Remember, they’re being responsible participants in our civil dialogue and not pushing conspiracy theories that feed the fevered dreams of their base.

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann says she fears the Obama administration will create “re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums.”

These are the same right wingers who simultaneously believe that public schools both (1) are incapable of teaching our young people and (2) are highly effective indoctrinators of pro-government ideology.

These people are cruising for an ass-whoopin’. America seemed to put up with their crazy right wing militarist bullshit in the 1990s until one of their spawn, Timothy McVeigh, blew up the Oklahoma federal building.

This time these redneck idiots are once again arrogantly presuming that they represent ‘real America,’ and in reality they’re a bunch of isolated, out of power, sore loser right wing white Southerners and Westerners.

And they’re going to throw their weight around a little bit too much and the rest of the country is about to show these assholes where they really fit in.

  2. Marco says:

President Obama should host a screening of Meatballs at the White House just to make Republicans like Bachman shit their pants.

  3. White Whale says:

Ok, if dope for brains Bachman can be a representative than anyone can serve. Me thinks she has a syphilitic brain otherwise her behavior is just unwarranted.

This woman is a menace. Remind me to never drive through that congressional district.

(You plays the hand you’re dealt. Apologies if this is a repeat.)

  6. durablend says:

How does she manage to get out of bed and tie her shoes in the morning? For that matter how does anyone on the right manage to accomplish what would seem to be a monumental task given the lack of anything “upstairs”?

  8. Duros62 says:

And why, oh why do they keep sticking her in front of a live microphone?
She makes Susan Harris look absolutely cerebral.

  9. Down says:

I love her eyes, they have that crazy stare like she has seen ‘the leader’.

I bet she is great fun in the sack.

  10. Duros62 says:

    Number 1, Down, that’s sexist.

    Number 2, eww!

  11. Jody says:

Duros: I agree, but I too am highly curious about the woman’s intimate physical energies. I’d totally hit it just to find out.

    And I’m a gay dude.

  12. LOL! El Cid: “These are the same right wingers who simultaneously believe that public schools both (1) are incapable of teaching our young people and (2) are highly effective indoctrinators of pro-government ideology.”

That line provided an appreciated laugh.

Still, it’s deeply sad that Bachmann represents a very deadly and very sick part of the right wing. It’s exactly her kind of crazy that gets crazy people to go off half-cocked.

In a better world she would feel tremendous shame for her crazy talk. That’s assuming she can feel shame.

Bachmann’s un-Christian beliefs and actions has meant that her constituents are facing “Minnesota’s highest foreclosure rates”.

  13. C.S.Strowbridge says:

On the one hand, how the fuck did this person get re-elected?

On the other hand, she’s a walking billboard for the Democratic party. She’s coming up with more prime quotes than practically everyone else in the legislative branch combined.

  14. Matthew Hooper says:

While I fully agree that the right wing is being extremely irresponsible, I’d like to toss something out there to ponder:

    Michelle Bachman=Cynthia McKinney.

    Just a thought.

  15. ed says:

    Michelle Bachman=Cynthia McKinney.

    Examples, please. Thanks in advance.

  16. Matthew Hooper says:

    Cynthia McKinney – 9/11 troofer.

    Michelle Bachmann – Obmama birther.

I’m simply trying to point out that there are members of the House of Representatives who have their tinfoil hat firmly planted on their heads, and it shouldn’t be surprising that such creatures exist on both sides of the aisle.

Of course the proof in the pudding would be proven if Bachmann was marginalized in the same manner that McKinney was by her own party. I agree with the underlying theory that the right wing has gone over the bend, but I’m just pointing out that one member of the House does not constitute proof.

  17. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Matthew Hooper: “While I fully agree that the right wing is being extremely irresponsible, I’d like to toss something out there to ponder:

Cynthia McKinney is nuts, so is that guy that used to say, ‘Beam me up, there’s no intelligent life here.’ However, I don’t think there would be much of a contest between those three on who has used up their share of crazy in the shortest time.

  18. ed says:

    Cynthia McKinney – 9/11 troofer.

Why do you write “troofer”? (It’s OK, I know why. You are a member of the modern Republican party, after all.)

  19. Matthew Hooper says:

I’m a recovering member. I voted Obama this time around. I’m recovering from the Kool-aid. Be kind.

I’ve seen it spelled “toofer” when mocking the 9/11 conspiracies; it’s not all that odd. Here:

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troofer

And Oliver, I’m aware the Mckinney was defeated; heck, she was pretty much made into a pariah by Nancy Pelosi when she returned to the House after a voter-imposed vacation. I think it’s much more telling to look at how Bachmann gets handled by her own party than what the lady actually says. We know she’s a nut. Nuts get elected to the House with some regularity. It’s how the purportedly sane members of the House treat her that’s more telling.

Again, I’m not arguing the thesis; Glenn Beck is plenty good evidence that the wingers have been throwing gasoline on the fire. I’m just saying that Bachmann’s comments, taken out of a broader context regarding how her party reacts to her, isn’t worth much in terms of proof or analysis.

Well – they keep letting her go on TV as a spokesperson for their party.

That certainly tells me a lot.

Now here’s a guy who’s aware of all internet traditions!

Except she’s been saying crazy shit like this since before the previous election. So that’s about half a year now, and I haven’t seen much evidence that her party is trying to distance themselves from her.

    Have you?

  23. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Tom: “Well – they keep letting her go on TV as a spokesperson for their party.

    Bingo.

  24. Jaim says:

Bachmann would be happier living in a theocracy like Iran.

    Mm-hm. Right.

Anyhiz, we’ve got a lot of specific examples of Bachmann Wingnut Overdrive’s wackniess. How do they compare with specific examples from Ms. McKinney.

  26. Matthew Hooper says:

Well, she DID accuse the DoD of using Hurricane Katrina to cover up the muder of 5,000 prisoners… according to her, they’re all dumped into a Louisiana swamp.

Here’s the article and video, courtesy of that hotbed of conservatism, The Daily Kos:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/3/0057/38473/886/618469

She also hit a security guard after he stopped her when she tried to breeze past a security checkpoint without showing any ID:

    http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/03/31/mckinney.police/

    So, that’s pretty loopy.

  27. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Matthew Hooper: “Well, she DID accuse the DoD of using Hurricane Katrina to cover up the muder of 5,000 prisoners… according to her, they’re all dumped into a Louisiana swamp.”

Was that before or after she was booted out of the House of Representatives?

“Here’s the article and video, courtesy of that hotbed of conservatism, The Daily Kos…”

Which pretty much proves our point.

Cynthia McKinney is nuts, but she was dealt with by the Democrats.

Michelle Bachman is nuts, but she’s still a Republican. And a Republican that gets a lot of face time on TV.

  28. Matthew Hooper says:

“Was that before or after she was booted out of the House of Representatives?”

Is it your opinion that she got more crazy after she left the House?

Face time by TV proves little. The media always goes ofter the sensational, and Bachmann’s being pretty sensational now. Does Bachmann have any committee appointments? (McKinney got defrocked of hers by the Democrats.)

I’ll reiterate: I’m not disagreeing. But this is weak proof of the argument. Strengthen it, please. I’m using McKinney as an example here; a member of the House’s opinions are not necessarily a good example of the opinions of that party in general.

    James Imhofe

    Tom Coburn

    Dana Rohrbacher

    Diaper Dave Vitter

    Patrick McHenry

And that’s just the current ones. You could add B-2 Bob Dornan, Senator Intertubes, Mark the Boy Banger Foley, Newtie the “reformed” Catholic, The Hammer, former Senator “MD Video” Frist, Rick Santorum, and Normie Sore Loser Coleman too.

For someone who’s not disagreeing, you sure sound like you think that both sides are equally as bad as each other. Have you missed out on the last, oh, forty years or so, of american politics?

On the other hand – we now have Dennis Moore (D-INO Blue Dog) in the House. Soon every lupine in the land will be in his mighty hand!

  30. Duros62 says:

    Cynthia McKinney – 9/11 troofer.

    Michelle Bachmann – Obmama birther.

    I’ll give him that one.

I’m a recovering member. I voted Obama this time around. I’m recovering from the Kool-aid. Be kind.

    Welcome back.

  31. Duros62 says:

Don’t forget Darryl Issa. Or Dr. “Cat gutter” Frist.

  32. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Me: “Was that before or after she was booted out of the House of Representatives?”

Matthew Hooper: “Is it your opinion that she got more crazy after she left the House?”

My opinion is, as soon as the party realized how crazy she was, they took care of the problem.

“Face time by TV proves little. The media always goes ofter the sensational, and Bachmann’s being pretty sensational now.”

But the party has some control over this. They can tell her to cut back on the TV time, or they will cut back of supporting her.

  33. Duros62 says:

Especially when everytime she does get on TV, she’s a train wreck. That cannot help the party very much.

  34. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Duros62: “Especially when everytime she does get on TV, she’s a train wreck. That cannot help the party very much.”

Either they have no control over her, or they agree with her.

And since they were able to prevent ANY Republican in the house from voting for the stimulus, the latter seems more likely.
