    This is news?

  3. Parthenon says:

In the words of Instacrazy: Ouch.

  4. Duros62 says:

    Dear Right wing media outlets,

I mean this in all sincerity.

    SHUT

    UP.

    Thank you.

  5. Dennis says:

We just can’t quit you, Glenn.

  6. Crusty Dem says:

And some thought Dennis might’ve taken his ball and run away..

  7. Repack Rider says:

We just can’t quit you, Glenn.

Exactly. What the hell would this guy have to do for you guys to, in your words, “quit” him?

But don’t quit him just because we’re laughing at you and him. Ride that pony until it drops. You’re good at that, and it makes our job of ridiculing the GOP that much easier.

What’s your latest rationale for this guy’s insanity? If you know.

  8. Dennis says:

Can”t answer that one, Repack. I just don’t have that burning desire to watch him every day like you guys do.

But ya know, come to think of it watching you guys here, maybe this guy does have special mind control powers over the feeble-minded.

  9. Repack Rider says:

But ya know, come to think of it watching you guys here, maybe this guy does have special mind control powers over the feeble-minded.

He seems to be keeping you here, so there may be something to that. What is it about us that causes you such an obsession to post here? I’m not saying you should stop, because you provide a window into Bizarro World that explains a lot about the 28% who still like Bush, but at some point your M.O. of embarrassing yourself with every post starts to look like pathology.

Maybe mind control only works on the 28% of the population that you hail from.

  10. Repack Rider says:

    Dennis,

Re: watching Glenn Beck. You seem to think I pay attention to him outside of the few lines I type here, which is one of the early warning signs of megalomania. You should get that checked out.

I have never seen him on TV, because whatever station he is on does not come up on my selection of channels. The great thing about the Internet is that I can be aware of his lunacy, and the lunacy of people like you who obsess about people like me, without having to make any money for Mr. Beck or invest more than a few minutes of my day being amused by your obsession with O-Dub.

So please, obsess away, because I know you can’t help yourself. Counting down to your, “I’m rubber, you’re glue,” comment. Three, two one…

  11. ed says:

The Daily Show and Colbert Report are just gonna get better and better. Mo’ crazy => mo’ funny => mo’ better.

  12. mambochicken23 says:

Dennis, would you like to comment on the video that OW posted? Because it does seem like the height of idiotic madness.

  13. Jaim says:

The economy, and specifically the unemployment rate is at a historical high due to the Bush Recession. This is serious news whether or not you support America or you’re a Republican. Unfortunately we’re going to have more spree killings, and some of them will indeed be prompted by the vile hate that passes for “ideas” on the right these days.

And the nutters will continue to deny everything. Because like many Americans losing their jobs, they’re just as desperate and hopeless. The party of Limbaugh, Steele, and Palin has no future, and they’ve got nothing left to lose.

A perfect storm of a bleak economic outlook and Republican crazy.

  14. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “We just can’t quit you, Glenn.”

    Translation: “Waaahhhh!”

Face it, Glenn Beck is one of the faces of modern conservatism. This is why people on the left watch him, because he has influence over people on the right, and these people are getting dangerous.

  15. Dennis says:

“Face it, Glenn Beck is one of the faces of modern conservatism.”– Southern strategy Strowbridge

Says the Obsession for Men spokesperson.

Face it, Southern Strategy, Glenn Beck is the loony left’s new flavor of the week because the Rush Limbaugh garbage got old a long, long time ago.

They’re trying the shakedown ploy now with liberal advocacy groups to get paid to push their product and this is their new test.

It has to be embarrassing for nutroots bloggers to keep reycling the same old Glenn Beck crap day in and day out, but if it pays the bills, what the heck.

  16. ed says:

Face it, Southern Strategy, Glenn Beck is the loony left’s new flavor of the week because the Rush Limbaugh garbage got old a long, long time ago.

Well Dennis, tell you what. You keep on supporting and defending racist assholes like Rush Limbaugh and self-absorbed crackpots like Glenn Beck, and we Reality-Based will stick with Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert. I forget, why are they bad?

  17. ed says:

Dennis, would you like to comment on the video that OW posted?

    I got this one.

No, he would not, it’s too embarrassing. He would like to change the subject.

  18. Dennis says:

No, he would not, it’s too embarrassing. He would like to change the subject. ed

It’s crap, ed. Media Matters traffics in smears and cherry-picking to make their points in the worst way. It wasn’t worth taking the time to watch the video just to respond to your repeated idiocy. They just threw together a bunch of broken clips to try to justify their lunacy over the last 7 days pushing this canard that isn’t being met with acceptance anywhere else but on the fringe Left. These kinds of videos are what turn you on, ed, but they’re nothing else but red meat for guys like you to chew up and regurgitate to the same people who already agree with everything the left pushes on them anyway.

  19. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “These kinds of videos are what turn you on, ed, but they’re nothing else but red meat for guys like you to chew up and regurgitate to the same people who already agree with everything the left pushes on them anyway.”

    More projection from the king.

Right now there are several arguments among us left wingers about what Obama’s priorities should be. What should he do now. What can be pushed back till later. For instance, should legalizing marijuana be a priority, or would it be a distraction.

Were there the same level of debates on the right when Bush was in power? From my perspective, it seemed the biggest debate was whether the United States should torture people, but call it ‘enhanced interrogation’, or whether the United States should torture people and proudly call it torture.

You would have a hard time finding more than a handful of people who agree on their priorities on the left. On the other hand, there are millions on the right who call themselves ‘Dittoheads.’

  20. Jaim says:

Dennis, do you understand by now why Dems are perfectly happy to shine a light on Comrade Limbaugh and Cryin’ Glenn Beck? It’s because the more independents and moderates see of what “conservatism” has become, the more likely they are to vote Democrat or at least not vote Republican.

You see, it’s called “strategery.” And it’s working like a charm. A person who has reservations about Obama is one thing. A person who sees a Glenn Beck show complete with footage of Nazis and pouring gasoline on someone is a qualitatively different phenomenon. The technical terms is “fucking batshit insane.”

  21. Dennis says:

Jaim, you say the exact same thing every f’ing time you post.

    That’s also “fucking batshit insane’.

  22. ed says:

    what “conservatism” has become

“Conservativsm’s” been like that for years. The Southern Strategy, the Religious Right, Trickle Down Economics, and what have you are nothing new. It’s nice that they finally have the bad name they’ve always deserved though.

  23. ed says:

Jaim, you say the exact same thing every f’ing time you post.

    Waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Dennis says:

The Southern Strategy, the Religious Right, Trickle Down Economics, and what have you are nothing new. ‘–Stuck on Stupid’ Mister ed

I’m not familiar with this term ‘Southern Strategy’, ed. What is that? I’m not sure you’ve ever brought that up before, but then again, you’re known for your originality here.

  25. Parthenon says:

Media Matters traffics in smears and cherry-picking to make their points in the worst way.

I keep hearing this, and I’ve yet to hear or see a solid example.

  26. Parthenon says:

A person who sees a Glenn Beck show complete with footage of Nazis and pouring gasoline on someone is a qualitatively different phenomenon.

Count me among those who would like to hear a sensible conservative’s take on his party’s sudden loss of any interest in courting moderates.

  27. Dennis says:

    Parthy, here’s a link.

What’s the Matter with Media Matters?

Town Hall did an excellent report on their tactics, the pdf file of it can be accessed at that link.

  28. Crusty Dem says:

Yes, Dennis, Town Hall really showed Media Matters. They claim MM relies heavily on personal attacks, then state:
As for Brock, he’s a deeply narcissistic, scandal-plagued former conservative journalist who renounced his beliefs in the 1990s because of imagined conservative intolerance of his homosexuality
    and
With more money than brains, Media Matters
    and
Of late, the paid partisan hacks at Media Matters have concerned themselves with defending Obama’s various socialist
    policy initiatives

None of this is personal at all but merely statements of fact. The article could easily be replaced by just saying “The Jooos are using their money to pay the gaaays to destroy America.” I’m sure in Dennis 404 world, that’s a fair, balanced article, to the reality based, it’s more of an indictment of Town Hall..

  29. Dennis says:

Parthy asked for solid examples of MM’s smears and cherry-picking, Krusty. He didn’t ask for one handed down by King Solomon, and even if he had written it, you’d still pick out the impartialities in it.

Do you deny that Media Matters smears and cherry-picks, Krusty?

  30. fafaroo says:

Do you deny that Media Matters smears and cherry-picks, Krusty?

Dennis, I’m wondering if you deny that Townhall magazine lies to its readership.

In the third paragraph of the article you linked to we find this sentence:

Masquerading as an impartial media watchdog, it is the mission of the leftwing opposition research organization to bully reporters into toeing the liberal line.

Really, Dennis? Media Matters is “masquerading” as an impartial group?

That’s funny because the first paragraph on MMs about page says this:

Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

Dennis, Media Matters states right up front that

    1) it is a progressive organization

    2) its mission to monitor conservative misinformation in the media.

Townhall couldn’t even get to the third paragraph of their article without lying about how Media Matters represents itself.

And you think we should bother reading further?

  31. fafaroo says:

But on reading further one finds this awesome little zig zag:

The group’s Web site, MediaMatters.org, relies heavily on personal attacks, rather than substantive or fact-based
    arguments. It settles scores.

And less than one page later:

As for Brock, he’s a deeply narcissistic, scandal-plagued former conservative journalist who renounced his beliefs in the 1990s because of imagined conservative intolerance of his homosexuality and because the pay and social scene were better on the Left.

What an awesomely substantive, fact-based argument against Media Matters!

  32. fafaroo says:

    And this is fucking priceless:

This raises the obvious question—why is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt? Radio talk-show host Mark Levin slams Media Matters
regularly, calling for its tax-exempt status to be revoked because it engages in partisan activity, which is a strict no-no,
    according to the IRS.

The guy who wrote the Townhall piece, Matthew Vadum, “is a senior editor at Capital Research Center, a Washington, D.C., think tank that studies the politics of philanthropy.”

    The Capital Research Center:
    http://www.capitalresearch.org/

The CRC is “a 501(c)(3) public charity” that:

Capital Research Center (CRC) was established in 1984 to study non-profit organizations, with a special focus on reviving the American traditions of charity, philanthropy, and voluntarism.

Since the launch of the Great Society programs by President Johnson and Congress in the 1960s, many thousands of nonprofit advocacy groups have emerged, often promoting more government welfare programs in areas once considered the domain of families, charities, neighborhood associations, and other voluntary organizations. The growth of government has increasingly supplanted the voluntary action and community-based problem solving that the great observer of early American society, Alexis de Tocqueville, recognized as a defining feature of our country.

Capital Research Center analyzes organizations that promote the growth of government and identifies viable private alternatives to government regulatory and entitlement programs.

Well, there’s certainly nothing partisan about this CRC publication:
    http://www.capitalresearch.org/pubs/pdf/v1236018093.pdf [PDF]

Nowadays when the Left spends other people’s money on big government projects it says that it’s making a public investment. Activists have learned that the way to cloak their goals is to use the language of fi nance and markets to disguise
their use of political power. Hence, left-wing activists identify themselves as business “stakeholders” who will conduct a “social audit” of a corporation.

Thank you Dennis for providing us more evidence of the lying hackery of the Right.

  33. Crusty Dem says:

Do you deny that Media Matters smears and cherry-picks, Krusty?

I wouldn’t deny that anyone cherry-picks. I’m pretty sure everyone on the internet does. Find me one person around who attacks their opponents by saying “XX said ‘(something nuts)’, which sounds like AA but could also mean BB or CC”. It’s human nature to include the part you think is crazy and not include all relevant context to it. It’s pretty much impossible to infallibly know intent from verbage. But you’re attacking MM with a Town Hall article that uses almost every single example they accuse MM of using to distort the truth. I would recommend any partial observer go ahead and compare the “cherry-picking” at MM with the “facts” from Town Hall.

All of which is secondary to the fact that you don’t want to defend this 4:28 of video, a continuous reel without any “cherry-picking” whatsoever. Just 4 1/2 minutes of non-stop insanity. I’m sure no one could watch this and get ideas of violence, it’s just a guy pouring fake gasoline on another guy, lighting a match, and claiming this is what Obama is doing to Americans. No sir, just good clean conservative Fox News fun..

  34. Dennis says:

Really, Dennis? Media Matters is “masquerading” as an impartial group?

Wouldn’t call that a lie, fafaroo. When it comes to being a watchdog for the media, I’d think they’d like to think of themselves as impartial when they level their charges that the media was being unfair or incorrect, yes.

The twit that recently wrote that long article about Ann Coulter falling for an April Fools fake news story by ‘Car and Driver’. You and others made the point that she was only trying to correct conservative misinformation. She cherry-picked one half of one sentence, the antecedent of ‘if Obama can do this, then why can’t…’ and made it the whole matter of her article. No refutation of anything Coulter had said in that sentence, much less the rest of her article. That was cherry- picking with the intent to smear, fafaroo. Under the guise of ‘monitoring conservative misinformation’.

Eric Boehlert wrote a lengthy article highlighting the Pittsburgh police murders that you and I know all about now:

Glenn Beck and the rise of Fox News militia media

When he mentioned the Glenn Beck video that Oliver posted here about Poplawski having posted his interview with Ron Paul, here’s what he said:

People like Richard Poplawski? FYI, weeks before his deadline shooting spree, Poplawski uploaded a video clip of Beck ominously referencing the FEMA camps on Fox News.”

I made a point of it at the time, but there was nothing about that conversation indicting at all to Beck, nothing that would’ve shown Poplawski to get any indication at all that he should go and kill anyone, much less do anything violent. Turns out, Poplawski didn’t think Beck went far enough, and not only that, he didn’t upload it, he linked to it. And there was nothing “ominous” about anything either of those two, Beck or paul, said, whatsoever. They barely discussed FEMA camps. Beck even said “I don’t believe in the FEMA prisons”.

So if I were you, I guess I would say he lied. What he does is distort, cherry pick and smear. Leaves out context, uses cherry-picked quotes to develop a narrative, publishes it, then goes on the cable shows and repeats it all over again.

  35. fafaroo says:

Wouldn’t call that a lie, fafaroo. When it comes to being a watchdog for the media, I’d think they’d like to think of themselves as impartial when they level their charges that the media was being unfair or incorrect, yes.

Unless you or the guy that wrote the Townhall article found something on the Media Matters site in which they state “we are an impartial media watch dog group” it doesn’t really matter what you think Media Matters should be.

Because they are very upfront about what they actually are: a PROGRESSIVE group that monitors CONSERVATIVE misinformation.

To say that Media Matters is trying to pass itself off as “impartial” is just a flat out lie.

Your above comment is simply a rationalization for lying. That’s it. If you’re cool with that, fine, but please don’t go around bitching about media matters “cherry picking” if you’re going to rationalize outright lying.

No refutation of anything Coulter had said in that sentence, much less the rest of her article. That was cherry- picking with the intent to smear, fafaroo. Under the guise of ‘monitoring conservative misinformation’.

And as for this, Dennis, Coulter stated as fact, something which was completely fabricated. If someone had read Coulter’s piece but was unaware of the Car and Driver joke, they would have walked away with misinformation. Correct?

Again, it doesn’t matter what you think Media Matters should have done with the rest of the article, what they actually did was to correct an obvious piece of misinformation in Coulter’s column.

If pointing out that Coulter fell for an April Fool’s Day joke is a “smear” then what the fuck does that make the Car and Driver article in the first place? Afterall, they’re the ones who “set Coulter up for the fall!”

And for crying out loud, Dennis, Coulter and Human Events havn’t even updated the column to correct the statement! http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=31317

Does that sound like responsible journalism to you?

  36. Zython says:

Dennis, we’re not the ones threatening to light people on fire if we don’t get our way. Just sayin’

  37. Dennis says:

Dennis, we’re not the ones threatening to light people on fire if we don’t get our way. Just sayin’ Zython

No, Zython, and we’re not the ones sending death threats to the university faculty that wouldn’t give Obama an honorary degree.

    Just sayin’.

  38. ed says:

No, Zython, and we’re not the ones sending death threats to the university faculty that wouldn’t give Obama an honorary degree.

I sure hope those irresponsible people get their TV and radio shows taken away from them, as Fox and Clear Channel took away Beck’s. Oh, wait…

    …EQUIVALENCE!

  39. Dennis says:

Maybe you’re right, ed. No one should ever be concerned about getting death threats from liberals, because according to you, no liberals ever carry out their death threats. I should call the ASU campus police and tell them there’s nothing to worry about.

Libs should just always be exempted from any felony for making death threats, come to think of it.

  40. ed says:

When did I suggest I was not concerned. I wrote the exact opposite, in fact.

  41. Jesse Ewiak says:

Well, nobody who is a big fan of say, Keith Olbermann has killed cops before.

  42. Dennis says:

Well, nobody who is a big fan of say, Keith Olbermann has killed cops before. Jesse Ewiak

You have no way of knowing that, but what point is that supposed to be making, anyway?

  43. Jaim says:

Dennis, do you ever get tired of being shown to be an idiot?

  44. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Jaim: “Dennis, do you ever get tired of being shown to be an idiot?”

He thinks he’s winning these arguments.

    Scary, isn’t it?

  45. Dennis says:

He thinks he’s winning these arguments. S. Strategy

No one wins these arguments. Even as bruised and beaten down as you’ve been on multiple occasions, CSS, somehow you make it to your corner and live to come back the next day. You have a certain perseverance in that if you were one of the kids I’ve coached over the years in soccer and basketball, I’d have to say was not a bad quality, even if it is wasted on what you do here.

Just a shame you obviously didn’t listen to your high school guidance counselor.

  46. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “He thinks he’s winning these arguments. S. Strategy”

Oh goody. You called me Southern Strategy, so I don’t need to point out how completely racist you are. Thanks, that saves me time.

Dennis the Bigot: “No one wins these arguments.”

No Dennis, you never win this arguments. And you never win, because you are dumb.

Dennis the Bigot: “Just a shame you obviously didn’t listen to your high school guidance counselor.”

    Translation: “Waaahhhh!”

Come back when you have something relevant.

  47. Dennis says:

Oh goody. You called me Southern Strategy, so I don’t need to point out how completely racist you are. Strowbridge

Calling you Southern Strategy has nothing to with being racist for me.

It has to do with you sounding like a parrot when you squawk out those two words on nearly every thread.

    You own those two words.

You likely have a tattoo of those two words on the small of your back.

  48. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “Calling you Southern Strategy has nothing to with being racist for me.”

Every time you call me Southern Strategy, you remind people the GOP is a racist organization.

Or do you believe I made up the Southern Strategy? Do you think the GOP doesn’t use racism to try and win elections? Please tell me you are that stupid.

  49. Dennis says:

Do you think the GOP doesn’t use racism to try and win elections? Southern Strategy-obsessed CSS Strowbridge

I think in the last election racism was far more prevalent and race-baiting was used far more prominently both from the Left than from the Right.

    Far more.

And why don’t you write a book or a blog article or something profound in some way, instead of sounding like a loon and a parrot squawking about it on here every day all day long, CSS.

You might find it cathartic. It would far more healthy, too. It’s not pleasant watching your downward spiral here in real-time.

  50. Repack Rider says:

It’s not pleasant watching your downward spiral here in real-time.

But your obsession with him won’t let you leave. How sick is that?

  51. Dennis says:

I’m trying to help the guy, Repack. My wife teaches ED and LD children and she finds it extremely rewarding. It’s been a project of mine since Lent to do what I can for him.

I hope he heeds my advice.

  52. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “I think in the last election racism was far more prevalent and race-baiting was used far more prominently both from the Left than from the Right.”

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Dennis the Bigot: “I hope he heeds my advice.”

    Projection. Look into it.

You have literally called me out in threads I wasn’t participating in.

You have done the same to Ed and others.

And then you have accused us of being stalkers when we respond.

You have called me mentally ill on a number of occasions, and I really think it is projection.

  53. The Dark Avenger says:

My wife teaches ED and LD children and she finds it extremely rewarding.

So much so, that she married you in order to take her work home with her.

  54. ed says:

    Far more.

Thanks for all those examples. Why don’t you go to Youtube and search “Sara Palin racist” and see what you come up with. But I’m sure the Left was much worse.

  55. Dennis says:

Why don’t you go to Youtube and search “Sara Palin racist” and see what you come up with. ed

Those very well could’ve been closet racists from the Left who went to those rallies pretending to be Sarah Palin supporters, acting that way to draw attention to be on Youtube.

My guess is you are planning to do that this coming week at your closet Tea Party rally. Acting racist likely comes easily to you.

You might be the next Youtube viral phenom, who knows.

  56. Dennis says:

Closest Tea Paarty rally, should’ve been.

  57. ed says:

Those very well could’ve been closet racists from the Left who went to those rallies pretending to be Sarah Palin supporters, acting that way to draw attention to be on Youtube.

Mm-hm. They very well could’ve been. I noticed the rest of the crowd did nothing to silence them. Was everybody an undercover secret fake-Palin supporter lefty? Is this another story the Em-Ess-Em is keeping from us? Are Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck Soros plants to make Dennis look bad? They very well could be!

Thanks again for all those examples!

  58. ed says:

    They very well could’ve been.

I checked out several of the many other videos. Were all of those people plants too? Amazing!

  59. Crusty Dem says:

    Shorter Dennis:

    Occam’s Razor is for suckers.

    Longer Shorter Dennis:

Even when presented with facts disproving my statements, I will blame everything on evil liberal spies! Win!!

  60. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Ed: “Why don’t you go to Youtube and search “Sara Palin racist” and see what you come up with.”

Dennis the Bigot: “Those very well could’ve been closet racists from the Left who went to those rallies pretending to be Sarah Palin supporters, acting that way to draw attention to be on Youtube.”

… And you accuse us of having mental illnesses.

    Good lord.

“My guess is you are planning to do that this coming week at your closet Tea Party rally. Acting racist likely comes easily to you.”

    Wow. Just wow.

You’re denial over GOP racism just hit a new high. Or is that a new low?

  61. ‘It has to be embarrassing for nutroots bloggers to keep reycling the same old Glenn Beck crap day in and day out, but if it pays the bills, what the heck.’

If it’s good enough for the likes of you and Beck, why not?

  62. ‘Those very well could’ve been closet racists from the Left who went to those rallies pretending to be Sarah Palin supporters, acting that way to draw attention to be on Youtube.’

Riiiight…..and let us know when Elvis gets here.

  63. ‘Media Matters traffics in smears and cherry-picking to make their points in the worst way.’

Uh huh; how dare they show the clips of the actual bullshit your heroes spew every single day.

God, you’ve been brainwashed into a whole new realm of stupid.

  64. ed says:

Dennis also, and this is totally true, blamed the racism at the Palin rallies on “a guy with a video camera and a microphone.” I’m not kidding.

  65. C.S.Strowbridge says:

ed: “Dennis also, and this is totally true, blamed the racism at the Palin rallies on “a guy with a video camera and a microphone.” I’m not kidding.”

Well, maybe Dennis the Bigot wouldn’t be racist is people weren’t listening to him. The whole ‘if a tree falls in the forest…’ thing.

    Maybe that’s what he meant.
