
As the right falls out of political power they have a tendency to fall in line behind conspiracy theorists and survivalists. Many of you will remember the last round of this during the Clinton presidency where every half-cocked conspiracy theory embraced by the nuttiest of wingnuts became gospel to the conservative establishment who debased the halls of congress and the airwaves with their nuttery.
Well, it’s happening again under President Obama. Today its about secret Chinese one-world currency. There will be more.
And after they take away all our dollars and replace them with Chinese currency, they’re going to make us all eat our pets!!1!

A one world currency would suck ass. Terrible for regional economic downturns.
One of my students came to me with this recently. He “read it some place” so it must be true. And no, he’s not a right-wing conspiracy theorist. Rather, he’s one of a number of 20-somethings I’ve come across recently who seem to have the attitude, ‘it doesn’t matter who I vote for, they’re all crooks.’
They end up believing the nut-jobs on both sides of the political spectrum, and develop a complete lack of interest in politics coupled with an innate distrust of the government. It’s disturbing, and I hope it’s not a trend.
