When I cast a vote for Virginia governor, I look for somebody who is more committed to the state than he is to national politics. I never sensed that commitment from McAuliffe.

I think Moran would have been a perfectly acceptable nominee. At a certain point, the Democratic party in VA has to get a governor who's going to focus on infrastructure development in NoVa rather than recruiting people from Richmond and western Virginia just because they think these guys can win and the Dems are afraid a NoVa-based candidate would be vulnerable.

Terry McAuliffe, on the other hand, is a fine case of how the ability to raise money deludes people into believing they're worthwhile leaders with good ideas. Just think about how many Terry McAuliffes there are out there who didn't lose their elections and end up taking up otherwise useful space in office while not doing anything productive except raising money for their next election.

Can the Democratic Party trade Terry McAuliffe for one of Maine's Republican Senators?

It looks like this is a continuation of the end of the Clinton era.

The Obama Era keeps moving along.

This is really good news. The good guy wins, just like last November.

I'm surprised there isn't more chatter as to how the Democratic resurgence coincides with a relative decline in the prominence of Clinton-era hacks like Carville, Begala, and Shrum. Granted, Carville has a new book out, but so much of Obama's success IMO comes from his decision to build a new, non-Clinton aligned team.

G'night, Terry.

I wouldn't hire McAuliffe to mow my lawn. How do fools like this wind up in jobs that pay huge?

Could he be the reason the Democratic Party did so badly until 2006?
