Confronted with data on health care from a liberal, Beck resorts to conservative blithering. We knew he was nuts, but…

Condescending prick.
Wow. He’s seriously disturbed. Listening to him self-destruct is like watching a slow motion train wreck.
Reminds me of Mark “The Great One” Levin, whom I heard some weeks ago complaining about socialism etc. etc., when a registered nurse called in to explain her own direct personal experiences with care delivery, and he jumped in and called her a liar and dismissed everything she said. These wackos are just plain callous, indifferent, and bugfuck crazy.
What an obsequious putz
Rheinhard: These wackos are just plain callous, indifferent, and bugfuck crazy.
They’re just your standard bully. That is, they are terrified that someone might noticed how insecure they are so they shout down any opposing voice. Like any self-respecting kindergartner would.
When the misconceptions of the foolish, the prejudices of the arrogant, and the interests of the rich and powerful align, the results can be truly hideous.
So, the fact that wealthy overseas leaders come to the U.S. for intensive, high-end surgery, that is Beck’s reasoning that the entire health care system is just fine? Yet, given the fact that a comfortable majority of Americans would like a public insurance option (not a takeover), Beck does not see those numbers. The foreigners with money seem to carry more weight than the millions of consumers who do without insurance, and the thousands of small businesses, like mine, that cannot afford to give raises, simply because we only have enough extra money to cover the cost of increasing health insurance costs.
If we’re talking about foreigners, my Korean co-workers has to buy airline tickets for his wife and daughter, so they could fly back to Korea for some heavy duty cardiac work on his kid. Her pre-existing condition meant that no private insurer would offer her coverage in the U.S. Since my co-worker is still a Korean citizen, his kids can qualify under their insurance system. Plus, increasing numbers of Americans fly to Thailand and India to get routine surgery done, because it is simply cheaper to do it there. But that is a story Beck probably won’t want to hear.
What a fuckwad. Also, a liar. Universal, public health care would actually save the U.S. money.
I listened to this expecting the usual bs, but got hysteric screeching instead. I hope most conservatives have enough self-respect not to identify with this individual.
As far as Beck is concerned, only the rich, powerful, and Republican matter…the rest of us can fuck off and die.
Please tell Glenn Beck that I come from Canada and have NEVER suffered from its system, having fortunately never experienced severe medical problems, though like all older folks I do have issues. And I have never heard or read about such a dumb thing about “a lottery” to get medical care.
Don’t forget Canada is a vast country with a tenth of the U.S. population, with many isolated communities lacking physicians and nurses, etc., and yes I have read about Canadians seeking care in the U.S. But they are/were mostly isolated cases who may have pushed their options to the limit. Too many cases should be closely examined…
It’s not perfect, particularly in this economic environment, but by golly I would give up the U.S. system any day. And of course many won’t believe this, but I honestly miss it.
Btw, Canadians can withdraw from the system if they can afford it…same for physicians.

In passing, Glenn Beck sounds a little ‘nutty’. What is he so afraid of? The local destitute getting medical attention? Heaven forbid.
You notice he got real calm and articulate when it came time to promote his book. Listen, the methodology is the same. All these talk show types are about using the rhetoric of conservative politics as a platform to steer folks towards their products (books, comrcl air time, etc)
[Note, I didn't say 'stupid' folks...but I was thinking it]
I firmly believe the becks, hannitys, oreillys,LIMBAUGHs,coulters of the world, could give a rats ass about the political landscape, or welfare of our republic. It’s just an ideal platform (petrie dish) to grow/sell their snake oil in cypbersphere….
Another 8 figure earner wanting middle class families to be wiped out by private insurance’s administrative costs
What an awful person.
He’d never have the courage to speak with anyone like that if they stood in the same room. No chickenhawk does.
I would only call Glenn Beck to laugh about how big a shitty failure his summer “comedy” tour on live digital HD theaters was. Whenever we were inflicted with ads for Beck’s shitty live “comedy” shows broadcast into our theaters on this ’special’ occasion, I made sure to boo.
Yeah, he’s always been a Daily Show wannabee. His old radio ‘skit’ show was half-assed but passable most days [radio comedy is a difficult art]. Somehow, he got it into his head that he could pull off a Jon Stewart by hooking up with CNN. Reality is a bitch.
No real comedy skills AND no real insight into actual issues…what a dilemma, what to do??? Just change gears and pretend to be a real pundit, or should I say a real conservative talk-radio host. At least he doesn’t have wrestling skills….he might have wound up on WWE…..and that would have been a sad day for the wrestling industry.
Yeah, like Beck is any more “nuts” than that delirious nutjob Krazy Keith O. But then hardly anyone watches Keith (much less his entire network) these days so I cant blame you guys for being forgetful there.
You can watch Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, and Ed Schultz online:
http://olbermann.msnbc.com
http://maddow.msnbc.com
http://ed.msnbc.com
You can download (or podcast) Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow’s shows:
http://podcasts.msnbc.com
Hopefully Ed Schultz will get podcast eventually.
What kind of person acts like this? Jesus fucking Christ.
Ghost, shut the fuck up. You’ve got nothing but, “I know what you are, but what am I?” bullshit. And I don’t believe that Keith has EVER sounded like that when having a conversation with someone on the air.
Fucking stupid asshole, feels like he has to defend abhorrent behavior from a jackass just because the jackass is a conservative. What a fucking douchetastic bastard.
Beck sounded pretty weird there, but it’s not a given that Olbermann wouldn’t do the same thing if he ever allowed guests with contrarian viewpoints on his show. It’s not that he’s afraid of the confrontation so much as he’s not so sure he wouldn’t do the same thing as Beck did if someone disagreed with him. He’d be just as likely to blow a gasket as Beck, but probably more likely to hurl out one or two epithets that he’d end up regretting, so that’s why he plays it ridiculously safe on his show by bringing on guests that they can both amicably nod their heads up and down with each other and both have a good laugh and then close by telling each other how insightful they both were.
Dennis the Bigot: “Beck sounded pretty weird there, but it’s not a given that Olbermann wouldn’t do the same thing if he ever allowed guests with contrarian viewpoints on his show.”
Why would he?
Why should Keith Olbermann give more air time to the morons and idiots out there? That’s what Fox news is for.
Hell, the MSNBC as a network gives far too much airtime to morons and idiots as it is.
Dennis, that may well be, but you know your entire post is purely speculative. You don’t really know the reasons that Olbermann doesn’t have a lot of conservative guests/commenters. You don’t really know that Olbermann would freak out like Beck did in an analogous situation. It’s certainly in the realm of possibility, but to my knowledge has never actually happened.
My issue with Ghost is that he immediately deflects from Beck to Olbermann, and this deflection is irrelevant, because Olbermann has never done this to a guest. Even if Olbermann HAD, it wouldn’t change the fact that Beck acted like an unhinged asshole to this woman. But Ghost’s stupidity is even more pronounced considering that he’s making a comparison at the level of speculation.
And for the record, if I knew of Olbermann treating another person in this manner, I would join you conservatives in calling him an asshole for it. This is purely inexcusable behavior, regardless of political ideology.
It reminds me of that pre-election thread that OW posted about the woman who only handed out Halloween candy to children that supported McCain. That is seriously fucked up and inexcusable.
People need to be better.
The foreigners with money seem to carry more weight than the millions of consumers who do without insurance, and the thousands of small businesses, like mine, that cannot afford to give raises, simply because we only have enough extra money to cover the cost of increasing health insurance costs.
That about sums him up. don’t it?
You don’t really know the reasons that Olbermann doesn’t have a lot of conservative guests/commenters.
Because they are always wrong morons with nothing interesting to say? Pat Buchanana has an open seat on Rachel Maddow AND Hardball. That’s enough batshit for anybody.
Olbermann has had on a number of right-leaning guests. Lawrence Wilkerson, who was Powell’s top guy. Bruce Fein (I think that was his name), a Reagan era Justice Department lawyer who blasted Gonzalez’ handiwork when he was AG. He even had shock jock Eric “Mancow” Muller on to talk about waterboarding. Olbermann can get a little obsessed with talk radio nuts, but he has on conservatives who have real responsibilities, not just radio guys interested in selling ad time.
Wow! I do not see how anybody can justify Beck’s behavior to that caller. I’m alarmed by how many folks defend somebody so hateful and hate-filled, so I would have to think that these folks are the same hatemongers that he is. It’s pathetic AND alarming.
Is this representative of a normal Beck radio show ?
I don’t mean the screaming bit – the bit before where he is talking / sniping / snarking underneath the caller whilst she is trying to make her point.
It’s absolutely horrific. What is he, seven ?
the bit before where he is talking / sniping / snarking underneath the caller whilst she is trying to make her point.
Like I said, condescending prick. But obsequious putz works for me too.
Protip for progressive folks calling in to these guys: don’t dial without an air horn at the ready. Might get ya some respect.
this is ridiculous…although, the lady that called in wasn’t doing too well defending her own, either. just another example of two people spewing the same, expected political rhetoric at each other. i wish the lady had called with a well prepared argument…and brought glenn beck down in flames.
OMFG, Beck is insane. Absolutely insane.
“I’m alarmed by how many folks defend somebody so hateful and hate-filled
The right wing has been becoming more and more extreme for decades and it’s reflected in the violence prone authoritarians of what remains of the Republican Party.
There are what, two Republican moderates remaining in the Republican Party?
That’s not to say that Republican moderates aren’t represented, but nearly all of the Republican moderates have joined the Democratic Party ({cough, blue-dogs, cough}).
Most right wingers and nearly all Republicans are too cowardly to go on Rachel Maddows show. She practically begs them to come on her show.
It’s not that she isn’t respectful, she’s extremely respectful and gives her guests ample time to state their case.
But she asks tough questions and most Republicans are too cowardly to face tough questions, even when those tough questions are asked respectfully.

Dear Glenn Beck’s hemorrhoid, Please explode again, and this time do it right.
What a retard! I could not stand him when he was on cnn nor can I now.I am surprised that there is audiance for jerks like him who have no skills how to interact respectfully with the listeners.
Beck sounded pretty weird there, but it’s not a given that Olbermann wouldn’t do the same thing if he ever allowed guests with contrarian viewpoints on his show.
Awesome point, Britney. And if George Washington had had a robot friend, the history of these United States would have–almost certainly–been different.
Honestly, my true feeling is this would be a mistake for Olbermann to allow more viewpoints. It’s a fight that will produce no winners and will make a lot of people on both sides look bad. And KO has much bigger fish to fry right now trying to combat right wing idiocy and what have you.
Indeed is my hero of the week.
Did you listen to the WHOLE clip? Glenn explained his position clearly. So what if he had a “meltdown” on his own show? If we had MORE people like him around, we would not be on a hellbond train to socialism, or worse.
Wake up, people, before it is too late!
Watch out for Dennis. He can read minds. That’s how he accomplished so much in his mystery career.
I don’t think he really realizes what an asset he is to his critics. He is the base against which all else is measured. How neo-conservative are you, max being Glenn Beck bat-shit insane? He’s a caricature, a stereotype. To take him seriously is to forfeit all rights to intelligent debate and any measure of rationality.
I am not a medical and/or psychiatric heathcare professional. That said, that man is f’ing nutz.
That he has both a radio and cable outlet for his insanities scares me about my country.
Bill Baranowski – if we had more people like Glenn Beck around, I would be even more distraught and upset with humanity. Glenn Beck is a consummate asshole.
Glenn Beck is a fine example of a “Conservitive Wack Job”!! Him and Ann Coulter Should Be Married!!
Well, let’s be honest here. Even conservative Democrats (Ben Nelson) are afraid of Rachel.
Beck and Coulter CAN’T get married, except in Massachussetts.
Republican “Logic”:
Right Wing Extremist on CNN = Liberal Media.
‘If we had MORE people like him around, we would not be on a hellbond train to socialism, or worse.’
No, you’d be on a rocketship to Fascism.
People did wake up, in 2006 and 2008, kicking Republican Bushbots out of Congress and the WH.
Might as well get used to it, you’ll be seeing it for another 7.5 years at the very least.
Beck is an asshat and deserves the praise of the likes of you.
“If we had MORE people like him around, we would not be on a hellbond train to socialism, or worse.
Wake up, people, before it is too late!”
Haven’t you heard, the Berlin wall fell a while back.
I listen to most of the but bars but I can’t stomach glen. Call me crazy on both counts.
If we had MORE people like him around, we would not be on a hellbond train to socialism, or worse.
You’re looney!
Glenn Beck is an absolute moron, he’s one of the most small, petty miserable and insecure men to ever walk the Earth.
A complete and utter waste of a human being.
First, I would like to say- It is of course your right to disagree with me, but as I have read your comments on this issue, please read mine in full and watch the links I have included IN FULL. We need to listen to each other fully and come to a compromise on this issue, as the majority may be in power, but the minority’s rights are to be protected as well:
I feel sorry for Mr. Beck. It must be EXTREMELY frustrating for him to talk to people who believe The United States of America should be like every other Industrialized nation in the world. Let’s remember there is a reason we are the only “Land of the Free” in the world. Do you really think Conservatives- LIKE ME- want people to get sick and DIE?? NO! But it is simply NOT TRUE!!
As Glen Beck’s frustration with his caller obviously did not allow him to respectfully present his view, as a viewer of his television show myself, I feel I am capable of explaining what he really wanted to say about the Democratic plan to overhaul American healthcare: Fixing the current healthcare system’s specific flaws IS necessary! We can fix the areas of the healthcare system that are broken, without Socializing medicine. In fact, Republicans in Congress have their own healthcare bill that will address the specific issues at hand, without once again, SOCIALIZING the medical industry. Watch and listen for a synopsis:
If you still don’t buy this idea, listen to one of our former American leaders, as he explains CALMLY why Socialized medicine is BAD for America: (This clip is VERY OLD, but more relevant than ever!)

My link to the current healthcare plan put forward by Rep. John Kyl was not there, so here it is: http://www.youtube.com/SenJonKyl
Have a wonderful day!
