Leonard Nimoy tells a wonderful story from the days of the original series. He was stopped at a red light when a woman pulled up next to him and flashed him the Vulcan salute. He returned it, then asked if she could do it with her other hand. She held up a horrible version of it, and said “I speak it with an accent.”

BTW, Nimoy invented that salute. It’s from a Jewish blessing that the Rabbi performs while the congregation has their eyes covered. Nimoy, being a curious boy at the time, peeked…

They both are getting it wrong. Klum’s is too outstretched, and it looks like Panettiere is keeping her thumb too tucked in, not stretched out.

And for Panettiere, there’s no freaking excuse. She’s on a TV show with the new Spock, for Gene’s sake.
