Michael Steele’s Latest Shuck & Jive

People wonder why I give Michael Steele such a hard time. Well, it’s for crap like this.

“He was not vetted, because the press fell in love with the black man running for the office,” said Steele. “Oh gee, wouldn’t it be neat to do that? Gee, wouldn’t it make all of our liberal guilt just go away? We can continue to ride around in our limousines and feel so lucky to live in an America with a black president.”

You see, Michael Steele is the kind of guy who sees no issue with throwing black people under the bus when its convenient for Michael Steele. And that’s the case with so many black conservatives/Republicans. Even worse, Steele doesn’t have the balls to do it when he’s actually in front of black people.

Luckily for him as RNC chair, he won’t run into too many of those.

Sorry Mike, that’s not why I voted for him.

  2. sgwhiteinfla says:

What sucks for Mike Steele is that if anybody was actually voted into office because of the color of their skin when people really didn’t know where they came down on the issues…..it was him as RNC chair. And thats real.

  3. Bruce says:

Who the hell votes who owns a limousine? You ever see one pull up to the precinct?

Stupid piece of garbage. Why did the RNC put him in, mister never won an election in his own right? It ain’t for Steele’s “performance” because he’s performing like the sick dream of one of the sicker, more bitter Kos diarists on Red Bull.

  4. Randy Brown says:

    Ni**a, PLEASE. Redux.

The GOP as a Southern regional party? Hell, even that’s not so solid…example, Philadelphia, Mississippi just elected its first black mayor. Philadelphia fuckin’ MISSISSIPPI.

“Somethin’ is happenin’, and ya don’t know what it is
    Do you, G.O.P.?”

  5. Since Mr. Steele is so insightful, when will he share how white people feel about him? Since he knows so much about white folks!

  6. sgwhiteinfla says:

And lest we forget, just the other day Steele said the GOP would attack President Obama with dignity and class. Unfortunately he doesn’t have any of either.

  7. Heh. I feel like someone should mention this part of Michael Steele’s quote, from the Prospect article you linked to:

“Who would think in 2009, you would have two black men at the pinnacle of political power in this country, irrespective of ideology, philosophy, that fact is a testament to struggle, perseverance and opportunity.”

Two black men? I know who the first is, that’s the president. But who is the second? Would that be Roland Burris? Eric Holder? I can’t figure it out, because obviously it’s not Michael Steele. That guy is just plane irrelevant.

  8. Armed2theTeeth says:

I know you want to fellate the guy, but have you really listened to him? President Teleprompter ain’t exactly the lothario (look it up) you thought he was.

  9. fafaroo says:

President Teleprompter ain’t exactly the lothario (look it up) you thought he was.

Oh no no no no. I am so not gonna look that up. It will be so much more entertaining to hear what you THINK it means.

  10. Armed2theTeeth says:

    Seducer of women… Like yourself… Dipshit…

Do you need me to look that on up for you too?

  11. Armed2theTeeth says:

Seducer of Women, actually he is a seducer of anyone without a sense of logic…

  12. fafaroo says:

I’m impressed that you found out what it means Armed but remain less impressed with your ability to use the word in a sentence that makes even the remotest fucking sense.

You really meant to write: President Teleprompter ain’t exactly the “Seducer of women” you thought he was.

    Really? That’s what you meant?

  13. jr says:

“I read this on stormfront. Think I’ll take it for a spin”-Michael Steele

  14. Parthenon says:

My god, he really still believes this. They really still believe he won because he’s black.

Keep it up clowns in the GOP, seriously.

  15. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Armed2theTeeth: “I know you want to fellate the guy, but have you really listened to him? President Teleprompter ain’t exactly the lothario (look it up) you thought he was.”

The homophobia is a nice touch. I like the myth of the Teleprompter coming up. That always helps the GOP. The use of ‘lothario’ seems misplaced. I don’t think anyone thought Obama was a real ladies man (you are thinking of Edwards).

It makes sense if you are using it in the ‘They’re coming for our women!’ racist slur, but I don’t want to put words in your mouth.

So could you explain what it means in the context of your post?

  16. Leota2 says:

I had decided to feel sorry for Mike a couple of days ago. The man is obviously a train wreck and a borderline personality. I believe we should tender a sympathetic heart to the mentally unbalanced.
But now that I see he is a true self loather, (who probably had slave catcher ancestors) I believe I shall toast his demise.

  17. Repack Rider says:

How does someone as poorly qualified as Mr. Steele ever get a position of responsibility in the first place?

    Pity?

  18. Duros62 says:

You really meant to write: President Teleprompter ain’t exactly the “Seducer of women” you thought he was.

    Really? That’s what you meant?

I thought that was Bill Clinton, no?

  19. Duros62 says:

So could you explain what it means in the context of your post?

No, I don’t think he can.

  20. Duros62 says:

(who probably had slave catcher ancestors)

    Ouch.

  21. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Fafaroo: “You really meant to write: President Teleprompter ain’t exactly the “Seducer of women” you thought he was.
    Really? That’s what you meant?”

Duros62: “I thought that was Bill Clinton, no?”

Clinton? Dude, that’s so 1990s. Edwards’ the new ladies man.

  22. Duros62 says:

    Oh yeah.

I didn’t get my blast fax from the listserve.

  23. smarty says:

Actually, that is the first smart thing I have heard Steele say.

But the hubub reminds me of the panty-twisting hysteria over Limbaugh’s Donovan McNab comment.

    Get over yourselves, moderates.

  24. Wait, all these years of being an independent I could have been chauffeured around in a limousine if I’d been a “liberal”?

  25. Tyro says:

Clinton? Dude, that’s so 1990s. Edwards’ the new ladies man

I think the talking points for Edwards are: “He’s so handsome and charismatic and seduces women: that’s so gay!”

  26. Robert says:

I wonder if ‘lothario’ is the new ‘Canadian’.

That said – OW, you do get some classy trolls here.

  27. Wareq says:

    “Limousines”?
    Twit.

  28. Amused Observer says:

    LOL,
Armed2the teeth strikes hard. Are you guys seriously claiming that Obama was given a good vetting by an adversarial media? Just checking.

  29. Zython says:

Seducer of Women, actually he is a seducer of anyone without a sense of logic…

Don’t flatter yourself. You didn’t even know what “sociopath” meant.

  30. C.S.Strowbridge says:

AO: “Armed2the teeth strikes hard. Are you guys seriously claiming that Obama was given a good vetting by an adversarial media? Just checking.”

If you are backing him up, then you know he’s wrong.

And yes, the media was harder on Obama than they were on McCain.

How many times did you hear about Rev. Wright?

How many times did you hear about Keating?

  31. mambochicken23 says:

This old fuckin’ retarded story about how “Oh noes, Obama had the media in his back pocket!” You fucking idiot cons. You just cannot handle the fact that he whupped you good, and need something to blame it on rather than yourselves and your bankrupt ideology, raging hypocrisy, and false piety.

    Fuck you all.

Strowbridge ends your “argument”, btw. All we heard on the news for what, 2 months?, was about Rev. Wright and his hatred for the white man. Why did Obama sit in the congregation of this obvious monster, Rev. Wright? Does Obama hate whites too? Is Obama a radical Black Panther covert operative? Etc., etc., etc.

You guys are just too priceless. Go sit on a parking cone.

  32. Matthew Hooper says:

What exactly do you mean by “a good vetting”?

Were his political positions in doubt? Unlike GWB, he had a senate voting record. Was there something insufficient written about him in the multiple biographies? Were they too hard? Would you prefer the comic book version?

Was there something in the multiple debates with Hillary that wasn’t covered? He had many more debates than McCain. In fact, he got much more media coverage than McCain, period.

Do you really believe that, if the media had found dirt on him, they would have suppressed it? Perhaps you’re unfamiliar with Gary Hart? Has it occurred to you that if a journalist broke some dirt on Obama, it would make their career, a la Woodward and Bernstein?

If you are really willing to believe that there is a Massive Media Conspiracy regarding Obama, can you prove to me that Obama, in fact, exists? Seeing as all of the information you do have about Obama comes from said media?

  33. “Amused Observer”: “Are you guys seriously claiming that Obama was given a good vetting by an adversarial media? Just checking.”

Obama was better vetted than Republican John McCain.

    Seriously.

And I was something of a McCain fan right up through the beginning of 2007.

That’s when I started giving John McCain’s record a really careful lookover.

Republican John McCain didn’t know anything about military strategy and yet his “prisoner of war” status was supposed to trump his serial failures as a military man.

Strategically, McCain didn’t know the difference between Sunni and Shia, didn’t know who was in charge of Iran, thought we could “muddle through in Afghanistan”, and was even accusing Iraq of the anthrax attacks in 2001.

Tactically, McCain should never have been a pilot, was only promoted because of his families military connections, McCain repeatedly put his fellow troops in jeopardy, and was eventually captured because his family connections had improperly kept him flying even after repeated crashes that were clearly his fault and should have grounded him.

Domestically McCain was and still is an ethical failure.

And yet the media loved McCain’s storytelling.

And boy, could McCain spin a story.

The corporate media sycophantically fluffed up his military career and glossed over how he traded in his wife and her children for a younger, richer, better looking woman.

McCain used his new wife’s daddy’s money to become a politician and then got caught doing political favors for a crook that his wife was doing business with.

After McCain was caught being crooked McCain pretended to turn a new leaf and made a lot of noise about how suddenly ethical he was. And yet his entire campaign was run by lobbyists, many of them connected with sleazy foreign countries and dictators.

Some of those sleazy lobbyists worked through McCain’s corporate front group, his “Reform Institute”. McCain’s “Reform Institute” was/is about as corrupt as you can get. The guy who was running it for McCain was simultaneously doing lobbyist favors for a purported Russian mobster, amongst other unsavory corporate characters. And the fraudulent and now bankrupt AIG was one of McCain’s “Reform Institute’s” biggest backers.

Everything about McCain is and always was a fraud.

There was a list of things that McCain conned me with. Things I mistakenly respected him for until I watched him repudiate everything that he’d suckered me into believing about him.

Republican McCain made noise about torture and then legalized torture’s use at the discretion of the President. Republican McCain made noise about religious fanatics being “agents of intolerance” and then sucked up to those same fanatical “agents of intolerance”.

Some of the most absurd moments of “media” failing was having McCain’s campaign hucksters absurdly looking straight into the TV cameras and claim that there weren’t any lobbyists on McCain’s campaign.

Republican McCain’s entire Presidential campaign was controlled and run by lobbyists, many foreign paid lobbyists, and yet the media let McCain and his spokespeople flat out lie.

McCain is a bald faced liar and yet Republican McCain got a free pass by a complacent, complicit, sycophantic media.

Obama got the equivalent of a media enema.

EVERYTHING about Obama was gone over by the media with a fine tooth comb.

In the meantime the “media” was taking flowers to McCain’s family and making special deliveries of coffee and donuts (with sprinkles!) to McCain.

It must be because of the ultra-tough name he game himself.

Are you guys seriously claiming that Obama was given a good vetting by an adversarial media?

Yeah, the 24-hour news cycle, near infinite cable news channels and the Internets really failed us there. If only they’d reported that birth certificate story! Oh well, I’m sure hyper-intelligent Sarah Palin will save you. Heh.
