Bill O’Reilly’s do-boy, Jesse Waters, and a bunch of other conservatives upset they had their rear ends handed to them in the election, decided to bring their garbage to GE’s shareholder meeting. What’s intriguing is that conservatives insist that the ratings for Olbermann, Maddow and the rest of MSNBCs lineup are abysmal… and yet it drives them insane that these shows have an audience besides the drooling morons who believe everything on Fox.
One specific complaint about MSNBC concerned Keith Olbermann’s interview of actress Janeane Garofalo, who likened conservatives to racists and spoke of “the limbic brain inside a right-winger.”
“They were upset that Olbermann didn’t bother to challenge her,” one GE shareholder said.
Immelt said he takes a hands-off approach to what is reported on the company’s news networks, which prompted a shareholder to criticize him for not managing NBC Uni effectively.
“My biggest surprise was the open hostility to MSNBC,” another shareholder said. “It was noticeable and loud. I don’t remember any of this going on last year.”
One shareholder at the Orlando, Fla., meeting was Jesse Waters, a producer of “The O’Reilly Factor.” Waters asked a question at the meeting, then turned on the Fox News Channel cameras outside the venue and interviewed other shareholders who attended the meeting.
They are really having a meltdown on the right.
And you can’t claim it’s the fringe, because Bill O’Reilly is as mainstream as it gets.
But it is OK to protest in front of the homes of AIG
ooooookkkkkkk, I smell some hypocrisy
“I hope Bill leaves Maureen for me. Look at all that I do for him”-Jesse Watters
You would be crying too if you were a shareholder in GE and watched the CEO drive the company into the ground. It is clear that Immelt and Zucker are much more concerned about politics than business. When the shareholders are losing money, it is entirely reasonable that they would rail against the questionable practices of GE/MSNBC. Of course, it won’t do any good. Immelt has been such an abject failure that he needs the big time political cover from the White House. So, he will be Obama’s mouthpiece and Obama will do whatever is necessary (bailout, green projects, etc) to keep serious debate of his policies at bay.
Thanks for reading. You can now continue with the mindless knee-jerk liberal nonsense typically on this blog.
I’m a Disney shareholder, and it never occurred to me to crash the shareholder’s meeting to complain because John Stossel said something dumb on ABC.
I’m curious where Mr. Willis has his info that all of the people who asked questions about MSNBC’s coverage were “right wingers”? The only person who is named in the linked story is Jesse Walters, but the story mentions 10 people and only names one. Is there some other story which names who the other shareholders were? Or is Mr. Willis making a huge, baseless assumption about the motivation of the GE shareholders?
So FOX is going after MSNBC by effectively giving press coverage to MSNBC?
Nobody has ever said Republicans were very bright.
Typical. Will Jesse be chasing other GE shareholders across state lines and ruining their weekends—-again? Jesse’s such an adroit little toady stalker . . . . .
I’m curious if any shareholders ever spoke up about having to pay off Bill O’Reilly’s sexual harassment suits?
“Whining right babies”
Ahhh, yes… more tolerance from the left.
Evidently, Jesse Waters is a GE shareholder. As such, it’s entirely within his right to question GE’s business practices and stock free-fall. (MS)NBC is bleeding money. GE’s market cap has evaporated under Jeff Immelt’s watch and stockholders are concerned.
Look, I own GE stock. Since Jack Welch left, the stock has effectively tanked. When your ship is sinking, a “hands off approach” is completely unacceptable.
With regards to MSNBC, you could basically fit all of Keith Olbermann’s audience into one of those photo booths you find at the beach, so I have no idea why anyone would even care about an unhinged network talking head like Olbermann and MSNBC……..UNLESS YOU’RE INVESTED IN GE AND YOU’RE LOSING MONEY.
I don’t mind the form of the action. I just think it’s amusing that they can so gallantly cheer on the pure, unadulterated Republo-partisanship of FOXNOOZ and then freak out because one network lets the liberals out of the cage for a couple hours a day.
conservatives insist that the ratings for Olbermann, Maddow and the rest of MSNBCs lineup are abysmal
It’s not just conservatives.
Is it just me or does that baby look like either (SCJ) John Roberts or Lindsay Graham?
I’m a Disney shareholder, and it never occurred to me to crash the shareholder’s meeting to complain because John Stossel said something dumb on ABC.
Well, there you go. Now you have something to look forward to.
Seriously, bitching about something Janeanne Garafalo said on Countdown? That’s it? But Beck and Hannity running graphics of the third reich in relation to Obama is okey-dokey?
I’m a Disney shareholder
If I were a disney shareholder, the first thing I would bring up at a shareholder meeting is Disney’s overdependence of “talking animal friends” in their movies.
Farris, MSNBC’s experiment with conservative programming was an unmitigated ratings disaster. Rachael Maddow beats Larry King in the ratings, apparently.
I am a GE shareholder and I am disgusted in Immelt and GE’s obvious left wing leanings. If Immelt is not replaced and their media holdings returned to reporting the news instead of being hitmen for Obama, I will sell my GE stock and boycot all their brands. Immelt has destroyed the company and hurt everyone who owns stock and depends on dividends for income. Check your mutual funds and retirement accounts – almost everyone owns stock in GE and it’s worth little.
It’s not just conservatives. SaveFarris
Amazing, SaveFarris. Nancy Grace gets as many viewers as left-wing loon hero and Truth-to-Power speaker Keith Olbermann.
Okay, so if the ratings are so horrible, why does what Olbermann say matter so much to you guys? Seriously. According to you, nobody is watching.
And yet Olbermann and Maddow drive you all insane.
We only mention them because they are so hilarious and it’s fun to mock them, Oliver.
It’s really a shame there as so many drooling liberal morons who believe everything Olbermann, Matthews, Madcow and ED says.
Wanna guess how many times I’ve read a liberal commenter say “Oh, how I loves me some Keith Olbermann”?
Or, “Last night’s Special Comment was his BEST ONE EVER!”
Funny, yet pathetically sad.
We only mention them because they are so hilarious and it’s fun to mock them, Oliver.
And now you know why we bring up Limbaugh and Beck so often.
And now you know why we bring up Limbaugh and Beck so often. Duros
I’m imitating you and a few other of the intellectually dishonest among you when I say that, Duros.
Oh I get it. Hee hee, Denny made a funny.
Intellectually dishonest. Feh.
The can go fuck themselves.
Wow! Leftists defending GE. I never thought I would see the day. The world has turned upside down. I guess that’s what happens when you set up a left-wing propaganda operation. The network of Huntley and Brinkley has become the network of Olbermann and Maddow.
Pssst!! Lefties – GE is a major defense contractor. Pass it on.
I owned GE stock from 1988 until recently. I wrote to Investor Relations twice to voice my displeasure with the state of NBC News. Finally, I just sold the stock. Apparently the rest of GE is in the same state as NBC News because the value of the stock is down an incredible amount since Immelt took over from Jack Welch. Immelt and his butt-boy Zucker should be fired immediately.
“…would rail against the questionable practices of GE/MSNBC.”
And those “questionable practices” are?
“…Obama will do whatever is necessary (bailout, green projects, etc.) to keep serious debate of his policies at bay.”
How do those two things you mentioned “keep serious debate” of Obama’s policies “at bay?”
“Wow! Leftists defending GE!”
Well, if the company has pissed off Bill O’Lielly’s stalker-producer, then it must be doing SOMETHING right.
“The network of Huntley and Brinkley has become the network of Olbermann and Maddow.”
Olbermann and Maddow certainly have their flaws, but they are certainly closer to Huntley and Brinkley, by about a million miles, than Bill O’Lielly and Glenn Beck.
By the way, the criticism of Olbermann with regard to his non-reaction to Garolfalo’s (admitedly over-the-top) statement is amusing, considering that Bill O’Reilly didn’t react to guest Ann Coulter saying that liberals were “Nazi block watchers.”
