It is strange to see 1) a person take such a strong stance on an issue and 2) in the following breath proclaim aloud that they have no idea what they are talking about.

It is actually a nice shorthand. Now I know I don’t need to take this pundit (Hindraker) seriously.

To be fair to Bush 41, I think he said something like he wanted AmericANS to be more like the Waltons and less like the Simpsons, not that he wanted America the country to be in the condition that it was at the time the former TV show was taking place.

The USPS would put Ted Bundy on a stamp if it would sell merchandise. Sure, I was proud to see MLK and Ella Fitzgerald and Georgia O’Keeffe and Stuart Davis stamps, but it’s all about sales.

They’re closing the P.O. nearest me because they can’t make the rent. I’m in favor of any capitalistic ploy our dear quasi-public instutution cares to try.

Does this guy know how much America’s values and culture are furthered by cultural products like the Simpsons?

This american family has been in hundreds of millions of living rooms all over the world, for twenty years. If it weren’t for the Simpsons and other cultural exports, the US would mostly be known for I don’t know, say, invasions and bombings of innocent civilians?
