Usain Bolt, 150 Meters Like Lightning
Tweet
An unofficial record, but it’s amazing how fast Bolt is, especially when he glides ahead of the rest of the field. Yes, I have to note – Big Up Jamaica.

*Insert you need to run that fast in Manchester to avoid being mugged joke here*
I don’t know the protocols involved, but why didn’t this guy get drafted by any NFL teams?
Mugged? Manchester. Well, maybe, but he was at City Centre – not Moss Side
Dude, I can run faster than that. I just don’t want to.
And just like Star Trek, the anonymous red shirts are only there to be killed.
Jeebus, how TALL is that guy?! That’s gotta have something to do with it.
I don’t know the protocols involved, but why didn’t this guy get drafted by any NFL teams?
This reminds me of Howard Cosell’s “what a field goal kicker Pele would have been!”
I mean, really, why wouldn’t someone give up their place as the greatest ever in their (worldwide) sport so they can be mediocre at a sport that mainly exists in the U.S.? What are they, Commies?
Well, for one, Bolt could make way more in the NFL than at almost any international sport. So for a soccer player you could be a great FIFA/World Cup player, or there’s the chance of being just an okay NFL kicker making several dumpster trucks full of cash. (Not that intl soccer players don’t make money, but NFL cash is pretty sweet).
While I agree that there’s not much cause for (American) football chauvinism, star wide receivers make a lot more money than star sprinters. Not that there aren’t other factors to consider, of course.
He could always run until he’s pretty sure he’d notched the most lasting records possible and then get on the NFL gravy train (assuming he wants to wear pads and get tackled constantly). He’s tall, too, so if he could catch at all he’d be pretty devastating.
Oliver. You need to ‘bone-up’ on soccer money.
With the NFL salary cap, NFL contracts don’t even come close.
Also, soccer players are not limited by 1 team 1 season.
Some elementary googling I see Beckham with a 28 million contract and Ben Roethlisberger with a 27 million deal. And I also wonder if a role player soccer guy makes the $285k NFL minimum. Not to mention endorsement money.
Oliver, the difference in $$$ between the NFL and international soccer is not even close. It’s not even in the same universe.
The skill set is entirely different. Al Davis has made a habit of drafting track stars with disastrous results.
Jerry Rice and Larry Fitzgerald both ran about 4.6 40s. I watch a hell of a lot of NFL and I can’t remember the name of even one of the various track athletes they’ve worked out.
The payrolls for teams like Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man. Utd., Barca, are on a par with the NFL or MLB.
They make loads of cash.
I was there! It’s a shame Jamaica didn’t do so well further up north in Durham (pronounced durrum), when they lost at cricket yesterday, and badly. Got my ticket for the 1 day game coming up; that’ll be better!
Yeah, running 150m in a straight line aint exactly the same when you have 200-300 pound linemen and linebackers in the way.
Jamaicans are the sports oddballs of the Caribbean. They’ll take cricket over baseball any day. Not to mention soccer over football. And Bolt’s a physical freak – he’s way tall for a short distance sprinter.
