Update: Ryan Reynolds got the part.

This week, the race narrowed to Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. The clock is ticking on the decision as the holding deal the studio had on the actors expired Monday, meaning the three are now free to accept other offers.
My preference would probably be for Ryan Reynolds, but Justin Timberlake might surprise. He’s one of the better celebrity hosts they’ve had for SNL in a few years, so he might have the chops to pull it off – but he’s a little skinny for the role.
If you haven’t you should read Green Lantern: Rebirth, for someone like myself who only cared about GL as a member of the Justice League and not much more, it made me a fan.
There’s a fan trailer out there with Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan. The trailer is homemade CGI and clips of Fillion from whatever they could pull together.
He would make a good Hal, I think, and not just for the in-joke of Captain Tightpants playing a superhero.
I think Fillion would make an excellent GL. I’m not sure about this crop they are looking at for the role. I’m as big a GL fan as OW is a Superman fan. I REALLY want them to get this right. Besides, Ryan Reynolds is already doing the Deadpool movie…
Justin Timberlake? Oliver, I demand you take back any consideration for this tool. If Timberlake is given the role, I may just refuse to see Green Lantern story get eviserated.I think Ryan Reynolds would be good, but he is also got Deadpool going. Two different superheroes? Not entirely implausible but a stretch. I think Bradley Cooper is the new “it” guy so my money is on him getting the role.
I just want them to cast Bruce Campbell as Guy Gardner.

It’s Reynolds, according to Variety
Wow. I guess he is aiming to capitalize on the superhero movie market. Can’t say I blame him. Green Lantern has some good stories.
Glad to hear it. I’m a RR fan.
Are you reading any of the Blackest Night stuff that’s going on, Oliver?
I honestly don’t have high hopes for this movie. Ryan Reynolds isn’t the worst choice for Hal but neither is he the best choice. He’s a milquetoast choice if anything — he doesn’t have the presence or depth of a Robert Downey Jr., but then again, neither is he woefully miscast like Ben Affleck as Daredevil. No, the problem with this film is that the script is hacky, and Martin Campbell is merely looking for a huge payday. But we live in the post-Transformers 2 era now, and that means movies don’t have to be good. They just have to be big.
As a Loyal Canuck, I’m glad Ryan Reynolds got the part. Also, he’s a good actor.
That said, I’m not that interested in this movie and will wait till the trailer is released before I decide if I want to check it out.
This is being filmed in Sydney and I’m pretty sure I saw the crew doing pre-production work for it last week in the ‘Hunter Connection’ shopping arcade, which is about 100 meters from where the Matrix red dress scene was shot.
