At a Media Research Center event (aka the site of Joe The Plumber’s outbreak of “horny”), Brit Hume warned the assembled conservative media figures to beware of the bias that will be created in news of the future, because of blogs.
Yes, Brit Hume said that. Brit Hume, of Fox News Channel. That guy.
I am a resident of the O~State. If any of the other 49 would like to offer JTP a home, employment or just a shack to reside in, we would certainly appreciate your efforts. In fact, we might seriously consider taking up a collection to help ship him out of here.
Whenever I see him on television, You Can’t Fix Stupid comes to mind. What a joke he really is!
I don’t watch Faux News. I can only stand so much exposure to ignorance in the unlimited degree in small doses. That usually happens during the course of my work day. I don’t like my intelligence insulted by a group of paid morons.
btw, I love your icon!
Jim Ward from the Stephanie Miller Show does the best impression of Brit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPP6rdFlarw
Yeah, ONE Fox News channel vs. ABC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, NYTimes, WaPo, CNN, NPR, et al on the Left….from that math Brit Hume “obviously” doesn’t have a clue as to what he’s talking about.
“Yeah ONE Fox News channel vs. ABC,…”
A station where a prominent commentator, Cokie Roberts criticized Obama for (gasp!) taking a vacation in Hawaii.
CBS…,”
Yeah, there was the Rather scandal but that was in the past…and in the present, we have Chip Reid (a reporter, not a commentator) saying that Democrats in Congress “are rearing their ugly heads.” Gave an editorial outlet, on its evening news program, to noted liberal Rush Limbaugh and refused to do the same to noted conservative Bill Maher.
MSNBC…”
Sure, there’s Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, but this network also gave shows to raging liberals Michael Savage, Alan Keyes, and Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson. Name me ONE liberal who has gotten his own stand alone show (with emphasis on “stand alone” so you can’t cite Hannity and Colmes) on Fox. Even Olbermann has given a “Worst Person in the World” dishonor to Barack Obama. Features a reporter (David Shuster) who showcased his liberal bias by stating that Chelsea Clinton was “pimping” for her mother Hillary.
PBS…”
A network whose longest-running program (Firing Line) was hosted by that Michael Dukakis/George McGovern/Dennis Kucinich clone William Buckley.
NYTimes…”
Relentlessly bashed the Clintons over Whitewater and Travelgate in its editorial pages. Endorsed a Republican governor for re-election (George Pataki) over his more liberal Democratic oponent (Carl McCall). Endorsed a Republican candidate for a New Jersey senatorial seat (Bob Franks) over his more liberal Democratic opponent (Jon Corzine). Gave a column space to that raging leftie William Kristol. Featured a column by a man (William Saffire) who called Hillary Clinton a “congenital liar.”
“…WaPo,…”
Runs columns from liberal stalwarts George Will, Charles Krauthammer (who has compared Obama to Hitler). Ran a column from Michael Kelly (before the latter passed away, of course), who vituperatively criticized Bill Clinton and supported the war in Iraq, Ran an editorial defending that liberal icon Augusto Pinochet after his death.
CNN…”
Had a long-running show with those noted favorites of the liberal crowd, Rowland Evans and Bob Novak. One of its anchors on its Headline News division (Chuck, something, I don’t remember the guy’s last name) called Joe Lieberman’s left-wing Democratic primary challenger Ned Lamont the “Al Qaeda candidate.” Gave a show to Glenn Beck.
“NPR…”
Not familiar at all with NPR, so I guess I’ll give you this one.
Bottom line, the F(R)NC is ten times as biased to the right as any of the outlets you mentioned (well, again, maybe with the exception of NPR) are to the left. Where’s the reporter on Fox saying that Republicans are “rearing their ugly heads?” When was a liberal Democrat even OFFERED a stand-alone show by Fox? When did a reporter on Fox make a crude comment about a Republican presidential candidate’s offspring? When did a Fox news commentator criticize a Republican presidential candidate for such a trivial matter as his/her vacation choice?
It’s a fair concern, in spite of the not-qualified-to-discuss-it source. People are increasingly reading things that only agree with their point of view. I read in the Times the other day that reading something that agrees with your predisposed biases lights up your brain in an entirely different and more pleasant way than something that disagrees.
So we’re predisposed to be closeminded and arrogant about our views. Thanks brain!
“NPR…”
Not familiar at all with NPR, so I guess I’ll give you this one.
I’ll give you a hint. David Frum is a regular commentary contributor.
I heard a commentary from Amity Shailes just the other day.
AIE is one of their first go-tos for comment.
Fuckin’ hippies.
MrGreyGhost: Yeah, ONE Fox News channel vs. ABC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, NYTimes, WaPo, CNN, NPR, et al on the Left….
Oh, oh. Can I play this game?
Yeah, ONE Kobe Bryant vs Shaquille O’Neal, Louis Amundson, Leandro Barbosa, Matt Barnes, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Grant Hill, Robin Lopez, Steve Nash, Jason Richardson, Amar’e Stoudemire, et al on the Suns….
What, you mean Bryant isn’t the only one on his side? But he’s the only one mentioned so I guess that still makes it a fair comparison, right?
Parthenon: So we’re predisposed to be closeminded and arrogant about our views.
Well, that may be overstating the conclusion a bit. But now let’s see a follow up study that examines to what extent folks overcome their predisposition and make attempts to broaden their exposure to other views in some way. I’d be very surprised if the right ranked higher then the left in their openmindedness.
