What’s a good portion? You have the pro-business side that supports that, but you have others that have used the Swine Flu, which originated in the United States, to attack all Mexicans.

A good portion would be the former President of the United States as well as the Republican Presidential nominee last year. It's a little absurd to claim the GOP is using such a strategy when John McCain ran on a platform support amnesty for illegals. Exactly who was he attempting to scare to the polls with that position?

And what "others"? Name names. If you're talking about the "GOP leadership" here it should be pretty easy.

On a side note, just because there is a fracture in the party, doesn’t mean the Southern Strategy isn’t still being used. I think using the Southern Strategy is a losing strategy, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

It doesn't exist and you've thus failed to prove that the GOP engages in such 'strategy' with regard to immigration. You're taking examples outside of the mainstream and attempting to make it part of the overall GOP policy and that's wrong.

Did you not see the Spanish language debate? Some of the presidential candidates refused to attend.

Actually, the only candidate that didn't attend was Tom Tancredo. There was an earlier one they had to reschedule but there's nothing to suggest it was because they were "freaking out" over speaking Spanish and Cinco de Mayo. They also almost had to reschedule the Democratic debate because they had to wait for last minute commitments from Democrats like John Edwards, Hillary Clinton and yes, Barack Obama.

Rush, for instance, is one of the leaders of the GOP. He might not be an elected official, but he is a leader. The actions of Michael Steele and others prove that.

No. Sorry. This doesn't wash. If you want to do the whole "de facto" leader thing, go right ahead, but this is a fact: Rush Limbaugh is radio talk show host. He does not dictate policy. He does not run campaigns. He does not map out strategy. He does not determine where money is spent. If he was the leader of the party as you say, John McCain wouldn't have supported amnesty as part of his campaign last year.

YOU said the "GOP leadership" is still engaging in using a form of the "southern strategy." The problem is, "The GOP leadership" seems to be whoever you want it to be in order to prove you're right. But you haven't. Again, you take more extreme examples like Tom Tancredo or some dope who blamed Mexicans for swine flu and are attempting to put that stereotype in as the mainstream to show that the GOP is employing some form of the "southern strategy." It's absurd.

Oh, and back on that thread, Strowbridge (now that you've brought it back up), any more thoughts on denying gun ownership to blind people? I cited two examples there where legally blind people used guns to protect themselves. Why do you hate blind people, Strowbridge? Don't they have enough problems without you demanding they also be victims to thugs?

Speaking of missing the point, Strowbridge, I finally noticed that you'd dropped my name earlier when you quoted me:

Thanks for refraining from the personal insults, Strowbridge. It’s a refreshing change for you.

For the clue-impaired (that includes you, Strowbridge), that was SARCASM. In the comment immediately preceding that one, you said this:

Considering how stupid you are, you really shouldn’t make claims like that.

You actually portrayed my sarcasm as sincere. Which is quite enlightening, because later in that same thread, you quoted that line of mine and replied with:

If you don’t act like a fucking idiot, I won’t call you a fucking idiot.

So, either you changed your mind since then about whether or not you detected sarcasm, or you're rewriting the events and taking my comment out of context to prove your point. And as you've shown you're constitutionally incapable of changing your mind, it's just more evidence that you're (grasping for my English-Vulgarian Dictionary that I keep on hand for when I need to address Strowbridge in his native tongue)... um... hang on...

You're a fucking scumbag liar asswipe who need to shut his fucking lying piehole for being a fucking scumbag liar asswipe repeatedly in public.

(Sorry about the repetition; I got the bargain bin edition of the dictionary, and BabelFish doesn't do English-Vulgarian.)

J.G.Thayer: "It doesn’t matter where H1N1 ('Swine Flu' is SO gauche, Strowbridge — get with the program!) originated, Strowbridge. The CURRENT outbreak started in Mexico."

Two point...

1.) Way to miss the point. People are using Swine Flu to attack Mexicans. These people are certainly the embodiment of the Southern Strategy.

2.) It does matter where it originated, especially if you use it to attack people. It went from the States, to a farm in Mexico that is half owned by Americans, to tourists, who returned from Mexico and spread it to a lot of other countries. Blaming Mexico for the spread is hardly apt, as the CURRENT outbreak has American origins.

Now, it's pretty much too late -- that gato is long out of the bolso. If you're gonna quarantine, you gotta do it quick these days.

Jay Caruso: "I disagreed with your (incorrect) viewpoint that the tea parties were specifically 'designed to attack Obama' and you whipped out the 'fucking stupid' nonsense."

Okay, I think we can we can have common ground here. The teaparties were designed, in part, to attack the Obama administration.

Is that better?

Me: "I’m talking about the GOP Leadership. The Southern Strategy is about the GOP Leadership, because it is a political tool."

Jay Caruso: "Ok, well how could that be possible when a good portion of the GOP leadership supports amnesty programs for illegal immigrants?"

What's a good portion? You have the pro-business side that supports that, but you have others that have used the Swine Flu, which originated in the United States, to attack all Mexicans.

On a side note, just because there is a fracture in the party, doesn't mean the Southern Strategy isn't still being used. I think using the Southern Strategy is a losing strategy, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Me: "The Immigration debate is not about the rule of law, otherwise they wouldn’t freak out about people speaking Spanish and celebrating Cinco de Mayo."

Jay Caruso: "And where exactly is the GOP leadership freaking out about people speaking Spanish and celebrating Cinco de Mayo?"

Did you not see the Spanish language debate? Some of the presidential candidates refused to attend.

Me: "You wouldn’t have conservative talk show hosts complaining about the changing demographics hurting the country."

Jay Caruso: "Wait a minute. I thought you were talking about the GOP leadership? Now you’re talking about conservative talk show hosts."

Which is why they happened under the Bush administration, right? Oh that’s right, they didn’t.

It was culmination of the TARP legislation (which came out in late 2008) and the ass-backwards named "Recovery Act" which has not contributed to any recovery and is exactly what everybody said it was: An $800 billion pork infested boondoggle. That they didn't happen while Bush was President does not support your argument that they were "designed to attack Obama."

Yeah, I saw a lot of signs attacking Obama, but not many attacking the Republicans. In fact, I saw a clip of someone who said they should blame Bush for his part in creating this mess, and he was booed.

"Not many"? I thought they were "designed to attack Obama." If so, no Republicans would be the subject of scorn. Gresham Barrett would not have booed off the stage at a tea party in South Carolina. He voted for TARP.

Your contention that the tea parties were "designed to attack Obama" is just wrong. Deal with it.

Like I’ve explained in the past, if you guys come up with logical arguments, I will respond with logical arguments.

If you act like fucking morons, I will call you fucking morons.

That's the problem though. You disagree with somebody and you call them "fucking morons." I disagreed with your (incorrect) viewpoint that the tea parties were specifically "designed to attack Obama" and you whipped out the "fucking stupid" nonsense. You made a claim and then took out your "fucking stupid" attack before I had even said anything. So stop lying and saying you only do it when somebody doesn't say something "logical" because that's just horseshit.

> Er, it wasn’t the purpose of the tea parties to damage Barack

Oh you're just *adorable*.

Er, it wasn't the purpose of the tea parties to damage Barack Obama politically. It was to stop higher taxing and spending.

Rasmussen just found that Republicans are again in the lead on tax and spending issues, although that wasn't really an aim of the tea parties either.

Me: "You don’t think the Tea Parties were designed to attack Obama?
Are you truly this fucking stupid?"

Jay Caruso: "See what I mean? The tea parties were about attacking higher taxes and wasteful spending."

Which is why they happened under the Bush administration, right? Oh that's right, they didn't.

Oh, and by the way. Obama lowered your taxes.

"Other Democrats, and the GOP were protested against as well."

Yeah, I saw a lot of signs attacking Obama, but not many attacking the Republicans. In fact, I saw a clip of someone who said they should blame Bush for his part in creating this mess, and he was booed.

And saying, 'Other Democrats were protested against as well!' is splitting hairs.

"So the only person that is FUCKING STUPID is the person believes they were 'designed to attack Obama.'”

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

You probably think Fox News was only covering the Tea Parties, and not promoting them.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Me: "That’s cute. Act like a fucking retard, then whine when I call you one."

Jay Caruso: "Oh I’m not whining CS."

Oh, you're whining.

"The first time you present a reasonable, rational, and insult free argument about something would be the first time."

This is a lie.

"Thanks for refraining from the personal insults, Strowbridge. It’s a refreshing change for you."

Even J.G.Thayer wouldn't say it was the first time.

"Nobody here could deny that the only thing you do is engage in flaming once you cannot support your POV."

Like I've explained in the past, if you guys come up with logical arguments, I will respond with logical arguments.

If you act like fucking morons, I will call you fucking morons.

"Let’s take a look at your silly contention that the GOP position on immigration is another version of the “southern strategy.” The only way your accusation would have any merit is only some small sub-section of the American populace agreed with their position and they used it to win in those areas. Fact is, the majority of Americans share the overall GOP view on illegal immigration (checking pollingreport.com)"

See, this is where you act like a fucking moron.

I'm talking about the GOP Leadership. The Southern Strategy is about the GOP Leadership, because it is a political tool. Talking about the opinion of the average American is meaningless when it comes to what the GOP Leadership is doing.

The Immigration debate is not about the rule of law, otherwise they wouldn't freak out about people speaking Spanish and celebrating Cinco de Mayo. You wouldn't have conservative talk show hosts complaining about the changing demographics hurting the country. The 'White Christian power base' being under attack.

This had nothing to do with illegal immigration, and everything to do with stirring up hatred of brown people to win votes.

"Now, you could respond with something that backs up your assertion."

Done.

"In your warped little brain, you believe you’re right so your opinion is a “fact” and anybody that doesn’t agree with you is a fucking fuckhead fucker retard fuck."

Not true. I can disagree with people and not think they are stupid. However, when someone says something stupid, I feel no reason to not call them stupid.

Dude, Rush Limbaugh is runs the modern GOP.

Ed see this single apostrophe?

'

That's about how big your brain is. Keep it up.

You don’t think the Tea Parties were designed to attack Obama?

Are you truly this fucking stupid?

See what I mean? The tea parties were about attacking higher taxes and wasteful spending. Other Democrats, and the GOP were protested against as well. So the only person that is FUCKING STUPID is the person believes they were "designed to attack Obama."

That’s cute. Act like a fucking retard, then whine when I call you one.

Oh I'm not whining CS. You're inner child comes running out when you get confronted with your own nonsense. You're like that Jadegold character that used to hang around here. A hack psychologist like Lucy from the Charlie Brown comics could see you have issues. Why else would you feel the need to constantly do what you do? And please, don't try to project your issues back on those you attack by trying to justify it.

You provide weak arguments to justify your points of view and then when confronted about it, launch into freak out mode. You're forever citing your opinion as "fact." The first time you present a reasonable, rational, and insult free argument about something would be the first time. Nobody here could deny that the only thing you do is engage in flaming once you cannot support your POV. Fact is, the majority of Americans share the overall GOP view on illegal immigration (checking pollingreport.com)

I say 'overall' because while the media gives attention to loudmouths like Tom Tancredo whose views are more extreme, there are differing views on issues within immigration like amnesty and what to do about the border throughout the party. As such, because there is no one overall solution being proposed, comparing the now defunct southern strategy to the GOP policy on illegal immigration is ludicrous.

Now, you could respond with something that backs up your assertion. You could cite facts. You point me to several links, etc.

But I suspect you won't. In your warped little brain, you believe you're right so your opinion is a "fact" and anybody that doesn't agree with you is a fucking fuckhead fucker retard fuck.

They weren’t about trying to get the President’s approval ratings down.

Were they trying to defeat the president's stimulus package or the omnibus budget bill? Because both of those passed, as well.

Insofar as they had a goal, the goal was to help a bunch of isolated fringe goofs feel less lonely in this world.

When I think of the tea-baggers, I picture Eric Cartman having an imaginary tea party with Clyde Frog and Ms. Prissy-pants.

So do the rest of the American people.

Maybe he doesn't think Rush Limbaugh is racist.

"Sit in on a South Carolina Republican meeting (assuming you’re not a person of color). Or better yet, just peruse the many, many Youtube videos documenting the Sarah Palin rallies. Then get back to us. Mm-kay?"

I know why they are so desperate to pretend the GOP isn't racist, but they should really try harder.

Me: "The Southern Strategy is alive and well."

Jay Caruso: "No it isn’t jackass."

You don't think the 'Illegal Immigration' debate is just a continuation of The Southern Strategy? Did you see the overt racism at GOP rallies?

Me: "This makes no logical sense."

Jay Caruso: "Actually, what makes no logical sense is attempting to tie the tea parties to Obama’s approval ratings."

... Huh?

You don't think the Tea Parties were designed to attack Obama?

Are you truly this fucking stupid?

"And Dennis, clearly you got under CS’s thin skin because that’s when the F-bombs and “You’re stupid” comments make their appearance."

That's cute. Act like a fucking retard, then whine when I call you one.

Well, guess what? You guys are fucking retards. That's why you guys lost in 2006. That's why you lost in 2008. And if you don't chance, it will be the reason you lose in 2010. And in 2012 (Palin / Whoever!)

"Douchetastic cretins like CS who have serious self-esteem issues are prone to doing such things."

Scoreboard.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

You guys are losers, and you are determined to stay that way.

I can give you good advice and warn you of danger, and you will do the opposite. It's awesome!

"One month after the tea parties and you guys are still talking about them. Sooner or later, the same tired defense of ‘hey, it’s fun!’ starts to sound a little bit manufactured."

In the same vein...after 6 months and an asswhooping during the election, you goddamn Reich-Wingers are still whining about ACORN. I'll take a ounce of that manufactured boogyman that should go down well with a swallow of irrelevancy.

Me: "It’s like you are deranged and simple need something to complain about."

Dennis the Bigot: "You mean I should pick out one single outdated issue like the southern strategy and rail about it endlessly, Strowbridge?"

Outdated? Outdated!?! The Southern Strategy is alive and well. You don't need to go any further than AO's railing against 'brown people destroying American culture' to see that.

Ummm... Tea Party 2.0 happened... yesterday.

Perhaps if you weren't so fucking stupid, you wouldn't make an ass out of yourself so often.

Now please, run away like the fucking coward you are and pretend I didn't kick your ass, again.
