I don’t watch the show. After reading all this I remember why not.

The whole thing seems very “WTF?” indeed.

Thanks, DannyC. During the show I was trying to think of what the Biblical reference to Jacob was. My expertise in that area is lacking. Since he doesn’t have a last name, I knew he couldn’t be another philosopher. Any ideas on how Richard Alpert being Ram Das’ real name may explain Richard’s character?

I don’t think Jacob’s been in that cabin for a very long time, although it was once his. Ilana said “somebody else” has been “using it”–I’m guessing the Man in Black had been trapped.

The point being, we’ve never met Jacob. Ever. He lives in the statue. The cabin is where Jacob’s adversary has always been, pretending, sort of, to be Jacob.

And Richard is too mysterious for the sake of being mysterious, which for a show like Lost is hard for someone to stick out for that reason.

As soon as I saw Frank’s reaction, I knew that box had a body; just didn’t know whether it was Locke’s or Desmond’s.

The creators did confirm that out of all of the characters, the dog will defintely survive. So the lesson is: stay near Vincent and you live. Now that I think about it: a Vincent-themed flashback would be interesting.

I would still like to know where Claire went. The show’s starting to run out of female characters.

Oh, right. In the scene with the two Lockes, where John sends Richard to get the bullet out of his leg. Thanks, I didn’t make that connection. I’m now wondering if that scene in the cabin, where Jacob said “Help me” was Jacob and the other guy – in some invisible form – fighting?

Richard told John that he’d have to die to bring everyone back. If Richard knew that, isn’t he probably somehow in on the other dark-haired guy’s plot to find a loophole?

Except Richard didn’t know that–or even know to say that–until he’d been fed the line by False Locke.

I think Jacob’s adversary has been stuck inside Locke since the first time he and Ben visited the cabin–a prison, of sorts–but was unable to control Locke until Locke actually died.

Indeed. It was a nice meta “Get a life!” moment a la Shatner on SNL, lo these many years ago.
