Except she’s been saying crazy shit like this since before the previous election. So that’s about half a year now, and I haven’t seen much evidence that her party is trying to distance themselves from her.

And Oliver, I’m aware the Mckinney was defeated; heck, she was pretty much made into a pariah by Nancy Pelosi when she returned to the House after a voter-imposed vacation. I think it’s much more telling to look at how Bachmann gets handled by her own party than what the lady actually says. We know she’s a nut. Nuts get elected to the House with some regularity. It’s how the purportedly sane members of the House treat her that’s more telling.

Again, I’m not arguing the thesis; Glenn Beck is plenty good evidence that the wingers have been throwing gasoline on the fire. I’m just saying that Bachmann’s comments, taken out of a broader context regarding how her party reacts to her, isn’t worth much in terms of proof or analysis.

Cynthia McKinney is nuts, so is that guy that used to say, ‘Beam me up, there’s no intelligent life here.’ However, I don’t think there would be much of a contest between those three on who has used up their share of crazy in the shortest time.

I’m simply trying to point out that there are members of the House of Representatives who have their tinfoil hat firmly planted on their heads, and it shouldn’t be surprising that such creatures exist on both sides of the aisle.

Of course the proof in the pudding would be proven if Bachmann was marginalized in the same manner that McKinney was by her own party. I agree with the underlying theory that the right wing has gone over the bend, but I’m just pointing out that one member of the House does not constitute proof.
