Michael Wilbon On Dan Snyder’s Pursuit Of Jay Cutler
Tweet
It isn’t often that I agree with a portion, let alone an entire Michael Wilbon column, but he hits the nail on the head assessing the Redskins obsession now with signing Jay Cutler. Jason Campbell is clearly in a bubble year, but there’s no indication that Cutler is way better and he’s petulant at worst, a prima donna at best. Not in the tradition of the team the Redskins should be.
Please, don’t do this.
UPDATE: The Broncos want TWO first round picks for Cutler. If Snyder does this he’s killing the team’s present and future.

The Skins have been a joke for years and will continue to be a joke. They continue to attempt to buy their way to success to no avail. Laughable, just like their pathetic fans.
Petulant? Prima Donna? Come on!
The Broncos, and first year head coach McDaniels, tried to royally screw him, and he did what any solid NFL QB would do, he told them to stick it.
Oliver, you need to do your homework on Cutler and how this whole thing went down.
Listen Campbell is a good QB, but he’s not taking the Skins or any team to ‘the promised land’.
Look at the QBs in your division. McNabb, Romo, Manning. Can Campbell hang with that crew??
Eli Manning
3238yds
21 TDs
10 INTs
86.4 QB Rating
Tony Romo
3448 yds
26 TDs
14 INTs
91.4 QB Rating
Donovan McNabb
3916 yds
23 TDs
11 INTs
86.4 QB Rating
Jason Campbell
3245 yds
13 TDs
6 INTs
84.3 QB Rating
Jay Cutler
4526 yds
25 TDs
18 INTs
86.0 QB Rating
I don’t think Cutler is so much better than the other QBs in the division, nor do I think Campbell is so much worse. Campbell is in a bubble year and if he chokes this year even a few games into the season I’ll be the first to call for the yank. But I don’t see where Cutler is sooo much better (especially on those INTs) where he would be worth what the apparent cost is (especially in draft picks).
Of the 5 players listed, the best one is probably Eli.
If Dan Snyder does this I’m going to make a concerted effort to put my Redskins fandom on a shelf until he’s no longer the owner. It’s really hard to root for a team this stupid without getting utterly infuriated every few months. Other GMs rip off the Skins and laugh at them, and players just see the Skins as a way to get one big payday.
Shit, maybe the fact that Snyder is openly trying to do this should be the last straw.
Eli Messiah is awful when he doesn’t have a 6’6″ wideout to go over the top to snag his duck chucks.
Campbell’s not the problem in DC. It’s The Dan that’s the problem.
Now I’m reading that the Skins might get hit for tampering for negotiating with Haynesworth too early. Another draft pick gone so Danny can have a big-splash press conference.
Anytime you can get a guy who was so highly recruited he wound up at Vanderbilt, you’ve got to make that move.
