What if the country runs out of tin-foil
Well, I’m not intimately familiar with the phrasings used in legislation, but “A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities…” doesn’t sound to my ears like it limits someone’s activities only when they are working as a national service volunteer. (“you can’t lobby as a national service volunteer, on time compensated by national service program funding.”)
On first read I took it to say that if you are a participant in national service, you can’t do blah, blah or blah. There’s a difference, for example, between “If you’re in the army you can’t participate in political demonstrations.” and “You can’t participate in political demonstrations while wearing your uniform.” If they mean the latter, IMHO that could be more clearly said.
Re: the participating in religeous activity…
The language of the bill doesn’t specify times, etc. As it reads, it prohibits religeous activity.
Further, even if it did restrict it to only the times someone is working, it would still be a gross violation of the participant’s rights.
