justadood: …unless one considers maybe returning LA and points south to Mexico. Now there’s an idea….

Yes! Give Orange County to Mexico. That should be an interesting show.

As a californian, I don't see a failed state, but conversely, I think there is already something of a Whitman State... Between the Governator and the legislature, they're trying to do too much with too little. They need to get together on a solution: either tax more to do more government services, OR cut back on services to align the budget to the revenues/income.

No other ways about it...either pull in more to pay for more. or cut back until the balance is reset. Doesn't matter how politicians pretty up the verbiage: this will be the only workable solution.

Only issue I see with the EBay comparison is: CA doesn't have a Stumbleupon or Skype to sell off/spin off to return to profitability.....

So let me get this straight. A state with an economy that is larger than most other COUNTRIES in the world is now a failed state. Fer chrissakes, get real.

randy: Do some research bright guy.

Typical. Someone makes a claim and they figure it's the responsibility of those who disagree with them to find the support for it.

Nope.

The state, prison, and teacher unions are very powerful as well. ... The state is bankrupt. What else do you need to know?

So California "failure" is determined based on economic status. Social policy, etc don't figure in it. OK, at least that's a bit easier to measure then a claim that "it failed because it passed "liberal" laws".

So, by that standard, South Carolina (Repub gov and legislature, state not solvent), Indiana (Repub gov and Senate, not solvent) Missouri (Dem gov, Repub legislature, verging on insolvency) and Idaho (Repub gov and legislature, verging) are failed Republic states.

"with its Republican government"

Do some research bright guy. I lived in California for the last 45 years (just moved to Pa.). The democrats control everything in Sacramento except the governors mansion. They have for more than 20 years. The state, prison, and teacher unions are very powerful as well. It's a failed democrat state.

"Can you actually back up you claim with facts"

william: "There’s no fixing California, the failed democrat state."

Yep. California, with its Republican government, is a democrat (sic) state.

Take your right-wing talking points and fuck off.

You really think they will fly here?
