Bernard Kerik Indicted
Tweet
You remember, Rudy Giuliani’s choice for Homeland Security secretary.
CBS 2 HD has learned that former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington on charges of making false statements to White House officials during his vetting for the position of Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The new indictment was handed up Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Washington, and means Kerik will face trials in New York and Washington, D.C.

But this is obviously good news for
John McCainRudy Giuliani. Also President Bush’s choice for Sec of HLS.
Well Kerik was Bush’s choice based on a Giuliani recommendation.
Kerik was a “national security expert” on Fox
Federal charges? Dammit, I was looking forward to seeing him staying over at the Bernard B. Kerik Detention Center.

Still Bush’s responsibility. Just like Michael Brown was, despite being picked because of the recommendation of numerous frat brothers and Babs’s pinochle partners.
An indictment is as good as a guilty plea, when it’s leveled at a Republican or a Conservative.
But when a liberal Congressman is caught with a freezer full of Stouffer’s Lasagna and $90,000 cash, we await the outcome of a trial to see whether or not he’s guilty.
Holy frijoles! I can’t believe I never heard this particular Kerik tidbit before… from Rajiv Chandrasekaran’s “Imperial Life in the Emerald City” (via FDL)…
It seems like there were a lot of people vying with ol’ Doug Feith for the “Stupidest Fucking Guy on the Planet” title…

The Congressman in question was dealt with even before he was indicted by members of his own party:
BTW, deal with the subject at hand, which is Kerik, instead of showing off your ignorance.
DA: Did I make a mistake and mention a double standard?
Did I forget that Mr Kerik has only been indicted?
Did I forget that Ted Stevens was indicted and forced to step out of his race for the Senate and then exonerated?
Did you not notice (a few lines below your WikiPedia reference), this :
“the Jefferson Parish share of the district voted for Jefferson by a staggering 71% to 29%, clearly swinging the election in his favor.” [He won]
and this:
“Federal Judge T. S. Ellis III—on request from Jefferson’s attorney Robert P. Trout “for two to three additional weeks”—delayed the trial opening date by one week, to June 2 [2009]”
Stick to the point? Yeah, well, the point was / is : An indictment is meaningless when the person indicted is a liberal; but when it’s a conservative or a Republican, they’re ordering the rope as they build the scaffold.
Any questions?
Frank DiSalle, you’re being dishonest and trying to go “look! over there!” Republicans love to bring of Rep. Jefferson because they were convinced that the Democrats were going to leap to his defense, and even when they didn’t, the right-wingers fantasized in their own warped minds, that they did.
Josh Marshall (perhaps quoting from someone else) had the best quip about Kerik a few years ago: He was one more scandal away from being awarded the medal of freedom.
False equivalence, DiSalle– republican stalwarts Giuliani and Bush were behind this crook all the way. Democrats threw out the trash. That’s because Republicans love crooks like Bernie Kerik and people like Bush and Giuliani are poor judges of character. He’s just another example of the mold and filth that was part of Bush’s inner circle. It was a standard pattern among those surrounding Bush. And to this day, slavish Bushlovers like DiSalle have never taken personal responsibility for their role they had in the crooks and crackpottery and criminality that surrounded the Bush administration. A little personal responsibility DiSalle– you supported and voted for and publically defended republican trash and still don’t understand the error of your ways. Your precious president supported putting a crook in charge of DHS, because Republicans are a bad judge of character and never managed to face up to that fact because they were too busy screaming “look over there!” when someone confronted them for being the
ignorant trash they are.

No, the point is that Jefferson was dealt with BEFORE he was indicted. That kinda puts the crimp in “Liberals treated differently than conservatives” BS.
Did I forget that Ted Stevens was indicted and forced to step out of his race for the Senate and then exonerated?
No, you forgot that he ran for re-election while under indictment indicted and tried for alleged crimes and lost.
From the Wiki on Stevens:
A little personal responsibility
Oh, Republicans are all about personal responsibility. Just as long as it’s someone else’s.
How ’bout that Mark Foley, huh? David Vitter?

Eeeeewwww. Sorry. Mental picture and all.
Nah, let’s just say I encountered a target-rich environment:
Ah, the hubris of the man. Pity he is as stupid as he is, else he would have known that it’s arrogance that brings the ultimate downfall. He really should have read some of those ancient Greek myths and the plays… the gods love to play with the arrogant and then bring them down.
“Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.”
