While 67% of Americans view President Barack Obama favorably, his overall job approval rating and his ratings on specific areas are less positive. At the low end of the spectrum, only 45% of Americans approve of Obama's handling of federal spending, and 46% of his handling of the federal budget deficit

Americans are more positive in their opinions of Obama as a person than they are when asked to rate his job performance, as well as how he has handled a series of specific issues or policy areas.

Sure he's still extremely popular as a person right now, but disapproval of his policies and actions are rising. At what point do you think the latter starts to affect the former? My guess is it will be when the first middle class tax increases are announced (or possibly the first paycheck with new higher withholding rates). But I did enjoy this:

Obama's favorable rating is now slightly higher than that of his immediate predecessor, George W. Bush, at the same point in his first year. Bush had a 65% favorable rating in April 2001 and a 62% favorable rating in June of that year.

Congrats, Obama! You're slightly ahead of the Chimperor Bush at this point. Keep up the good work! More tea parties please. Oh not to worry, they're coming.

Even my Republican father-in-law said the other day that he thinks Obama is doing a “pretty good job” which is huge.
