I dunno, I think Bill Clinton really liked Dick Morris' "triangulation" strategy for a while, which backed up the DLC project of undoing the liberal-labor dominance of the Democratic Party by selecting legislation created and backed by Republicans and businesses interests and then pushing it through Congress with strong Republican support, a coalition of conservative Democrats, and against and over the opposition of a majority of Democrats.

That was a main aspect of NAFTA which appealed to Clinton and Morris -- it was a way to completely rub sh*t in the faces of liberal and labor Democrats. And since there was an entire movement of Democrats who were convinced that the future of the Democratic Party would lie with conservative, Southern Democrats, this strategy appealed.

It didn't work out so well for the party as a whole, though, given that this helped hand Congress to Republicans for a dozen years and set us all up for the Republican triumvirate under Bush Jr.

But since Clinton was also a fiendishly committed and brilliant manager, he did incredibly well at managing the nation and the economy -- apart from helping to set up the later financial collapse through deregulatory fetishism.

Republicans look rather different after their 4 years of absolute power over all branches of government, and most Americans wouldn't trust them with handling garbage collection, while Dick Morris still cheerleads their awsum leadership.

Touche there, OW, but I said he was a Republican ten+ years ago, too long to sterotype Republicans now for his nativist views.

If 'Once a Republican, always a Republican', you'd never post stories at HuffPo, would you?

Also, according to you things that happened a decade+ ago are now irrelevant (Buchanan), right?

Pfft. I said that like, what, two days ago? Too far in the past to hold me accountable for that statement.

"'know, george bush basically believes the federal government should do two things: fight wars and help people recover from disasters and now he's got both on his plate. i think that his ratings are gonna soar! not necessarily in the next three days, but over the next year he's gonna look so good doing all this stuff!"

even more classic (and classier) morris - may 2007:

"i think that withdrawal from iraq, it obviously gives al qaeda a huge victory — huge victory. on the other hand, if we stay in iraq, it gives them the opportunity to kill more americans, which they really like. one of the things, though, that i think that the anti-war crowd has not considered, is that if we're putting the americans right within their [the terrorists'] arms reach, they don't have to come to wall street to kill americans. they don't have to knock down the trade center. they can do it around the corner, and convenience is a big factor when you're a terrorist."

As with James Carville, Bill Clinton was far more useful to Dick Morris than the other way around. Also, according to you thinks that happened a decade+ ago are now irrelevant (Buchanan), right?

I will admit, though, that Dick Morris is exceptionally bad at predicting the past — he does nothing but make shit up and lie.

Hmmm. I wonder what Bill Clinton found appealing about that in him?

Baffling.

Actually, Dick Morris consistently predicts that most of the time the future will consist of things that will never happen. Subtle difference, that.

Yes, but you've got to give credit to Dick Morris for predicting that most of the time the future will consists of things that haven't happened yet.

"...busting Morris's balls..."

Doubt it. I'm sure the "ribbing" was pretty gentle. Even on the (very rare) occasions when O'Lielly takes issue with his conservative guests (i.e. Morris), it's never in the stern or confrontational manner that he uses on many of his liberal ones.

Isn't this the Chris Ruddy that was the big "Clintons killed Vince Foster" clown? As I recall, since the on-scene coroner said there was a single bullet hole in the back of his neck, and the full autopsy said there was a single bullet hole in the back of his head, somebody concluded that it was evidence that there were two bullet holes. Was that Ruddy?
