Disney Princess & The Frog Characters

Looks interesting. I’m looking forward to this movie because a) It’s got Disney’s first black princess and b) It’s not CGI, but good old hand-drawn animation. I’m not a CGI hater (I loved Wall-E and Toy Story) but I truly love deluxe Disney-style theatrical animation.

I think it’s about time Disney’s movie Princess and The Frog has a Black Pincess that’s animated. Fantastic!!

Disney certainly didn’t jump headfirst into this thing, already having had Asian and a Mideast princesses (a decidedly Eastern-looking Mulan and highnosed Jasmine from Aladdin). Focus groups must’ve said going black was O.K. Call me an idealist, with time they’ll even release “Song of the South,” when it’s clear to all that it’s a relic of our racist past but still interesting re: early live/animation combos.

So do I, so do I. The Princess and the Frog is apparently going to be Disney’s swan song to the medium (seeing as it costs like ten “Wall-E”s to make one The Princess and the Frog, and takes like twice as much time), and that makes me very, very, very, VERY sad.
