And no, ACORN has not been formally charged as of yet. And it’s not likely to, considering how close they are to the current administration. That’s why I’m calling for a RICO investigation.

Hm, and they don’t show any sources either. Further searching leads only to sources that are only quoting rottenacorn.com or have been disproved in the factcheck.org article I linked to. Simple questions arise such as, who are these 2 people? Are the 2 people the convicted felons? Did the felons lie about being convicted? Not much you can do about that besides turn them in once ACORN figures it out. Also note that ACORN the organization itself isn’t being charged with anything in this example.

Your previous comments have led me to question the veracity of everything you write Jay Tea and it seems I’m right to do so. Your partisan sources have been incredibly wrong before.

In each case, there is an element of personal choice involved in it. And in each case, there is a howling from certain circles to deny those people the right to be responsible for those choices.

At no point did I advocate any kind of “penalty” or “punishment” or any consequence whatsoever for those choices. Nor do I. I just thought it important to acknowledge that, in the vast majority of cases, these circumstances were not akin to being struck by lightning or spontaneously combusting. There were choices made by those individuals that contributed to their current circumstances.

The mechanism you speak of is the same mechanism that ANYONE COLLECTING VOTER REGISTRATION must abide by. You legally must submit all filled out voter registration forms. THAT’S THE LAW.

You’re the one using the word ILLEGAL. It’s in your first post. That is the lie. Voter fraud is illegal. Voter registration fraud isn’t even a concept really. Where has ACORN, the organization, been convicted of anything ILLEGAL? Your word. Not mine.

And since when is voter registration fraud a “victimless crime?” Who pays the salaries of the public officials who have to wade through thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of bogus registrations?

Let’s go back to Lake County. ACORN dumped over 5,000 voter registration forms on them right before the deadline. County workers spent hours and hours plowing through them, checking each and every one, until they had reached about 2,100 bogus ones and NOT ONE SINGLE VALID ONE. Did ACORN offer to pay the county for their wasted time and efforts?

I thought not.

ACORN has set up a mechanism that not only tolerates voter registration fraud, but encourages and subsidizes it. Just because they don’t spell it out, they have created an “attractive nuisance” and need to be held liable for their actions.

And just because their machinations benefit Democrats, that doesn’t mean they should get a pass. It probably does, but it shouldn’t.

I said that ACORN had committed massive (I’m sorry) a lot of VOTER REGISTRATION fraud. That means that they had turned in a lot of voter forms that were filled with made-up stuff.

Michael Over There gave a link to Factcheck.org that showed that ACORN had not been convicted of VOTER fraud — that’s people voting when and where they shouldn’t.

I thanked him nicely for the link, then showed a bunch of times ACORN had been caught turning in false voter registration forms — just the thing I said that they had done.

I also found one case where ACORN DID help someone commit VOTER FRAUD, but I chose to let that one go — I felt bad enough for Michael already.

I got a front-row seat of that kind of bullshit in 2002, when the New Hampshire Republican Party was caught hiring a telemarketer to jam the Democrats’ “get out the vote” phone lines on election day. Eventually, several GOP officials went to prison and the state party was fined pretty heftily. I thought they were treated too leniently.

I’m consistent. ANYONE who asses around with elections needs to spend time in Poundass Prison. Sproul, NH Republicans, and ACORN scumbags.

PA 2008 An ACORN employee in West Reading, PA, was sentenced to up to 23 months in prison for identity theft and tampering with records. A second ACORN worker pleaded not guilty to the same charges and is free on $10,000 bail.

WA 2007 Three ACORN employees pleaded guilty, and four more were charged, in the worst case of voter registration fraud in Washington state history. More than 2,000 fraudulent voter registration cards were submitted by the group during a voter registration drive.

Since we don’t have another election for a little while, they’re keeping busy with organizing breaking and entering:

Near Patterson Park, the padlock on the door and the sign in the window tell part of Donna Hanks foreclosure story.

“The mortgage went up $300 in one month,” said Hanks, former homeowner.

She says the bank refused to modify her loan and foreclosed, kicking her out of the house in September.

The community group ACORN calls Hanks a victim of predatory lending.

“This is our house now,” said Louis Beverly, ACORN.

And on Thursday afternoon, they literally broke the foreclosure padlock right off the front door and then broke into the house, letting Hanks back in for the first time in months.

“We are actually trespassing, and so this is a way of civil disobedience to try to stay in the house,” said Beverly. “Legally it’s wrong, but homesteading is the only means that she has left to stay in her house. And we feel as though this is the right thing to do at this particular time to save this family.”

No, they’re not terrorists. But wouldn’t a RICO investigation be appropriate? Wouldn’t it have been appropriate years ago? Wouldn’t it be a good thing before they start applying their screening standards — sharpened in countless voter registration drives over the years — to helping hire Census workers?

I said voter REGISTRATION fraud, and there have been numerous convictions of ACORN staffers for that charge. For example, last year in Lake County, Illinois, ACORN submitted over 5,000 registrations. County officials waded through over 2,100 of them without finding a SINGLE valid one, and just trashed the rest.
