fast you were going?”,

What he is asking for is a guilty statement that can then be used against you. Do not answer that question, or any other except to give your name.

I cited my Fifth Amendment rights to a California Highway Patrol officer under those circumstances, and he wrote me up. Then I took him to court, and he told the judge that I “took the Fifth” when I was asked if I had been in violation. The judge smiled at me when he said that, and he looked as though he would have high-fived me if he could. I won the case, in part because the officer tried to use my citation of rights in testimony against me, and in part because the officer was lying and I was able to demonstrate that to the satisfaction of the judge, using the officer’s own inconsistent testimony to do so.

  29. fafaroo says:

I harken back to the days of old when his election showed how we’ve gotten past all that.

Uh, Dennis, who keeps injecting race into what should be a straight policy discussion: conservatives.

There is absolutely no reason in the world to equate health care reform with slavery reparations. None. Zero.

And yet Beck made that assertion quite plainly. Why?

Can you explain that line of reasoning?

  30. Legally, they can’t. Seems that Frank supports police doing whatever the hell they want.
    a) There is NO logical connection between the second sentence and the first.
    b) I never said they could.
    c) That’s two swings and two misses.

  31. Bluriley says:

Was Rush Johnson in Blazing Saddles?

  32. Zython says:

Let’s see what you wrote again, Frank.

Go on believing they can’t enter your home without a warrant and / or probable cause

You state “Go on believing” as though the subsequent clause weren’t true. Here, it is shown that you believe that they CAN do this. This invalidates point b, and by extension, point c.

As for point a, I can’t help but read it as approval of these practices, by virtue of your dismissive tone to those that criticized them.

  33. Plantsmantx says:

“But since you ask me, I have no idea why Obama seemed eager to broach this subject and make an opinion on it on national TV before he knew all the facts of the case.”

He knew the fact he needed to know- a man was arrested for (supposedly) raising his voice in his own house. And, that “he’s suoopsed to be postracial” remark is telling.

  34. [...] it:As Oliver Willis points out, you’d think El Rushbo was diagnosing the president with a fatal illness.Ironically, Barack Obama has been called “the least angry Black man in America,” and [...]

  35. Lancelot Link says:

“…I have no idea why Obama seemed eager to broach this subject and make an opinion on it on national TV before he knew all the facts of the case.”
Obama didn’t broach the subject. It was a press conference and a reporter asked him about it.

  36. gumby says:

    “The president is a n********!!!”

Man, I gotta rent Blazing Saddles again this weekend. Except it won’t be quite as funny as reality. But close, and 20 years early.

  37. Jimmy Bryant says:

Yeah, Mel Brooks’ classic cowboy movie came to mind with me too…
